Keith Olbermann! Come on down! You're the next TV celebrity whose death has been falsely reported on the Internet!
The MSNBC Countdown's Wikipedia page reported he had died earlier this morning, possibly due to complications from celiac disease.
I sent emails to two networks officials to confirm this jarring claim. Jeremy Gaines, MSNBC's vice president of communications, responded that he is certain the entry is a "hoax" and that he and other network officials were working to correct it. The section on Olbermann's death has since been removed from the page.

Looks like the Disney Channel underestimated the power of Nickelodeon's
iCarly. Their attempts to squash the possible threat to their
Hannah Montana empire were squashed, however, when a special
iCarly smashed the second episode of
JONAS, the new star vehicle for the Jonas Brothers. So to make themselves feel better, and despite what Miley Cyrus may have been saying, the show will go on.
Disney has picked up Hannah Montana for a fourth season, as well as Demi Lovato's
Sonny With a Chance for a second.
As for
JONAS, it's already been yanked from Saturdays where, despite an impressive debut, it got slammed in its second outing by
iCarly. So now, it's joining the Disney Sunday lineup, where it can nestle snugly behind
Hannah Montana and
Sonny With a Chance. This does create a powerhouse Sunday night for the network, while protecting the two newer shows with the power of Miley Cyrus.

Disney is doing everything they can to make sure that their target demo of 9-14 year olds can't breathe without choking on the Russos of
Wizards of Waverly Place. Other than that, And with Miley Cyrus talking publicly about life after
Hannah Montana, whenever that might be, it's time to look to
Wizards of Waverly Place's Selena Gomez. As such,
Disney has renewed Wizards for a third season and even greenlit a telefilm for the property.
What they really need to do is stream it on Hulu to ensure it is. The kids are online, you know.

If you ask me, it's a little early to throw in the towel completely on television at sixteen years old, Miley. Look how well that worked out for David Caruso when he told
NYPD Blue to kiss his ass so he could be the next big Hollywood movie star? Granted, Miley Cyrus' level of celebrity is on a completely different plane than Lt. Horatio Caine; I don't recall Caruso on the cover of
Tiger Beat every week back in the day.
Nevertheless, Miley Cyrus indicated that she would be
done with television after
Hannah Montana wraps its run on the Disney Channel. She's already said she doesn't want to do
Hannah Montana in film any more either. So it looks like Cyrus will be looking to follow the path that Lizzy McGuire AKA Hilary Duff did when she walked away from the Mouse.

The prospect of a news show featuring people with disabilities interviewing celebrities and people on the street sounds like a sick way to spend a Sunday evening. That assumption doesn't help when you see
South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker's names under the executive producer heading, two guys who made the phrase "Timmy!" and "cripple fight" part of the American pop culture lexicon.
But as
Stone said himself in my soon-to-be awarding winning interview (my boss said he would put a gold star on my next paycheck),
How's Your News? -- which premieres at 10:30 tomorrow night on MTV -- aims to change the audience's perspective on more than one level.
It's a journey of self-discovery for both the participants and the viewers and that's a big step for a network that has had a hard time figuring out what it's supposed to be.

Admit it ... you're obsessed with the Jonas Brothers (known in the tween world as the Jo Bros) and Miley Cyrus (known in the tween world as -- Miley Cyrus). You wake up in Hannah Montana pajamas, you eat your cereal with your Miley Cyrus spoon, and you make sure you have safe sex with your Jo Bros' IUD. But, you need more to satisfy your craving for Disneyfied bubblegum rock and pop. Thing is, you fear that you have exhausted all of your resources.
Have some faith, slightly creepy one. Fact of the matter is the Disney Channel is watching your back. Starting at 5:30 pm tonight, the network will be premiering the Jonas Brothers' newest video, as well as Miley's first video from her new Hannah Montana movie. If that weren't enough to sustain you, Disney will be broadcasting the Kids Inaugural: We Are the Future concert, which will feature not only the Jo Bros and Miley, but Demi Lovato and Bow Wow (no longer 'Little').
See? Everything will be okay. Now you can get dressed in your High School Musical pants suit and head out to your job as CEO of a multi-billion dollar company.

OK, here's the thing about this. I really do get why
Oprah is powerful. She's in charge of her own show (remember years ago when she fought to gain control and fired a bunch of people?); she's launched a bunch of other shows, including
Rachel Ray, Dr. Phil, and maybe Dr. Oz coming up; she opened that school for girls in Africa; people read the books she recommends; they buy the stuff she likes; and she even had a hand in getting Obama into the White House.

The Disney Channel has ordered
six additional episodes for the third season of their ridiculously successful series
Hannah Montana. The series stars teen icon Miley Cyrus in an effort to maximize her exposure before she is
sacrificed for the harvest.
This brings the number of total episodes of the season to 30. When does any show get thirty episodes per season? The number I've always understood to be the maximum is 24 (and that's only for a series that is actually called
24). My guess is they're trying to wring as much they can from Miley before she goes to her inevitable solo career. Perhaps Disney should just create a new character for the franchise: Miley Mouse.
As a side note, Disney has also ordered more episodes of
The Suite Life on Deck, a series I've never heard of but I'm sure parents of very young children will be sick of before too long.

