Grey's Anatomy: Physical Attraction... Chemical Reaction

(L - R) Rockmond Dunbar, Chyler Leigh, Sandra Oh, and Patrick Dempsey
(S04E07) "You know you need it." - Alex

I just don't know what to say anymore. No other show on TV leaves me with such a mixed bag of emotions in quite the same way as Grey's Anatomy does. That's ironic, you realize, because the end result is something I can't fully distinguish as enjoyable or painful... so I go ahead and watch it anyway. I know I've said it before, but the title makes absolutely no sense because the show has almost nothing to do with Meredith at this point. What we've got here is this dramatic anomaly caught somewhere in between St. Elsewhere at its best (for quirkiness) and ER at its worst (for dramatic cheese), with some storylines about face-lift grandmas and chronically constipated men who have sex.

Rescue Me: Seven

John Scurti

(S04E07) "Balls to the wall gentlemen." - Needles

Wow... that was some cold open, huh? Arguably the best the show has had yet. Barely any spoken words and set to some eerie song by who I think was The Twilight Singers. Babies being thrown out windows, bodies piled up on the sidewalk, and seven children who didn't make it. Even Lou said it was one of the worst infernos he'd ever seen. The entire sequence was just very powerful. I even got a little choked up. So does someone want to explain to me how an episode that started off so good ended so flat?

Entourage: The Day Fu*kers

Vince and Eric hanging out by the pool.

(S04E07) "More like a smile I'd like to service." - Turtle

I'm not sure what they were thinking with this episode. It's not that it was bad. I thought it was great - some funny moments and some loose ends tied up. It was sort of like the Vegas episode. Looking at the big picture, it doesn't have much impact on the season but it still provided a nice departure from everything else that's going on. I guess it just goes to show that Entourage can pull off something like this more than once.

The OC: The Chrismukk-huh?

Ryan and Taylor argue as they decorate for Chrismukkah.(S04E07) This was an interesting episode. It's not that I didn't like it, but I just found it a little disappointing. I say that because this episode didn't really do anything to advance the plot of our season. A season, I should remind you, that will only have 16 episodes and may very well be The OC's last. With that in mind, I guess I just expected Josh Schwartz and Co. to give us 16 jam-packed episodes. Up until now they had. This one was fun, it was gimmicky. But it didn't do it for me.

Centering around Ryan and Taylor, the two of them had been fighting about Taylor's "girlfriend status" and whether or not Ryan would be inviting her to Chrismukkah dinner. They were decorating the Cohen's house and in the heat their argument, Taylor tumbled off the ladder and Ryan fell off the roof trying to stop her. Now they're both in comas and when they wake up, nothing is as it seems.

Nip/Tuck: Burt Landau

Christian (Julian McMahon) looks on as Burt Landau (Larry Hagman) recovers.

(S04E07) This episode was a bit of a departure for Nip/Tuck. It wasn't bad, I loved it. It just felt different. In some scenes, it was a even real tear-jerker which is very odd. With this show, if your eyes well up, it's usually because of a graphic surgery scene and you're cringing... not because you actually feel sad. Let me say this though. At first, when I heard the news that Rosie O'Donnell was in talks to give Dawn Budge new life in a Nip/Tuck spin-off, I thought it sounded ridiculous. Well, she sold me on the idea in this episode. O'Donnell is funny in this role. It suits her very well and I think the series could be pretty good if they do it right.
