I was going to make some sort of "dough" and "doh!" here, but I'm sure that will already happen elsewhere.
The owner of a candy store in Aviles, Spain
found a Euro with the face of
Simpsons star (star? character?) Homer Simpson on it. The coin usually has King Juan Carlos on it. The other side of the coin wasn't touched, and no other coins have shown up with the likeness of Homer, or any other TV character, for that matter.
Which got me thinking: putting TV and movie characters on coins is a great idea. The U.S. is so obsessed with pop culture, what better way to show that then to put celebrities and characters on our money? I can imagine Montgomery Burns on the $100 bill.

Book? What book? That would seem to be the bone of contention, if you will.
Ben Karlin, former headwriter for The Daily Show, has filed a lawsuit against TV chef Mario Batali and actress Gwyneth Paltrow claiming they did not pay him for work he did for a book on which they were collaborating. Karlin, who shared authorship of
America (The Book) with Jon Stewart, says he was assigned to "conceptualize and oversee" a book to compliment a PBS series starring Mario and Gwyneth in which the stars take a cultural and gastronomic tour of Spain. The series, which may be called
Spain...on the Road Again, will premiere this fall.

For the most part American game shows are pretty tame. Oh sure, we eat a live slug once in awhile, and we take a dip into a pool of rattlesnakes on occasion; however, overall, the craziest thing we do is have our halter tops fall off while running down the stage. And, that's by accident.
The rest of the world, on the other hand...well, they've pretty much thrown off the Puritan shackles that we still bear and, for lack of a better phrase, let it all hang out when it comes to their game shows. Sometimes literally. Some examples of this can be found at Cracked.com, which lists 6 examples of the most insane game shows in the world.

US television networks continue to fight with cable providers over the idea of a "networked PVR" that allows users to save and watch shows on their own schedule without a pricey PVR in the house. But Spanish telephone company Telefonica apparently isn't facing that kind of conflict. The company plans to l
aunch a networked PVR service in Spain next month.
The service will let viewers watch any program that's aired during the last week. All the programs will include commercials, but you'll be able to fast forward past them, something you can't do with existing US services like Time Warner's
"Start Over" and "Look Back" services.
