(S06E09) Hiya! My name is Bob Kelso and I like whores. -- Bob Kelso

Thanks to my brother Joel for covering last week's episode of Scrubs while I was watching and performing some serious Improv. By the way, if Bassprov ever comes to your town buy tickets early and go see them. Mark Sutton and Joe Bill are just terrific!

Enough Improv chat, let's move ahead to this week's show. The most important item was, of course, the cameo appearance of former TV Squad writer (and current Netscape dude) Ryan Budke (check out the image at the end of this post, after the jump -- he's the guy you don't recognize, in light blue scrubs). It just goes to show you that we here at TV Squad are more than just writers. We're anonymous extras with our backs turned to the camera.

(S06E07) Let's see, over the past five seasons J.D. has given his special narrating powers to Turk, Elliot, Carla, and even Janitor. So, it was logical that he would pass on his abilities to one of the two remaining bigwigs of the show. And he did so this week, as the inner monologue was passed on to Bob Kelso.

Its been awhile since we've seen Bob strut his stuff on the show. Yes, he had some significant singing parts during the musical episode, but he's been in the shadows recently. He certainly isn't the powerhouse that he was in the earlier seasons. That was actually the plot of this week's episode: the staff are no longer afraid of Kelso's tirades since he barely shows up anymore.

Are you ready for some bad singing? Eh, forget that American Idol crap. The much-hyped Scrubs musical is tomorrow night. For a whole half hour, you can watch perfectly respectable/paid actors attempt to harmonize! Actually, I am kind-of curious to see who is a good singer. Something tells me either the Janitor or Bob Kelso is going to bring down the house. What I really want is some head-banging, hateful music from pregnant Jordan.

We've got a clip after the jump of one of the musical numbers from tomorrow night's episode. You may have already seen this, as NBC released it last year. It's a super-creepy ballad with J.D. and Turk called "Guy Love".

(S06E05) Let's get right to it. Here was the funniest part of this week's episode:

Turk is extremely worried about Carla's postpartum depression so he goes to Dr. Cox for advice. Perry tells Turk that the only person who can help Carla right now is someone else who had the same illness. So, he makes a call to the missus. In walks a extremely angry, third-trimester pregnant Jordan to the melodious notes of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely". She pushes through hospital staff like a linebacker through offensive tacklers, stuffs some form of cake into her mouth (that she grabbed from another employees) and screeches 'What?' to Perry and Turk while food flies from her mouth.

That was the funniest scene. The rest? Meh.

The future of Scrubs seemed a little iffy earlier this season, when NBC shelved it until after the New Year. Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence and star Zach Braff talked a lot about how the entire staff went whole hog because they thought this might be the last season, and how they could end up on ABC if NBC doesn't want them anymore. He sort-of says it in this New York Times article, but Bill Lawrence flat-out told E! that he's confident Scrubs will have a season six, whether it's on NBC or ABC. And, it's probably not leaving NBC any time soon.

Scrubs' ratings have been admirable so far this season (since new episodes started airing in January). Until American Idol started, it was averaging 8 million viewers a night. Those numbers are down, but still impressive. And, Scrubs is doing well that that key demographic: 18-49 viewers.

I guess Scrubs will be around long enough for us to find out the name of Turk and Carla's baby!

Now that Carla is finally pregnant, we need to start thinking about baby names. I say 'we' because NBC is holding a contest from now through May for a name for Carla and Turk's baby on Scrubs. Whoever enters the winning name (and sex) will have a character named after them on Scrubs. Go to this NBC website to enter the contest. You have to choose a name and a gender and then give all your personal information, of course.

We interrupt Chris' regularly scheduled review of Scrubs to bring you my views and musings on NBC's brilliant gem. I'm going to be reviewing both of last night's episodes in one review, which works out nicely since they flowed more or less as one story. They both centered around guest star Mandy Moore as JD's new girlfriend. A case of art imitating life since these two are dating (and rumored to be engaged) in real life. I'm sure it's the same for girls, but guys have a couple of different groupings for their celebrity crushes. There's the *ahem* fantasies of Angelina Jolie, Shakira, and Keira Knightley, and then you've got those girls that you just wish you had as your girlfriend; Natalie Portman, Reece Witherspoon and Keira Knightley (what can I say, I've got a thing for her). Very high a top that latter list for most guys is Mandy Moore. She just comes across as one of the generally sweetest girls you could ever hope to meet, and these episodes certainly helped cement that persona. I hate Zach Braff. On with the show!
