Ten actors I want to see on TV

network tenHave you noticed lately that the new faces cropping up on TV series in starring roles are often actors you've never seen before -- or if you have, it was in a supporting role of a feature or a foreign TV show? Think about it, Lee Pace as the Pie Man on Pushing Daisies, Jonny Lee Miller on Eli Stone, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in New Amsterdam, Michelle Ryan in Bionic Woman, all of these leads are relatively new faces. That's one way to cast series. Another is for big stars to take to TV, if not for the first time, than for a return.

In an interesting article at IGN.com, blogger Travis Fickett points out that there used to be a line of demarcation between the worlds of acting: film actors vs. television actors. But nowadays the stars are going back and forth a lot more fluidly.

Sex and the City movie and fashion news

Sex and the CityIt's been a little over two months since we last reported about the Sex and the City movie here at TV Squad. Therefore, it is time to bring you up to speed with the latest happenings since the first trailer was released in early December.

A few days ago, New Line Cinema, via their official SatC blog, posted the hi-res version teaser poster they released mid-January (see picture on the right) of the romantic comedy set to be released on May 30.

Project Runway: I Started Crying

Project Runway(S04E02) Tim Gunn, you lied to us. You told us that this would be the greatest season yet. I have reason to believe you purposely misguided us to
boost ratings. Tim, I thought you were better than this.

I know we're only two episodes into the season, but I'm already bored with everyone. Remember the days of Austin Scarlett or Santino Rice? People that dared to think outside of the box and (occasionally) looked good doing it? Right now we only have Elisa, and her craziness may be more of a handicap than a good thing. I'm bored, Project Runway, and I demand that you entertain me.

Sex and the CityA little over a month has passed since our last article about the Sex and the City movie. Has the novelty already worn off? In early October articles and on-set reports about the movie were pouring all over the web but now, SatC movie news are getting quite rare. Nonetheless, I roamed the web to find the latest happenings since mid-October.

Slight spoilers ahead!

More Sex and the City movie spoilers

Sex and the CityAbout two weeks ago, I gave you the first crop of Sex and the City movie spoilers. These spoilers didn't tell us much about the four girls but gave us a glimpse at the role Dreamgirls' Jennifer Hudson would play. Now that shooting is underway, reporters, paparazzi and fans are doing their best to catch a glimpse of the actors at work and bring us news from the set. This week they delivered!

The on-set picture on the right shows that the ladies will be as fashionable as they were in the series. But that's not what you really want to know, right? You want to know if the ladies are still with their men?

Spoilers warning!

Spoilers about the Sex and the City movie

Sex and the CityEven though I never was much a fan of Sex and the City (I watched a few episodes here and there including the finale), I know how much the series meant to many TV fans and that a lot of people are looking forward to the movie. Richard reported about a month ago that Mr. Big would appear in the movie alongside the four ladies but, other than that, not much had been leaked about the movie.

Since the announcement that SatC was heading to the big screen was made, I've been poking my spoilers sources for gossip about the movie. Today, they delivered.

Spoilers ahead!

(Mr.) Big news for the Sex and the City movie

Chris Noth reprises his role of Mr. Big in the Sex and the City movieUnlike Adam, who first reported back in April that Sex and the City was heading to the bigscreen, I have no opinion about the former HBO comedy. I didn't watch the original run on HBO (except the very last episode) and never watch an episode of the watered-down, syndicated version. I also would not like to have children ice skate across my face. Rollerblade across it? Fine. Just not ice skates. Those things hurt!

My non-opinion doesn't stop me from reporting that Chris Noth will be reprising his role as the dashingly rich Mr. Big in the movie adaption of the show.

TV Squad Daily with Brigitte - VIDEO

Hey, Brigitte here with TV Squad Daily. I'll be covering the TV stories I find interesting each day, Monday through Friday, in this video blog.

Today on TV Squad Daily: Happy Friday!
  • Isaiah Washington wasn't asked to return for another season of Grey's Anatomy. This is good news.
  • Sarah Jessica Parker has a new line of cheap clothes, and says there's forward momentum on a Sex and the City movie, finally.

Sex and the City, the movie: on again?

sarah jessica parkerThe ongoing saga of the Sex and the City film reminds me of the Carrie and Mr. Big relationship. Yes. No. Yes. No. Just make a decision already. Last June, Kat reported that it just wasn't happening. But wait, things change. The latest up in the roller coaster production ride comes from a rumor over at OK magazine. They have a story up that says, "...substantial negotiations have opened with each of the star's teams..."

That's a long way from actually making the movie, but a step in the right direction. The thing I don't get... is there really a market out there for the Sex and the City movie? I quit watching around the time that Miranda got pregnant because I just lost interest. Unless the story for the movie is going to be that Carrie and Charlotte have given up on men and now spend their days frolicking naked in Charlotte's apartment, I can think of dozens of TV shows I would rather see jump to the big screen. Is it just me? Would you go see the Sex and the City movie?
