Review: Dancing with the Stars - Performance 8 Results

Dancing with the Stars' final five
(S09E17) Dancing with the Stars continues to chug along having five couples become four. With such a small number, the results shows feel even more stretched out, slowly saving contestants one at a time.

Encore - Joanna & Derek - Paso Doble - Len thought that even though Mya had the higher score, the paso was so detailed that it deserved the encore. The two actually looked better with their hair tonight than last night; I could tell that it was them. On the second time around, I believed that they deserved a 30 and Mya only should have gotten a 29.

Jon Bon Jovi teams with NBCU for major album promotion

jon_bon_joviIn the last month, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston and Michael Bublé have all appeared and sang on The Oprah Winfrey Show. All three have had number one albums. Coincidence? No. Good promotion (although Whitney had already reached number one by the time she warbled on Oprah). Therefore, I have to wonder why Jon Bon Jovi has entered an exclusive "artist in residence" deal with NBC Universal? For two months, Bon Jovi will promote the new Bon Jovi CD, The Circle, only just on NBCU channels.

You'll see him on Today, The Tonight Show, The Jay Leno Show, Saturday Night Live, a segment of the NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams and a sit down with James Lipton on Bravo's Inside the Actors' Studio. When The Circle is released on November 10, you'll know all about it... if you've watched NBC and Bravo.

So You Think You Can Dance: Top 8 Revealed

Kherrington and Mark doing the Country Two-Step (S04E17) Well, we've certainly moved on to the next part of the competition. America decides. And we don't have to listen to cranky Nigel or that lunatic Mary anymore. Lil C, however, I will listen to. I thought he was a great judge last night. And his comments tonight were good, too. Speaking of Wednesday night, the big announcement was that Comfort would be replacing Jessica (who has a couple broken ribs).

But we got another big announcement last night -- So You Think You Can Dance received four Emmy nominations. The make-up team was nominated as well as three choreographers. Wade Robson's Hummingbird & Flower piece got a nod as did Mandy Moore's Table routine (the one to "Sweet Dreams") and Shane Sparks' Transformers number to "Fuego." Mia Michaels is crying in corner somewhere. You'll get 'em next year Mia.

Tony Bennett says American Idol is 'too cruel'

Tony BennettSeveral of American Idol's disgruntled ex-contestants, including Jennifer Hudson and most recently, Paris Bennett, have slammed the reality show in the press. But as far as I can recall, 80-year-old crooner Tony Bennett is the first celebrity mentor to publicly criticize the mighty Idol.

Bennett reportedly called the show "too cruel" in an interview with Time Out London. Bennett, who coached this season's hopefuls during the first week of April, said, "I had it out with Simon when I met him and suggested that he should open up tiny clubs across the countries so the kids could break in and learn properly."

Michael Buble you are not an American Idol

Michael Buble might have been hitting the bubbly Someone should have told Michael Buble to put down the pipe rehearse before he took the American Idol stage last night. Did Michael Buble's publicist even give him the memo that he was going to be performing?

Having personally seen Tony Bennett and Michael Buble in concert, I would have confidently told you that Michael Buble would certainly show the contestants and the world how singing standards should be done.

His performance was nothing but a true disappointment...

American Idol: Live Results Show #7

Gina Glocksen says farewell(S06E27) We are slowly inching our way closer to the grand finale, which means that another finalist has to go home tonight. I know, it's sad, but this is the only way we'll get closer to crowning a new American Idol.

Tonight, the finalists are separated into three different groups of three on stage. One group is the Best Three, one is the Middle Three, and one is the Bottom Three. And looking at the breakdown, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess which group is which.
