Tim and Eric love Shrek - VIDEO

tim eric shrekEvery so often, MySpace will offer users the chance to gussy up their pages with special promotional images and backgrounds. Some, like myself, prefer doing it the old fashioned way and carrying large signs around the neighborhood telling everyone to see the new Transformers movie.

Comedians Tim and Eric (Tom Goes to the Mayor; Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), however, don't care about Transformers, they care about Shrek the Third. That's right, not only have they changed the look of their MySpace page to honor the lovable ogre, they've also created a few videos to let people know the movie is coming out.

Tim and Eric promote, and Tim and Eric tour

Tim and EricThe new sketch comedy series, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!, from Tom Goes to the Mayor creators Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim kicks off February 11 at 11:45pm on Adult Swim. There are a bunch of promos for the series on YouTube, none of which really explain what the show is about, but if it the series is anything like Tim and Eric's previous work, it probably defies explanation anyway. Or, it's a brand new approach to comedy that is actually much smarter than it seems. Either way, I'll be checking it out.

Oh yeah, and if you want to experience the boys live, they're hitting the road later this month for the Tim and Eric Awesome Tour, with absolutely no stops in the Midwest, the rat bastards. Tour stops and ticket information are after the jump. If you get a chance to meet either Tim or Eric on this tour, tell them Adam sends his love from Minneapolis and then kick them in the shins for me. Thanks.

Clips from Tim and Eric's new show

tim and ericTim and Eric care deeply about me so they sent me an e-mail to tell me about some new promos for their upcoming live-action Adult Swim series, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! which debuts in February. Actually, I just happen to be on their mailing list, but I like to imagine their e-mails are just for me. I print them out, decorate them with heart stickers and glitter and think happy thoughts about what Tim and Eric are doing in Los Angeles. Then I start to worry that maybe they've forgotten about me and are seeing other people. I start to worry more and more until I've convinced myself they're cheating on me and then I go to the bar and take home some lonely middle-aged divorcee for a drunken night of sad love making and spend the next week wondering how to deal with the guilt. It's just so hard being away from Tim and Eric, you know?

Anyway, funny clips here and here and here. Some of you may not think they're all that funny, but the important thing is that I find them funny.

A bit of Tim and Eric news

tim and ericWell, I mentioned earlier that Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, the twisted minds behind one of my favorite shows, Tom Goes to the Mayor, were developing a sketch show for Adult Swim. We now know that the name of the new show is Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!. According to the duo, the humor will be not unlike the short films the two made before bringing Tom Goes to the Mayor to Adult Swim. Also, Tom Goes to the Mayor will take a break while the two focus on their new show. Hopefully it won't be gone forever, for sad I would be.

If you just can't wait until February 11th for the premiere of their new show, you can always head to Pasadena, California tomorrow for the Doo Dah Parade, a crazy spoof of the New Year's Day Rose Parade. Tim and Eric will be there, will you?

Tim and Eric creating a sketch show for Adult Swim?

tim and ericAdult Swim, you know I love you, but damn it, you make it so difficult to find information on upcoming series. Nevertheless, there seem to be a few clues floating around the online world of Adult Swim that indicate Tim and Eric, creators of one of favorite series of the last couple years, Tom Goes to the Mayor, are developing a sketch show (working title: Sketch Show) which is currently set to debut on February 11 at 12:15 am Sunday evening (early Monday morning). As I've stated before, this may have been mentioned on the Adult Swim TV bumps, but being a Tivo rider, I often miss those. However, the duo mentioned originally wanting to do a sketch show with Bob Odenkirk in this long and rambling IM interview, and the folks over at the Adult Swim messageboards have been chatty-chatting about it, as well.

I'm going to assume this new series won't be animated, which is just fine with me. I may very well be accused of blasphemy here, but I would love to see Adult Swim become its own 24-hour network dedicated to anything weird and unique, animated or otherwise. It seems to be going in that direction anyway, and if that means a place where alternative ideas can grow and flourish, that doesn't seem like such a terrible thing.

Tim and Eric call iTunes

tim and ericThe other day I mentioned I had discovered that Tom Goes to the Mayor creators had a podcast. I also mentioned that the fifth episode wasn't on iTunes for some reason. Now, I don't know this for certain, but the reason that particular episode is missing might be because it involves the duo making a prank call to iTunes tech support. You can watch it here (links to video) and if you're like me you can laugh until your uvula implodes because it's one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. It starts off with Tim Heidecker calling iTunes tech support, but instead of asking for tech help he starts asking the poor guy on the other end about Apple providing funding for their podcast. Later, Eric Wareheim joins in, and the call just starts to get weirder and weirder. Anyway, I found it quite amusing, and just thought I'd share. Why? Because I love you, damn it.

Tim and Eric have a podcast

tim and ericI've been a fan of Tim and Eric for a long time, even before Tom Goes to the Mayor was picked up by Adult Swim. However, I hadn't checked out their personal Web site in some time, so I was pleased to find they actually have a podcast now. They've made six episodes since May, and when I say "six" I mean "five" because the fifth one doesn't appear to be on iTunes. Oh wait, they do have it here. Okay, well that problem is solved. I was seriously worried there for a moment. I'm just glad you and I were able to get through it together. I think those last four sentences were a tumultuous time for all of us, full of doubt and uncertainty. The podcasts themselves include a lot of older videos the duo made before moving out to LA to do Tom Goes to the Mayor, mixed in with some newer stuff. If you're a fan, check it out. If you're not a fan, don't check it out, because that really wouldn't make any sense.
