It's time to begin searching for the next American Idol. And although we won't get a peek at any of the auditions until they air in January 2008, the first Season Seven wannabes will begin lining up outside of stadiums on July 30 in San Diego, California.
"We do like to see America," executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said of the seven-city nationwide search for a superstar. Besides San Diego, American Idol will be holding auditions in Dallas, Omaha, Atlanta, Charleston, Miami, and Philadelphia.

As the competition is winding down on this season of
American Idol, a brand-new competition is about to begin. As announced by Ryan Seacrest on
Wednesday night's live results show, the
Idol producers
have launched a nationwide search for the "best undiscovered group in America."
FOX must have been eager to greenlight the new series, tentatively titled "The Search for the Next Great American Band," hoping to take advantage of the
Idol cash cow and garner even more of that
American Idol ratings magic.
According to sources, the show will most likely air in the fall.
