Talk about a mismatch: Even though there are plenty of people in the press tour audience who fit in The CW's target demographic of women age 18-34, most of the people who seem to grab the microphone and ask questions during most sessions are firmly not in that demo. In fact, their demo could be described as "men, age 35 - infinity." Hearing some of them ask questions of the young stars of
90210, for instance, sounds almost creepy.
That being said, the CW sessions are always good to attend for two reasons: 1) the comedy stylings of communications chief Paul McGuire, and 2) the frustrating non-answers given by CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff. Both are entertaining in their own way.

Word on the street yesterday was that the
90210 spin-off
executive producers were thinking of actor Rob Estes to portray Harry Mills, a father who relocates his family in Beverly Hills to take care of his alcoholic mother. The show had yet to find an actor to play the pivotal role and they were now getting ready to just hand it on a silver platter to a "name" actor.
The stars quickly aligned (read here that Rob Estes became available since ABC canceled
Women's Murder Club) and
the actor will join the already beautiful 90210 cast.

Earlier this week, The CW released
this promotional picture of the
90210 regular cast. From left to right: Dustin Milligan, AnnaLynne McCord,
Jessica Walter, Shenae Grimes,
Tristan Wilds,
Lori Loughlin, Ryan Eggold, Jessica Stroup and Michael Steger.
If you've been keeping up with
information about the spin-off, you know that there is someone missing from that picture. No, it's not
Jennie Garth or
Tori Spelling since they will be recurring/guest stars. But it's the actor who'll play the pivotal character of Harry Mills, a father who relocates his family in Beverly Hills to take care of his mother.

(S05E12) Good-bye Rob Estes. I am so glad his guest stint on CSI: Miami didn't last long because he played a total ass. This was probably the best episode of the season and I'm not saying that just because I hated the character of Nick Townsend. If you actually think about how this episode played out, the way it was written, and how the few characters involved were all connected at the end, it was very well done.
There were a lot of things that I liked about this episode actually. Giving more time to some lesser characters (Jake and Valera) was very cool to see. It was also funny to see the night shift team and how inept they are. But nothing beats Horatio and those canned one-liners. I missed those.

I caught this episode when it aired a couple of weeks ago, and I hadn't planned on writing anything up about it. In fact, even after seeing the episode, I wasn't so sure I wanted to write about it. But since we've gotten a few requests, I figured it was time to post some of my thoughts on the pilot episode of this new series.
I actually talked about this show a bit on the
last APB podcast with Ryan, siting some of my issues with it. I agreed with Ryan's assessment of Orlando Jones -- he deserves a show. He's come a long way from 7-UP commercials, and I really think he should have what it takes to lead or co-lead a series, though I think drama's not his forte, no matter how many quirky lines he's handed.
