You knew they'd have to get around to it sooner or later. The final segment of the upcoming Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror" episode on November 5 will take a few not-so-subtle shots at the current conflict in Iraq as aliens Kang and Kodos (who are featured in every "Treehouse of Horror") attack Springfield before the humans can get their hands on "weapons of mass disintegration". The connection to the Iraq war is made obvious, and there's even a line at the end in which a character evokes the actual Iraq debacle. Executive producer Al Jean says the line may be too obvious and not make it into the episode. It'll be interesting to see how the show handles the segment, though I wonder why they didn't try to tackle this subject as a full "regular" episode, which I think they could have done fairly easily. Then again, they may still have plenty of time to do just that.
William Shatner has faith that a new video game will give Star Trek a higher profile, after it has apparently fallen off the American radar. The game is called Star Trek: Legacy and, of course, he's voicing Capt. Kirk's character. The game will span all five of the franchise's television series, allowing players to fly 60 different space ships and encounter all sorts of aliens, including battling the Klingons and The Borg. Shatner hopes the game will hold over fans until 2008, when the next movie is due out.

love everything John Lithgow does. He made a great woman in The World According to Garp, a terrifying villain
in Raising Cain, and a perfectly goofy alien in 3rd Rock From the Sun. He even made a children's
album a few years ago that ended up being a big hit with my niece. He seems like the kind of guy who is always trying
to challenge himself creatively and I respect that. Plus, he kind-of dances to the beat of his own drum.
