Even if he is taking time off between his past TV Guide gig and
his new job at Entertainment Weekly, gossip columnist Michael Ausiello took a few minutes to post a little casting scoop on his
personal website. According to his trusted sources, cutie
Men in Trees actor James Tupper will continue to charm the ladies during the next TV season; fans of the actor will be able to see him in
at least three episodes of ABC's hit comedy
Samantha Who?Slight spoilers about the role coming up!Continue reading James Tupper joins Samantha Who?

We've been hearing rumblings, published and otherwise, that
TV Guide was in trouble, especially the venerable print edition. Earlier this month, for instance, the title's new owner, Macrovision, took over and immediately announced its plans to keep the
online version of the magazine and
either sell or shutter the print version, which has been published since 1953.
So the following news might not be much of a surprise: Michael Ausiello,
TVG's scoop and spoiler maven, is taking his perky writing style and massive Rolodex to
Entertainment Weekly, where he'll write for the TV sections of both the magazine and
website starting July 2.
Oh, and how did we find this out? Mike sent us (and probably hundreds of others) the press release announcing his arrival. Never said the guy wasn't good at self-promotion.

When Sara left
CSI, driving out of Las Vegas on her way to who knows what, he left behind a brokenhearted Gil Grissom. The producers of
CSI were wise to keep the door open for the character to return, and that's just what's happening -- at least for one show.
According to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, Jorja Fox will be in the season premiere of CSI. Oh, and she won't be the only former cast mate on the show; so will Gary Dourdan as Warrick.
I know, I know -- I can hear you now, how is that possible? Didn't he die in the
CSI finale? When we last saw Warrick, he'd been shot twice and left to die in his car. Could the CSI have survived a bullet through the neck? He was slumped over the steering wheel, so he looked dead. And the sheriff shot him a second time -- presumably a death shot to the head since it was an execution.

Last month, Anna told you which shows were on the bubble, the shows that were might not be coming back. Now TV Guide's Michael Ausiello has an updated list of which shows are in trouble. He gives a 1-10 rating for each show, 10 meaning the show is definitely coming back and 0 meaning the stars should start looking for work right now.

Michael Ausiello at
TVGuide.com has been playing with his calculator, or maybe it was an abacus. Anyway, Mike has used some oh-so-creative math to add two and two together to get a major revelation on a CBS sitcom. Okay, here's the scoop.
Mr. Ausiello has gotten an exclusive casting tidbit from How I Met Your Mother.Alicia Silverstone, star of
Clueless on the big screen
, Miss Match on the small, has been signed for a series of episodes, a mini-arc.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this information.
Michael Ausiello is reporting that NBC and the people behind The Office are thinking about creating a spinoff of the sitcom. The plan is to introduce several new characters on The Office and then later spin them off into their own show (none of the original Office cast would be on the new show). I'm not sure why Ausiello calls this paying a major compliment to Grey's Anatomy (what, there weren't spinoffs before Private Practice?), and I'm not sure if I like this idea or not.

It seems like Rob Thomas is going through a mid-career crisis. After his series Veronica Mars was not renewed by the CW network back in May, Thomas has been floating around the television world looking for a new venture. Back in early July he was picked to head up the new ABC series Miss/Guided. However, two weeks later he left his position as executive producer and showrunner under the "creative differences" umbrella (I wonder if I could use that line when I leave my IT position).
Now, according to our dear, dear friend Michael Ausiello over at TV Guide, Thomas has joined Big Shots (another ABC show) as a consulting producer. He will be in good company this time around as the executive producers of the show, Danielle Stokdyk and Jennifer Gwartz, were former producers on Veronica Mars.

Yeah, so do I.
Were you watching The View the other day and wondering why they announced Whoopi was joining the gang but didn't say anything at all about Sherri Shepherd? TV Guide's Michael Ausiello says it's because she wants a lot more money than ABC wants to pay her. In fact, she wants to make at least what Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck are making. ABC is reportedly looking at other celebs, including Kathy Griffin and Jacquie Reid from CNN.
This is the same woman who pretty much no one even knew until she started to guest host on The View, right? And the same woman who doesn't believe in evolution? Yeah, I thought so.

On the heels of news that Rory Cochrane is returning to one of the other CSI shows, CSI: Miami, comes this news: Jorja Fox is probably on her way out.
CSI Producer Carol Mendolsohn tells TV Guide's Michael Ausiello that they have just cast a new female lab technician that will be introduced in the third episode, and there are hints that she's not just a new cast member but a new cast member that will take over for Jorja Fox, whose Sara character might die in that car crash. Executive Producer Jonathan Littman says that the Grissom/Sara storyline will definitely be resolved, and didn't say if Fox would be in the show this season beyond the season opener.
So I guess now we can try to figure out how a dead Sara will come back to the show a year from now.

Just when you think the Denny Debacle was over...
Mike Ausiello over at TVGuide.com
is reporting that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is returning to
Grey's Anatomy as Denny Duquette; he'll appear in an episode later this season. Of course,
Grey's fans know Denny, since he was an integral part of the season-ending plotline last year. You remember... Izzie falls in love with the prostrate Denny, they get engaged, then she cuts his LVAD lines to help him move up the heart transplant list. We also know that Denny croaked and left Izzie with a bundle of money.
How do you bring a dead character back? Dream sequences, silly! Either that or a flashback will be in order. Ausiello has his ideas, though, including bringing Morgan back as an ET, a ghost, or Denny's twin brother Kenny. Yeah, I'm laughing on the inside, too.

Sometimes there are news stories and (*gasp*) even spoilers that, once I've read them, I wish I hadn't. Case in point, Rob Thomas
revealed to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello that within the span of 12 hours, Michael McKean had accepted and then passed on the role of the dean of Hearst College, the backdrop school for most of the next season of
Veronica Mars. I agree with Thomas -- that truly is the most depressing casting news in the world. How the heck am I going to like the person filling those shoes now?

Sometimes I get the feeling that Mike Ausiello of
TV Guide has a life goal of having a lengthy interview with everyone who's ever been involved with
Gilmore Girls. But that might be a good thing, considering he usually draws good information out of these people.
Anyway, when Milo Ventimiglia came by the TVG offices, I would imagine he did it to promote
Heroes, his new fall show on NBC. But Ausiello
peppered him with
GG questions anyway. Some good tidbits came out: He won't be back as Jess; Lauren Graham may or may not have 2 years left on her contract, and Alexis Bledel has only one year left. In conclusion, he feels the same as most people: the upcoming 7th season of
Gilmore will be the last one. Oh, and he mentions some stuff about
Heroes and his role in (gulp)
Rocky VI.
Next up: Ausiello interviews the key grip from
GG seasons 1-3; I'm sure
he'll have some insights on Lauren Graham's contract, too.

OK, so we're all trying to figure out what the hell happened on
Lost the other night. For all the new questions the arose (what was that big foot statue, who were the two guys in the Arctic station at the end, are Locke/Eko/Desmond dead, etc), I think the biggest question I have is, what the heck is wrong with Charlie? Wasn't he acting just a little bit peculiar last night? The way he acted with Locke and with Eko, and then when the hatch exploded, the next scene we see the castaways just sitting around a fire and he kisses Claire. Didn't he go to see what happened in the hatch after the big light explosion and that weird noise? Aren't the other castaways wondering what was up with that and where Locke/Eko/Desmond are? That was a weird scene, and I'm trying to figure out whether it means something or if it was just lazy writing.
Anyway, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello held a chat at WashingtonPost.com, and he is asked many questions about the season finale (which he loved).
Check it out.
