It just has a ring to it, don't you think? I doubt that we'll see Rainn bulking up Stallone-style to save the world with a knife and his guile, but he did just land a role in Michael Bay's Transformers 2. It doesn't really get more action movie than that. Wilson will play a college professor to Shia LaBeouf's Sam. It will be interesting to see how much, if any, Schrute makes it into the character.
But wait, there's more. Fans of the gone but not forgotten Las Vegas will be happy to learn that Josh Duhamel will be returning for the sequel. And fans of ridiculously hot girls will be happy to know that FHM's Sexiest Woman In The World, Megan Fox, is also returning. A warning, that FHM link is safe for my workplace, but might not be for yours. If you can't wait for Bay to finish all of those CGI sequences to get your Rainn fix, you can also catch him this summer in The Rocker as a failed drummer who gets a second chance at fame. That one also features Teddy Geiger (Love Monkey), and the trailer is after the jump.

(S03E20) "Head Games" marks the beginning of the star studded, three part, season three finale. It was a good way to kick things off. There is a murder case for Devalos to prosecute, a new friend(?) for Allison, a new head doctor for Joe, visions that may or may not be correct, a new baby... just a lot going on. It's a good thing there are three parts to this.
Seeing as how the episode opened with Walter Paxton (Jason Priestley), let's start there. The dream within a dream open was very good. The head in the pantry came as quite a surprise, and led to a great Joe moment. He was so calm and forgiving when he woke up in the dream, but so frustrated and fed up when he woke up for real.

CBS executives are looking to diversify their primetime line-up, and with good reason. From the three
CSI franchises, to
Without a Trace and
Cold Case, the network has an awful lot of procedural dramas. Luckily, the execs recognize that and they've given themselves (and everyone else) an order to get creative. Already, they're working on a 1970s drama about wife swapping and the sexual revolution, a show about the women's movement, and a comedy from one of the
Borat writers. The weirdest thing they have lined up is an American version of the U.K. hit, Viva Blackpool. Variety describes it as "a musical thriller featuring characters belting out top 40 songs." This fall season saw some unusual shows for CBS, including
Jericho and
Smith (which was already canceled). Last year's attempt to be different was
Love Monkey, which was also canceled. CBS entertainment prez Nina Tassler says the hard part has been getting studios to pitch their edgier stuff to the network, which has always had a bit of a stuffy reputation.

Maybe no one realized this yet. Or, maybe no one really cared.
During the 2005-06 television season, seven alumni of FOX's Beverly Hills, 90210 have appeared or
will appear in a regular series.
Do you doubt me? Do you think it isn't true? Do you think I have way too much
time on my hands? Well, the last may be true, but that's not the point.
Click on, dear reader, for the proof
that you seek.

It's really too bad that
Love Monkey was canceled so quickly (though VH-1 is going to show the reruns and also unaired CBS eps
later this month). It could have really acted as a springboard for Teddy Geiger, the 17 year old music wonder who
co-starred as Kenny, the musician discovered by Tom Cavanagh's character. But it might not matter, because judging from
this debut album, this kid's on his way to a
major career.

Thank you, VH1!
The music network will air all eight episodes of CBS' cancelled
Love Monkey beginning next month. That's
five episodes we haven't seen, since CBS prematurely
pulled it from the schedule
(damn you, CBS!).
The first three episodes of
Love Monkey (the ones we've already seen) will air
back-to-back starting at 7 pm (ET) on April 11. The remaining episodes air weekly on Tuesdays at 9 pm (ET).

Teddy Geiger, also known as 'Wayne' on the
unfortunately-cancelled
Love Monkey, has a new CD that is streaming on
AOL Music. You remember Teddy, right? He was like John
Mayer, except without all the weird facial expressions. During one episode, he and Tom Cavanagh shot his video to the
song, "For You I Will", which is on his new album. I listened to it and it actually made me a little bit sad
because I liked
Love Monkey and I wish it would return. Oh well. Hopefully it'll make a star out of this
kid.

It looks like Love Monkey, which was yanked
off of the CBS Tuesday night schedule after only three episodes, is really and truly dead, according to E!
Online.
According to the Watch With Kristin column the potential talks with UPN and then the CW
did not pan out. In addition, it seems that the lead Love Monkey, Tom Cavanagh, is up for a new pilot, while Larenz
Tate, who played Shooter, will be starring with Joe Pantoliano in a new CBS drama series called
Waterfront.
With Pantoliano's luck in television lately (the cancelled CBS dramas Dr. Vegas,
and The Handler) Mr. Tate may be looking for another series sooner than he thinks.

Jay Mohr isn't going to be hosting the new season of
Last Comic
Standing, but he is coming back to NBC. This time he'll be starring in
Community Service, a comedy about
an arrogant New Yorker who travels to a small Ohio town to win back a girl. Unfortunately he doesn't win her affection,
but he does wind up stuck in the town doing community service; hence the name of the show. Christopher Wiehl of
Love
Monkey plays a local cop and football hero. I'm going to file this under "wait and see." I like Jay Mohr,
but he doesn't always fare well unless he's given the right show.

Yeah, I love TV and I write about it...but boy, sometimes I just hate it.
Case in point: last week sucked for television. You can have your Olympics, but it's also the week that we saw
the last episode of Arrested Development,
the cancellation of Love
Monkey, and the (probable) cancellation of Surface. Ugh.

According to TVGuide.com, CBS has
shelved
Love Monkey after three episodes. It will be replaced by the new edition of
The Amazing Race.
I've got to be honest with you; I'm a bit surprised about this. I'm not really sure what the ratings for
the show have been, but they couldn't have been so bad that CBS decided to pull the plug so soon. Usually creative
shows like this get a little more of a chance to develop and find an audience.
Yes, the show had some
problems: the dialogue was
sometimes mumbled to
the point of incoherence, the narration was irritating, and it seemed like Tom Cavanagh's character could do no wrong,
seemingly solving all his problems by the end of each episode (I mean, last week he proved that not only is he a great
A&R guy, but a fine music video director and editor, too!). But the show had enough going for it that it deserved
another chance. Maybe we'll see it after sweeps are over.

I know my hearing's not the best. Too many years of going
to live rock shows in tiny clubs and too many days of blasting my car stereo have seen to that. But I can usually hear
at least 95% of what's being said on most of the shows on the air today, even quick-talking shows like
Scrubs
and
Gilmore Girls. But for some reason, I only seem to be catching about 70% of what's being said on
Love Monkey. I'm watching tonight's episode as I type this; I have the volume cranked up but I'm still not
catching any more than I was before.
Are they mumbling? Talking faster than any human can possibly do
without a script? Does the sound mix have the music turned up way too high? Or am I going even more deaf than I
thought? Let me know in the comments.
(Oh, on a side note: they really,
really need to get rid of
the narration. It's beyond irritating.)
