Moment of Truth-related stories

In general, you could mark me down as a fan of reality TV. I've never missed Survivor, written thousands of words about Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, and despite what my daily uniform of jeans, t-shirt, and Chuck Taylors would suggest, I even watch Project Runway. The one show I actively root against though, is Moment Of Truth.
I just can't find anything to like about the show, from the concept right on through to the execution. It's with that in mind that I excitedly clicked on the entry in my feed reader telling me that Hole In The Wall was replacing it. Hosted by Brooke Burns (Dog Eat Dog), Hole In The Wall is the latest incarnation of a game popularized in Japan. Before the jump to the US there were already successful adaptations in a number of other countries.
The success has a lot to do with the simplicity of the concept. A wall, with a shape cut in it, moves toward the contestants and they have to contort their body to pass through the hole or be swept into the water. As they fail to do so, hilarity ensues, hopefully. Get a look for yourself, after the jump.

A day hasn't gone by where we haven't received some sort of tip or email asking us, the TV Squad, how to get on [insert reality show here]. Unfortunately no, Simon Cowell does not work for us, and Donald Trump isn't my BFF, so we really can't help all that much.
The folks at RealityWanted.com often send us a list of new and existing reality shows that are looking for new, er, talent, and they've given us permission to make mention of them here. We'll try to make this a regular feature as often as we get a new list.
This time we have Rock of Love, Family Court and a lot of new shows.

Here are the weekly TV ratings, by number of viewers.
Um, OK, I had to do a double take (or maybe a triple) when I saw these ratings for Lost. Number 1 for the week?? I knew it would do better since it was the season finale, but the top spot, up 18 spots from last week? That's pretty cool.
The new edition of Password took the number 3 spot. Meanwhile, the number 18 show really kinda baffles me.
1. Lost (ABC)
2. Two and a Half Men (CBS)
3. Million Dollar Password (CBS)

Your scary thought of the day comes from this Reuters article. When talking about how many reality shows are now
facing pressure to cut budgets and shoot shows faster they drop this bomb in, "The rapid pace can affect a show's quality..." Great! Because what the TV world really needs right now is some lower quality reality programming. I get Fox Reality. Based on some of what I've seen while flipping by there, I really thought the bottom of that barrel had been discovered.
As part of the discussion they cite the rise in studio based reality, highlighting Fox's Moment Of Truth. They also throw out that crappy stat that it was the highest-rated new program of the season. Is there anyone, anywhere, including the producers of Moment Of Truth, that doesn't think that was entirely to do with American Idol? I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that when the Tuesday ratings are in they bring with them a karmic Nielsen slap that puts that show in its proper place.

The half dozen things that TV Squad readers - and TV fans in general - will be talking about this week. A new feature every Monday.
1. The Lost season finale. Spoiler: they're all robots! (Thursday at 9 on ABC)
2. The Sex and the City movie. I don't see why this show needs a new movie (on the big screen anyway), but I'm sure there will be a bunch of people who go see it. Warning: movie theaters don't sell martinis so you'll have to wait until after the movie. (Starts this Friday)
3. Battlestar Galactica. Yup, some of the biggies still have new episodes (Friday at 10 on Sci-Fi).
4. The new reality shows from Denise Richards and Dina Lohan. I started to cry a little when I wrote that sentence. (Starts tonight on E!)
5. TV fans in a holding pattern. We're in that weird time of year, after most of the season finales have aired, and we're waiting for the new summer shows (Burn Notice, Mad Men, Californication, Law and Order: CI, etc) to start. Go outside and eat a salad, or whatever it is that healthy, TV-less people supposedly do.
6. Moment of Truth returns. This was the #1 new show last season. And it's all your fault. (Returns tomorrow at 8 on FOX)

We continue with our roundup of the season-ending ratings (here is the season winner and the May sweeps winner) with a list of the top 20 shows for the season. The first two shows aren't going to be a surprise to anyone (though the number of times one show shows up on the list might be surprising to some). How many shows on this list do you watch? I watch one show all the time and I watch another show a little bit. The other 18 1/2 shows I don't watch at all, which is odd because I watch a ton of television every week.
Only one sitcom made the top 20, and there was only one show from NBC. Do you know what those two shows are? Answer after the jump.
(Oh, I know The CW logo is in the pic above, but you won't find any of their shows on the list.)

I'm going to be honest with you because you all have been honest with me. Sometimes a bit too honest. Sometimes honest to the point of being creepy and making me change my phone number. But, honest nonetheless.
Anyway, I may be a bit jaded in my opinions of the summer schedule that FOX released last week. I mean, they take two of the most popular dramas on their schedule -- Bones and House -- and just bounce them around the schedule so much just so they can accommodate five thousand hours of American Idol. Frankly, it pisses me off a bit.
That's why I need your help to determine if I am way off in thinking that their summer programming schedule is a heaping pile of poo. Take a look at the schedule after the jump and then we'll talk.
