Wentworth Miller goes from Prison Break to Law & Order: SVU

wentworth_miller_prison_breakMore good news out of NBC's top drama. Wentworth Miller is guesting on Law and Order: SVU, and this time he's not going to be behind bars. The Prison Break actor will star in the September 23 premiere of Law and Order: SVU, which is kicking off its 11th season on the NBC.

Wentworth Miller's casting comes on the heels of NBC re-signing of Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni to two-year extensions as the show's mainstays, Detectives Benson and Stabler, as well as the return of Stephanie March as Alex Cabot and a four-show arc for Christine Lahti. I'd say that the powers-that-be are stacking the deck with prime talent to make sure Law and Order: SVU maintains its top quality status.

Who will bite the dust next on Prison Break?

Prison BreakIt's no secret, Prison Break is one of those shows that is not afraid to kill characters along the way, even major ones.

Therefore, it will be no surprise to you to learn that more deaths are coming in the final episodes of the series. But did you know that there is one that will be so major that the show's Powers That Be needed to meet face-to-face with the network to get approval?

Curious as to who may bite the dust by series' end? Want to speculate on how it will happen?

Extreme spoilers follow! You've been warned.

Is the Prison Break spinoff still in the works?

Prison BreakBack in October 2007, we learned that FOX was looking into making a Prison Break spin off set in a prison for women. The plan was to introduce the new series as an episode of Prison Break. This way of testing the waters before officially launching a spinoff has been used to introduce series such as NCIS and Private Practice and will be used this spring to launch the planned Gossip Girl and NCIS's spinoffs.

The Prison Break spinoff idea was put on the back burner and most of us thought it would never happen after all. However, a casting call for PB's episode 4.23 makes me think that FOX is going forward with the spinoff set in a prison for women, especially now that Prison Break has been cancelled. Or they at least want to test the idea before making their final decision.

Spoilers for episode 4.23 and potential Prison Break spinoff coming up!

Prison Break: Mid-season analysis

Prison BreakFour years ago, many of us thought that Prison Break would last only one season because once the guys break out, it's not "Prison Break" anymore. However, due to the show's success, FOX renewed it over and over again. This lead to the gang being on the run during season two, stuck in Sona and trying to break out again during season three and, this year, working together to gather Scylla, bring The Company down and get their freedom.

Now that the OMG!WTF? mid-season finale aired, it's time to analyze the product we've been offered so far and make our predictions as to what will happen next.

If you haven't watched the mid-season finale, step away from this post right now as I'll dish the reveals after the jump... then again, if you've seen the way too spoilerish mid-season finale promos that aired on TV, you are pretty much in the know.

Who'll die in Monday's episode of Prison Break?

Prison BreakCome on! You think that I just spoiled the entire November 3rd episode of Prison Break by saying that someone will die? I don't think so as it is a given at least one person will die during Sweeps time when Prison Break is concerned and, in case you didn't know, November Sweeps started last Thursday.

However, before the jump I'll leave it to that: someone dies. I won't tell you who, I won't tell you how, I won't tell you why before the jump since I know how to spoil shows. But anything goes after the jump.

Oh and in case you don't want to know exactly who dies this week, I don't know either. But I'm making my predictions in this post based on official descriptions from the network and spoilers. So let's see if you come up with the same conclusions as I am.

Spoilers follow!

Michael finds poor rapport with tone of Prison Break

Prison Break
Don't get me wrong. I like Michael Rappaport. I've seen him in dramatic and comedic roles and he's equally impressive in both, but something just didn't work at all every moment he was on screen in Monday night's season premiere of Prison Break. Maybe it's because everyone from Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell to William Fichtner and even Robert Knepper talks in this sort of subdued menacing whisper. And then here comes Rappaport all filled with bluster and his thick New York accent and that quarter smile that's always on his face.

I don't know what it was, but every time he spoke it pulled me right out of the fiction. I know Prison Break isn't anywhere close to Shakespearean in quality or writing, but one thing it's always had going for it is the quality of the cast and their performances, making you believe all the ridiculous things that happen.

What to expect in season four of Prison Break

Prison BreakIf you've watched FOX over the summer or read the upcoming season and episodes' official descriptions, you surely know of the big bombshell that will be revealed in the season premiere of Prison Break. It's clear that FOX wants its audience to know of that reveal before hand in order to lure some viewers back to the show and create a buzz around the show.

