As if there were any doubt.
In an interview with the
Newark Star-Ledger's TV critic Alan Sepinwall,
Sons of Anarchy creator and executive producer
Kurt Sutter has unofficially confirmed that the show will indeed be back for a third season. It's just a matter of FX finalizing some contracts and getting all its "financial ducks in a row." Sutter said he had been assured the show would be back though.
Good thing, too, since
last night's season two finale, "Na Trioblidi," had one helluva cliffhanger. Beyond that, Sutter's interview with Sepinwall also served as a nice post-mortem of the season and he offered plenty of info on where season three is likely headed. Spoilers after the jump, so read on at your own risk.

That was
some Mad Men finale, wasn't it? If you haven't seen it yet, please stop reading now, because there was just too much going on for me not to just launch into some discussion.
OK, I'll wait until after the jump to really get into things. But, suffice to say, the end of season three left some characters going down a pretty well-determined path, but others have entered a sort of limbo state, where we don't quite know what their roles will be in season four.

(S03E18) Army Wives is the highest rated series in the history of Lifetime, and this season has done little to infringe on the show's popularity. For me, though, this past season has been a bit of a drag... until tonight's dramatic finale. In the tradition of the show, cliffhanger endings are its specialty and more than a few lives were torn asunder by the time the credits rolled on tonight's show.
There's a lot up in the air going into next season (which
has already been ordered by Lifetime, so don't worry about these storylines not being resolved). Before looking at the couples, one by one, overall I think
Army Wives could use some shaking up. There's a bit of complacency setting in, but more on that and the couples after the jump.

The modern poster-child for a show that's "gone too soon" is
Jericho. The impassioned fans buried CBS under a ton of nuts, which got the show renewed for a shortened second season. Your mileage of the quality of that season may vary, but the fact remains that the fans did something none of these internet campaigns today will be able to.
What people don't realize is that when
Jericho came back for the second run, the ratings weren't any better than when the first season ended. So when they cancel your favorite show and you start mailing in bizarre objects and setting up your web petitions because "it worked for
Jericho," remember that the networks remember
Jericho as well. They remember that it failed to find a sizable audience twice.

There was a real conundrum for
Mad Men last Sunday night. Did you watch the Emmys and see
Mad Men win as Outstanding Drama Series or were you tuned in to watch latest episode from Season Three? Of course, most of you reading are DVR owners and could watch one live and record the other, but watching an award show after you know the winners is a little like watching sports when you know the results.
Well, if a
Mad Men fan has missed any episodes this season, or if they're piled up on the DVR/Tivo queue, making you feel guilty for not keeping up, here's an out.
AMC is going to show a Mad Men Season Three marathon on Sunday, September 27, starting at 10 a.m. All six episodes will air up to the premiere of the last, episode seven, at 10 p.m.

Season four of
Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! has been over for months, and "Season Cinco," as season five has been dubbed on
the pair's Web site, has not yet started. But fans can bide their time with the
Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! S3ASON THR33, which was out earlier this month.
In season three, Tim and Eric took a step up. The shows got funnier and tighter, without losing any of the scattershot, what-the-hell-am-I-looking-at feel. They upped the ante on creepy and uncomfortable with the "Child Showcase" sketch, featuring Patton Oswalt and Rainn Wilson as children singing inappropriate songs while an approving host looks on. It's an immediately unsettling image (though nothing really tops Chippy for that so far), a seamless special effect that puts Oswalt's and Wilson's heads on a kid's body.

When I was in LA a couple of weeks ago, I was among a number of critics who were able to get a look at the first episode of
Mad Men's third season, and I have to tell you, I liked it a lot.
Here's the problem: What do I say about it?
In the various conversations the other critics and I had with Matt Weiner, Jon Hamm and the rest of the cast during the TCAs, we were very politely asked not to reveal anything about the show, especially when it comes to when the first episode takes place. Remember that there was a two-year jump between seasons one and two, and I guess Weiner wants to keep the timeframe a secret this time around.
"You're going to get to see stuff before the audience does," said Weiner about me and my fellow critics. "Let them have the same experience you had."
Fair enough. But without the timeframe and a couple of other tidbits, it's tough to talk much about season three. But I'm gonna try. If I spoil anything, it'll be after the jump.

