Episodes of Talk Show with Spike Feresten on MySpace

spike ferestenThis has probably been available for awhile, but I just found out that full episodes of Talk Show with Spike Feresten are available on MySpace. Feresten was a writer for Seinfeld and his new Saturday late night talk show on FOX is quite entertaining, and also the perfect length: it's only half an hour. The problem is, it's on Saturday nights so most people probably don't get a chance to see it, or they're already immersed in Saturday Night Live. If you're curious, you can watch the episodes here. I'll admit the show isn't flawless, but Feresten is a likable host, and I think the series has potential given some time to figure out what works and what doesn't. Most late night talk shows go through a kind of trial period when they first start out, and this one is no different. Also, the "Comedy for Stoners" bit at the end of every episode is pretty damn funny.

Best and Worst of 2006: Adam's list

wonder showzenYou want a my personal picks for the best TV stuff of 2006? Sure, no problem. You also want my personal picks for the worst TV offered in 2006? Well, that's somewhat of a challenge. If I don't like something, I don't watch it, but I agreed to list my favorite and least favorite things about TV, so let's get the negative stuff out of the way first.

Spike Feresten chats with College Humor

spike ferestenSomebody forgot to poke me with a sharp stick and remind me about Spike Feresten's late night show, TalkShow with Spike Feresten is currently airing Saturday evenings on FOX. Criminy, I've been looking forward to this show since April, and Joel even interviewed the man recently, for the love of God. Seriously, where was my head at? Okay, don't answer that, I know exactly where my head was. Anyway, College Humor recently interviewed Feresten, and the interview contains a lot of stuff we already know: he wrote the Seinfeld "Soup Nazi" episode, he penned a script for The Simpsons, he was a writer for Letterman, etc. What I didn't know, however, is that he and some writers from The Simpsons were asked to do a script rewrite of the movie Jury Duty. The rewritten script was then thrown out by Pauly Shore. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that one.

[Thanks to Katie S. for the tip.]

A fast Q&A with Spike Feresten

Spike FerestenIf you've never heard of Spike Feresten, you've at least heard some of his funny words. As a writer on Seinfeld, he penned "The Soup Nazi" episode, which many consider one of the best on the classic series. He also wrote for SNL, Late Show with David Letterman and The Dana Carvey Show.

Now he's in front of the camera with TALKSHOW with Spike Feresten (Saturdays at midnight on FOX), his twisted take on the tried-and-true late-night talk show format. How twisted? Well, in the last episdoe, he scoured a crummy neighborhood in L.A. looking for a sidekick, had Mary Lynn Rajskub operate heavy machinery after downing half a bottle of Nyquil, and presented a barbershop quartet that sung homo-erotic songs.

I caught up with Spike right before he conducted a Q&A with the cast of fellow FOX show Standoff at last week's New York Television Festival. We talked a little about his new show, but mostly just dicussed Seinfeld. The interview is after the jump.
