Missing Lost? Read a book!

Josh HollowayABC wants Lost fans to spend the show's long hiatus curled up with a good book. The network has created the Lost Book Club, a resource for viewers who want to know more about the drama's numerous literary references. The book club website contains a list of the books seen or referred to on Lost. You can peruse the list according to season or based on a number of categories (background, dialogue, and show theme).

In a brief letter to fans, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse mentioned that the club is informal and that the books should be used to enhance the Lost experience, not provide answers to the show's mysteries.

Lost Easter egg hunt: Left Behind

Henry Ian Cusick"Left Behind" was a little light on the Easter eggs this week. However, there were some thought-provoking clues thrown in between the chick fights and monster appearances.

Lost Library: As mentioned in the recap, Sawyer was back to reading Watership Down again. The book was last seen back in Season One's "Confidence Man." Perhaps he misses that poor, Ben-tortured bunny from Hydra Island?

An entirely fake book also showed up on the beach. Claire was seen reading a book called Rick Romer's Vision of Astrology. The book may not exist, but Rick Romer does. Romer is one of the set decorators for Lost. For my money, this is one of the funnier "book" choices featured on the island. I cannot wait to see someone reading Damon Lindelof's Guide to Australia.

Lost Easter egg hunt: The Man From Tallahassee

Matthew FoxBesides being one of the best Lost episodes in a long time, "The Man From Tallahassee" had a major helping of Easter eggs. The objects in Ben's house were a significant source of clues about the Others. As usual, the eggs provide more questions than answers, but that's what makes Lost so complex, right? Here's what the vast community of bloggers, fans, and critics has noticed so far:

The Numbers: Many viewers noticed the presence of the numbers in Locke's flashback. Ben mentioned that Locke had spent four years in a wheelchair before the plane crash. In what was probably the coolest use of the numbers ever, Locke was paralyzed after an eight-story fall.

Lost Easter egg hunt: Par Avion

Henry Ian CusickIn addition to featuring several huge surprises, "Par Avion" included the usual set of Easter eggs. Some were clear-cut, and some have been disputed on various blogs and message boards. So far, fans have come up with a decent list of clues, questions, and theories.

The Numbers: After Claire's tragic car accident, the number 108 was shown on her odometer (108 is the sum of all six numbers, as well as the magic timer number in the Hatch). During another flashback scene in the hospital, the following could be heard over the loudspeaker: "Dr. Addison, phone call on line 4." These examples could reinforce the idea that the numbers are cursed.
