The Incredible Hulk-related stories

A television obituary has slipped through the cracks. Dick Durock
has passed away. Who is Dick Durock, you ask? Why, he played the title character in the
Swamp Thing movie written and directed by Wes Craven and its subsequent poor follow-up, as well as
the television series based on the movies. Also, he played an evil Hulk in
The Incredible Hulk television series and was a stuntman on various television shows including
Star Trek.
I remember watching that
Incredible Hulk episode as a kid, and my first thought was "that second Hulk isn't anywhere near as muscular as the first." Still, in his prime Dick Durock could have undoubtedly kicked my ass.
Just to prove how tough Dick Durock was ... I don't know many people who have long battles with pancreatic cancer. Usually, that takes you out in a hurry. If you could stand up to Lou Ferrigno, pancreatic cancer was in for one hell of a fight.

Sometimes the news is just too good to be true. Former television star of
The Incredible Hulk and still hulk-y looking guy Lou Ferrigno is rumored
to be signing up for
Dancing with the Stars. Between this and his cameos in the
Hulk movies and
I Love You, Man, his star is really starting to shine again. Not bad for a guy pushing 60 years old.
I've actually met Lou Ferrigno on a couple of occasions at various sci-fi and comic conventions, and he's always been a nice guy to everyone getting an autograph. I'm curious how his well-documented hearing problems will affect his dancing. If he does manage to overcome them and do well on the show, I'll be the first guy cheering for him.
Of course, I'd be even more impressed if he lost the contest, turned green with rage, and then went on a rampage beating the crap out of the judges and all the other contestants. There's an episode of
DWTS that I would watch.

One of Marvel's upcoming projects is a new direct-to-DVD animated movie called
Planet Hulk. It's based on the comic story of the same name. It looks to be a pretty faithful adaption. I have read the original story and thought was good.
It's a huge story, though, and I doubt they'll fit all the details in a 90-minute movie (or however long it is). If the DVD has big sales, will Marvel release the sequel story in which The Hulk returns to Earth and fights the other Marvel heroes as a DVD as well?
Even though I liked
Planet Hulk, there are other, better stories I'd love to see released as a DVD animated movie. Hey, DC, how about putting
The Dark Knight Returns on a DVD (a real movie and not the cheap animotion
Watchmen DVD)? Marvel, where's my animated movie of
Marvel Zombies?
The trailer is after the jump so you can judge for yourself. Which comic storyline would you be interested in seeing animated?

Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow. The complete series sets seem to be coming fast and furious these days, though there really isn't anything here that I want to spend the cash on (already have
The Outer Limits). I have the first
Man From U.N.C.L.E. complete series set that Time-Life did several months ago (this one is from Warner).
The Starlost? Maybe as a curiosity, but I doubt it.
The Incredible Hulk? Eh.
Knight Rider? God no.

Some serious cross-promotion will take place on the June 9 episode of
American Gladiators.
NBC is airing a special
Incredible Hulk-themed installment of the series known for its muscle-bound warriors decked out in spandex and oil.
The Incredible Hulk feature film, directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth and William Hurt, hits theaters four days later on June 13.
The
Gladiators episode will feature guest star
