Somewhere tonight
American Idol judge Simon Cowell is grinning. You can just imagine it, can't you? That smile that he wore on
Britain's Got Talent when he heard Susan Boyle sing "I Dreamed A Dream" from
Les Miserables, remember? Simon was smart enough to take that talented lady and make her a star. Oh yes, she had the talent, but Simon had the wherewithal. And today it's paid off with the news that
Susan Boyle's debut CD is number one on the UK charts.
The record keepers across the pond, the Official Charts Company, announced that Boyle's CD, also called
I Dreamed A Dream, sold 410,000 copies since its release on November 23. That means it's not only the top of the chart, it's also the fastest selling album this year. It's even the most albums sold in the first week of a release for a British debut.

It's bigger than the NFL. It's drawing more than celebrity dancing. It's the little show that could. In its seventh season on the air,
NCIS is the number one show according to the Nielsen ratings. Over 21 million viewers for the week of September 28 put the drama series on the top of the heap, and there's no sign that it was a fluke. This is the
second week in a row NCIS was the top show.
The question a lot of people are asking, especially those who don't watch or have never even checked out
NCIS is this: how did that happen? It's not normal for a show to get stronger after the five year mark. Some, like a
Seinfeld for example, start slowly and nearly are canceled, but then find an audience and remain secure for the rest of it's run. Before
Seinfeld,
The Dick Van Dyke Show had done the same thing.

Late last week,
actor Chris Engen reportedly bolted from
The Young & the Restless, walking out on a front-burner story line on the number one rated daytime drama because he objected to his character sharing a kiss with another man. This week,
Y&R's former Adam Wilson issued a statement online to tell his side of the story.
Engen wasn't unhappy with the gay twist, declared that he is not homophobic and said he didn't quit the show over religious objections. According to the first-time soap actor, "I felt generally unhappy about my contribution to the show, and had greater and greater difficulty making any sense of the challenges they were asking me to face."