Things are really cooking at the USA Network. Not only has the new show
Royal Pains been renewed for a second season, but
Burn Notice is also coming back for a fourth.
Law and Order: Criminal Intent is on the verge of being re-upped, and now
In Plain Sight has just gotten a pick-up for Season Three.
Wow! Talk about a winning formula. This part of the Universal family, as opposed to NBC, seems to have figured out how to make dramas work and work well.

At a special panel over the weekend at
Comic-Con, Devil's Due Publishing presented the
new "season" of Jericho, coming this October to a comic shop near you. And they've brought the original writing team from the series to the comic book. Which means, this will be about as true a continuation of the true ongoing vision for
Jericho as you can imagine.
Executive producers Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz revealed that the new series will take the characters right into the
Civil War that was brewing in the second season. They're excited about the possibilities the comic format allows them. As a comparable example, when IDW brought "season six" of
Angel to comics, they transported much of L.A. to a plane of hell, something that would have been cost prohibitive in a live action series.

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner hates spoilers and is really careful about not giving too much away, so I don't know if we really find out anything from this
interview at GQ.
He does say that Don and Roger have issues to work out because Don feels betrayed, and he says that time has passed on the show but won't say how much time (I have to disagree with
GQ when they guess two years, at least according to
this). He also talks about fighting AMC over cutting two minutes of the show.
After the jump, a bonus video: Jon Hamm and John Slattery answer questions from fans.

It's hard to deny the passion that fans of CBS's late apocalyptic drama
Jericho had. Their "nuts" campaign prompted the network to reverse order and bring back the show after officially canceling it. That second season did provide some closure on many of the dangling plot threads, but some fans felt it didn't live up to the quality of the first. Whether this had to do with the reduced episode order or the reduced budget is uncertain, but none of that matters now.
Thanks to the ongoing dedication of those fans, Devil's Due Publishing has inked a deal with CBS Consumer Products to
continue the story of Jericho in comic book format. Both
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and
Angel have had amazing success publishing their new "seasons" in the comic book medium. More recently, Sci Fi's
Farscape launched a comic continuation of its own, while many other properties are telling original tales in comics (
Eureka,
Supernatural and
Fringe come to mind). But with
Jericho being far less sci-fi/fantasy in its presentation, it'll be interesting to see if its fans follow it to this new medium.

(S03E12) This was a really interesting finale for
Dexter, unlike any they've ever done before. I'm not sure how well-received it's going to be amongst the
Dexter fans; I'll be anxious to read the comments.
Me? I really liked it, and I think the growth that Dexter experienced as a person was really important for him. All along, I've posited that Dexter, though he thinks he's a deviant, is more like everyone else than he realizes: same insecurities, same fears. To see him overcome some of these and accept happiness was profound.
Everyone has secrets and they need to be respected. That's the theme of this episode. After the jump, we'll see how the different secrets played out in tonight's finale.

(S03E11) All I have to say about that is ... whoo boy. It is rare to find a show that delivers quality episodes as consistently as
Dexter does. I never come away disappointed, and I sure didn't tonight.
But how are they going to wrap this season up in one episode? My guess is that some loose ends will be left to continue next season, but the major ones will have some conclusion.
I can't even say anything until after the break, this episode was so darned spoilery, but I will say that Dexter did have a dream, as in the title of the episode, and now that dream is dead.

(S03E10) So much is going to happen in the last two episodes of
Dexter, and this episode set it all up. It was a tense one, and I enjoyed watching Dexter's and Miguel's little game of cat and mouse.
However, I really missed some of the lighter moments we often see in
Dexter, like the quotes with double meanings, the underlying serial killer humor, if you will. There was one at the very beginning, though, that was classic Dexter. On toying with the idea of killing Miguel, Dexter says in his voice over: "He's also my best man. I'd be expected to grieve."
Join me after the jump as I delve into some of the foundations that have been laid for the last two episodes.
