(S35E05) I had to talk myself through being allowed to criticize Taylor Swift. Ever since Kanye West VMA outburst turned everyone in America into Swift's over-protective mom, she's been shown even more as an innocent country-inspired sweetheart. Every time she messed up in this episode, I felt the need to hold back any not-super-great remarks because, well, she's a teeny-bopper! Teeny-boppers are just kids goofin' around!
And then I have to pause and remind myself that she's almost 20-years-old, around the same age as Shia LaBeouf and Ellen Page when they first hosted and Abby Elliiott when she initially joined the featured players. Screw it, there's no need to hold back. Swift is a musician, so we can't expect her acting skills to be super-good, but the fact I keep thinking she's only 14 shouldn't affect anything else.

Cinematical are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:
- I do not ever, under any circumstances, wish to see Andy Griffith's "O" face. But if you're into that kind of thing, here ya go.
- For all of you Twihards out there: Cinematical has new images from New Moon.
- "Okay. It's like The Blob, but you know, without the blob thing. But it's totally a remake of The Blob. Get it?" It sounds like that's kind of how Rob Zombie's movie pitch went.
- I'm going to see The Final Destination this weekend. I have never seen any of the other movies in the series, and I do not give a single crap about the "plot" or "characters." The point is, it is in 3-D and there are crazy body parts flying around and people getting killed in very awkward ways. Movie WIN.
- Cinematical is not very happy about the Heathers TV show that is in the works.

Cinematical are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:
- The last thing in the world I need is more tiny crap to fall into my purse's black, gaping maw, so the idea of movies on USB drives doesn't really appeal to me, but I can see how some people may be into it.
- I've seen several trailers for G-Force, and it looks like a completely awful kids' movie, but the cast is amazing. Zack Galifianakis, Tracy Morgan, and Will Arnett? I don't understand what is going on here at all. See if you can make some sense of it with Cinematical's review of G-Force.
- Hot Tub Time Machine: "It could very well be the most awesomest hot tub time machine-related film ever made in the history of hot tub time machine films." I don't even know what to say about this. You can check out the teaser on Cinematical.
- I still don't really understand the appeal of sparkly vampires (I'm more of a zombie girl, myself), but in case it's your bag, you can check out the highlights of the New Moon panel at San Diego Comic Con.
- Oh my God, I totally agree with #1 on the Cinematical Seven: Creepy Kids on Film. The Bad Seed is horrifying.

TV Guide has a couple of weekly recap shows about
American Idol when it's on, but even so this seems a bit excessive. I know
Twilight is a big hit with the kids, but is it big enough that we need a
weekly hour-long show to build up to the premiere of New Moon, the second film in the franchise.
"This week we'll interview the cast and crew and show you some sets. Next week we can talk more to the cast and show you another piece of set. Ooh! Ooh! Wanna see an exclusive six second sneak preview of Jacob growing fur and a snout. Enthralling!" Sadly, this will probably work. If nothing else, it will get young girls watching ReelzChannel.
I have no problem with the behind-the-scenes specials we get to spotlight upcoming movies, but an entire series based on one movie seems a bit ridiculous. That said, maybe NBC should look at picking this up in case Leno doesn't work out. Make it a nightly thing. After all, there's more movies coming!

I'm neck-deep in the midst of a vampire obsession. I'm
one of the Twi-hards eagerly awaiting the Nov. 20 release of Stephenie Meyer's next vamp-flick,
New Moon. I was immediately sucked into HBO's
True Blood, and can't wait for its return in May.
I recently sped through the short-lived
Moonlight and fell in love with Mick St. John. And its taken me all of about a week to get to season three of
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (though I don't know if I can take much more of the on again-off again romance of Buffy and Angel - don't tell me how it plays out).
I'm sure I'll be equally enthralled with
The CW pilot, Vampire Diaries. It doesn't hurt that
Steven R. McQueen, grandson of the legendary Steve McQueen has landed a lead role. I bet even those not as enamored with vamps will tune in just to see him: Does he look like his grandfather? Act like him? Have the same "something"?