(S07E21) In the grand tradition of Dancing With The Stars, everyone came together for the glorious task of turning 3 minutes of results into a two hour ratings bonanza. If you have seen the finale before, you know how it all went down. Take a couple of musical numbers, interviews or dances with all the eliminated contestants, and add in a whole lot of replays as the show looks back at all that has gone on. It's not the greatest recipe for a two hour show, but after 20 episodes of top ten numbers, I suppose they've earned it. I'll not spoil the big surprise before the jump, so hit the link for a brief look at all that went on, and to find out who took home the mirrorball.

- Disney's coming out with a non-Pixar animated movie. It involves Miley Cyrus and an adorable puppy! But is it any good? Find out when Cinematical reviews Bolt.
- Apparently Australia makes movies. You know, other than the upcoming Australia. They're not movies I've ever seen, but the Cinematical Seven takes a look at the greatest movies to come from the former penal colony.
- Look, if you're my fourteen-year-old niece, you're going to put on your Hot Topic arm warmers and see Twilight the moment it comes out. It will quickly become the Best. Movie. Ever., regardless of whether or not it's actually good. For those of you who are old like me, you may want to check out Peter Martin's review of Twilight to see if this vampire love story (that's what it is, right?) is worth shelling out ten bucks for.
- Dude. Twilight is huge. Cinematical is taking care of all of your Kristen Stewart interview needs. She's the human lady, right?.
- So the ending of 1986's Little Shop of Horrors? Not the original one. Cinematcial has the much darker ending here.

I have a tween-aged girl in the household, so we watch a fair amount of
Disney Channel. I'll come clean and even announce that
Miley Cyrus,
The Cheetah Girls, and Demi Lovato share iPod space with AC/DC, Jeff Beck, and Aerosmith. Hey, those Disney Channel tunes are catchy, and they're easy to dance, I mean, walk to. I draw the line at the
Jonas Brothers, though.
But about 10 minutes into the new
Cheetah Girls: One World movie the other night, my daughter looked at me and said, "I was really hoping these Cheetah Girls movies would get better." Yeah, me, too.
I actually liked the first two movies, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. The second, directed by
High School Musical alum Kenny Ortega, was a downright cute tale about the Girls' escapades in Spain.

Parents, it is time to put our collective feet firmly on the ground. We have spent the last year-and-a-half pumping billions of dollars into the monstrosity that is the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus empire with the ever-increasing amount of products that give our daughters fits whenever they see them in the store. Everything and anything with even a picture of The Hannah or Miley has come into our homes, making our childless neighbors or those with a cadre of boys scratch their heads in curiosity as to why this teenager's face graces so many surfaces.
Well, I say enough is enough! Time to put down our wallets and purses, straighten up and notify our children, in a firm but gentle manner, that we will no longer be supporting their Hannah/Miley addiction. The best place to start is to let them know that, in no uncertain terms, will we be plunking down $250 a pop (plus airfare, lodging, and rental car) to wish Ms. Cyrus a happy 16th birthday at Disneyland on October 5th. Oh, Cyrus will perform a few songs at the party, and it will be limited to 5000 of her closest fans. But, will the cost be worth it for something your daughters will forget when Miley eventually fades into the limelight and they begin to think about (gasp!) boys?
But, if you can't resist, you better get to your phone, computer, or Disneyland now to be one of the first when tickets go on sale this Saturday at 9:00 AM PDT (that's noon to us East Coasters). Don't worry, the rest of us will be there to support you when you return. Just make sure you bring pictures and souvenirs of the event. Hey, we have only so much strength, you know!

The
Teen Choice Awards will feature a dance battle between two of the toughest, roughest, street-est (not a word, I know) dance crews around. No, Lil C and his crew won't be there crumping. Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux's M&M Cru will battle ACDC, the dance crew featuring Jon M. Chu and Adam Sevani of
Step Up 2: The Streets. The two crews are BFFs and they challenged each other back in April. A more heated rivalry has not been seen since TuPac and Biggie. Yeah! Totally street. "Street" is even in the name of the movie.
The
Teen Choice Awards have some other performers and appearances lined up too. But they're not "street" so who cares? Shia LaBeouf, David Archuleta, James Marsden, Sophia Bush, Josh Holloway, Scarlett Johansson, Zac Efron, Pink, JoJo, Kristen Bell, and Hayden Panettiere are some of the other names previously announced. Mariah Carey is slated to perform her new single, "I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time."
The
Teen Choice Awards will air on August 4th at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

www.TeenChoiceAwards.com. If you've just put in a turkey to roast and have some time, you can follow the link to the complete list of
Teen Choice Awards 2008 nominees, of which I can only say ... damn, that's a lot of categories. Do teens really have that kind of attention span anymore to make it through these categories and vote?
As reported earlier, Miley Cyrus has been signed to host with the show airing Monday, August 4 at 8pm ET. I've dropped in the TV-only categories and nominees after the jump, and there are a ton of categories covering a much wider range of television shows than really any of the major television awards do. There are oodles of reality show categories and more specifically, a category for "looking for love" reality shows. Really? And still only one category for animated shows?