If you don't know what I'm talking about and don't want to know about it, don't read beyond the spoilers warning. I suggest you also stop watching FOX until September 1 at 8 p.m. and that you stay clear from anything Prison Break related. Because, as I've said before, it's clear the network wants you to know and they are not hiding that reveal at all.

Beware: spoilers ahead!

Prison Break: Photo Finish / Vamonos

The cast of Prison Break
(S03E06/S03E07) A two-hour Prison Break? Now what did I do to deserve this? Well, it was really just two back-to-back episodes of Prison Break instead of a two-hour special. But still, the only thing better than one Prison Break episode is two Prison Break episodes.

And they were pretty good episodes to boot. While we didn't get to see the much-hyped escape from Sona, we did get some interesting new developments in the plot.

Ten reasons why Lincoln is better than Michael on Prison Break

The Prison Break BrothersLincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is hands-down my favorite character on FOX's Prison Break. Some argue that the star of the show and the main character is Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) but I would propose that it's his brother Lincoln who is the real reason to tune in on Monday nights.

Yes, Michael is very attractive. Yes, Michael is very intelligent. Yes, Michael has cool tattoos ... all over his body (cool tattoos that have cool secret codes and secret maps). And finally, yes, Michael uses said attractiveness, intelligence, and tattoos to break his brother out of prison. This is show of brotherly love is, to put it lightly, generous of him.

Okay, so I went through the reasons one might argue that Michael is better than Lincoln. Continue reading for my reasons why Lincoln is truly better than Michael.

Prison Break Season Two - DVD review

Prison BreakBack in July 2005, I had the chance to watch the Prison Break screener. Even if I thought back then that the story was a bit far fetched (the evasion plan hidden in a massive tattoo), I put that aside and enjoyed the storylines and the characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 because it was all about the ingenuity of the escape plan and Michael trying to put it in motion. In retrospect, Season 2 was entertaining even if not that good: there were too many storylines going on at the same time and all the characters were spread out over the country.

When I was given the chance to review the Season 2 DVD, I was not only looking forward the insights brought by the DVD extras but also to watching the entire series almost non-stop and see if my opinion would change on the second viewing.

The first 17 minutes of Prison Break's premiere available online

Prison BreakFans of FOX's Prison Break rejoice! Thinking that fans don't have enough to chew already with the available spoilers and the countless spoilerish interviews Dominic Purcell is giving this week (I think I read 10 in two days!), the network has put up the first 17 minutes of next season's premiere online!

What to expect in season 3 of Prison Break

Prison BreakLast season's finale of FOX's hit show Prison Break introduced us to Sona, the Panama prison where Michael needs to serve time. When reviewing the last episode, TV Squadder Paul Goebel asked a few questions: What the hell is going on at Sona? Was getting Michael to Sona the endgame in all of this? Will he be the guinea pig in some awesome government experiment? Can Bellick suffer any more humiliation?

The answers to some of these questions and more after the jump. Spoilers ahead!

Patricia Wettig returns to Prison Break

Patricia WettigYou might remember way back in July when Keith reported that Patricia Wettig had left Prison Break to take a gig on Brothers & Sisters. With that show having a pretty good run of it this season, it didn't look like we'd be seeing the evil lady prez again. That left Prison Break in a tough spot, because it's kind of an important character. Now comes word that she will be back, but in what capacity remains unclear.

According to TV Guide, Wettig will be doing a couple of voice overs for the show. I'm guessing that's leading to a shot from behind her office chair where we can see a hand holding a phone and some blond hair as she directs her henchmen. However, there is also mention of her first scene with Wentworth Miller which leaves room for speculation that we will actually "see" President Reynolds again.

Was the idea for Prison Break stolen?

Prison Break DVDTwo Missouri brothers are suing FOX and Prison Break creator Paul Sheuring, saying they stole the idea for the hit show.

Robert Hughes was sent to prison in the 1960s for a crime he didn't commit, and older brother Donald helped him escape. On the surface this may not seem like much, but add on to the fact that they had their agent send FOX a script in 2001 about their experiences. The network wasn't interested, but then Prison Break debuted in 2005.

Robert Hughes makes an interesting point that, if they were to try and sell their story now, it would look like they were copying the show.

Whatever the outcome, their story actually sounds really interesting. They were on the run for four years, working various jobs around the country and staying one step ahead of the police.
