Opportunity Knocks-related stories

Has anyone else noticed the lack of hair trigger cancellations thus far this season? We're a good month or more in now and only
Opportunity Knocks and
Do Not Disturb have had the plug pulled. And believe me those needed to happen. By now, though, your high quality shows that have underperformed like
Pushing Daisies usually would be doing just that ... pushing up daisies. But, for some reason, not this year. At least not yet.
Hell, ratings-challenged shows like
Knight Rider and
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles are even getting full season pick-ups. And that's FOX giving
Sarah Connor a chance to find an audience! FOX!! I think what we're seeing is the continuing fallout from the Writer's Strike last year. Remember when the execs were talking about how they were going to rethink their approach to television, ordering fewer pilots and possibly even altering the landscape of television in regards to seasons and sweeps? Well, the fall season started up pretty much like it always has, but I do believe there are far fewer shows waiting in the wings to replace this season's failures.

So ABC has
canceled the reality game show Opportunity Knocks, the Ashton Kutcher show where family members win money if they know a lot about other family members. The show hasn't been doing well in the ratings at all. The cancellation takes effect immediately, though ABC has a handful of episodes in the can which they're going to show
whenever they can find a time slot where it won't hurt them at a more convenient time.
So I bet you're thinking, "Gee, I wonder what show is going to replace
Opportunity Knocks?" Which of the following shows do you think it is?

The remaining panels on ABC's first day were for
Eli Stone, the Ashton Kutcher-produced game show
Opportunity Knocks, and a panel for the upcoming Country Music Association events on the network. For the latter panel, Julianne Hough, who has twice partnered with the celebrity champion of
Dancing with the Stars, sang a few songs from her current country album. Pretty girl. Nice voice. Dancer's body. But that's all I can say about the panel, because I bolted shortly after she was done singing.
The
Eli Stone panel featured the entire cast along with executive producers Greg Berlanti (who seems to be producing two-thirds of ABC's scripted dramas) and Marc Guggenheim. Surprisingly enough, there was only one question about the presence of
Katie Holmes as a guest star this season. The reason why she's there is a shock -- they brought her in to get ratings! Will wonders never cease?

It looks like someone took the effort to create a Flash player with embedded videos of many of the upcoming new fall shows. Included are clips from
Dollhouse,
Fringe,
Life on Mars,
The Eleventh Hour, Scrubs, The Cleveland Show, The Goode Family (pictured right) as well as several others. I only had a chance to look at some of them. The previews aren't of all the new shows available in the fall (NBC only has one preview), but it's still quite a few. Which ones are missing?
