Damages: Do You Regret What We Did?

Rose Byrne as Ellen Parsons on FX's Damages.

(S01E09) "I want you to feel the disgust in your children's eyes when they look on you in shame." - Patty

Well, that certainly made up for the last few weeks. It's been slow to build, but I think that most of what's going to shape the rest of this season took form in last night's episode of Damages. Granted, a lot happened. Definitely a blink and you missed it kind of situation. But then again, that was one of the things that made me fall in love with the pilot in the first place. I'm actually starting to believe that the writers may be able to wrap this season up with a logical and satisfying ending.

Dirt: This Is Not Your Father's Hostage Situation

Courteney Cox(S01E09) Hmm... not sure how I feel about this episode. It didn't really relate to anything else. Actually, it felt like the type of episode you'd normally see as a ratings stunt. Only problem is that it wasn't all that tense and when something shocking (I say that loosely) did finally happen, it felt forced. Almost as if it got added in because... well, I don't know. It was added for the sake of being added it seemed. If you saw the episode, then you definitely know what I'm talking about. We'll get to that later though.

Centered around a former child star who took Lucy and the DirtNow offices hostage, the episode looked at the "forgotten celebrity." That's kind of an interesting phenomenon if you think about it because they're all over the place and I suppose every now and then, some of them flip out a little. This, however, seemed a little over the top.

NYPD Blue: Ice Follies/Oscar, Meyer, Weiner

NYPD Blue(S01E09/S01E10) This was a pretty interesting episode pairing. The first one, "Ice Follies," was probably the best episode of the season so far. It was tense. It held my attention and I didn't yawn. That's saying something. Before I get to the good stuff though, let's get rid of the boring junk. Once again, Sherry Stringfield's character serves no purpose. Either she's not around at all (which is great) or she randomly enters a scene and you're caught off guard. Since transferring at the DA's office, she's now working in a new role which places her at the station with John. Wonderful. Now we can't avoid her. All I can say is that Stringfield must have sighed with delight when Caruso decided to leave at the end of the season. If she had to hang around as his ex-wife for a second season? That would have been tough. Plus, the first season of ER just wouldn't have been the same.
