She's been Glinda, the Good Witch (
Wicked) and Olive Snook, the itty-bitty, lovable waitress (
Pushing Daisies), comic strip cutie Sally Brown (
You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown), a PR pro on
The West Wing, and now she's going to be Skippy Pylon. Skippy the lawyer, and she's heading to the courtroom.
Kristin Chenoweth will star in Legally Mad, a new drama series for creator David E. Kelly for NBC. This is by far the smartest, best news out of NBC in months. (Could Jeff Zucker be reading TV Squad? Have we gotten under his skin?)
You can't see me but I'm doing the dance of joy and happiness about this casting. I have been in the dumps over
Pushing Daisies not being picked up by ABC. The network hasn't even said whether it will air the last episodes, and
Kristin Chenoweth has been the one star out there who's really expressed her disappointment that the show has come to an end. Therefore, I'm extremely glad for her that ABC's loss will be NBC's gain.

MTV has a new show called Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods. The show, hosted by Haylie Duff, will follow ten hopefuls as they vie for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of starring on Broadway and replacing Tony-nominated actress Laura Bell Bundy in Legally Blonde The Musical.
In addition to learning the choreography and songs for the show, the ten young women will compete in challenges created by the team behind the real Broadway musical. They will also be guided by ex-cast members (including Laura Bell Bundy), the director of the show Jerry Mitchell, associate director Mark Bruni, and choreographer Denis Jones.
It should be noted that unlike other reality competitions, America will NOT decide who is the next Elle Woods. The judging panel will included casting director Bernard Telsey, writer Heather Hach, and Jerry Mitchell. Mitchell himself will have the final word on who takes the stage nightly. Do you think this will make for a more authentic look at what it takes to become a Broadway star?
MTV's new show premieres Monday, June 2nd at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Kristen Bell, formerly of
Veronica Mars,
was reportedly asked to join the cast of
Lost next season as a new, recurring character (one of The Others!). But, Bell has apparently turned down the opportunity to live and work in Hawaii in favor of living and working on Broadway in New York City.
According to TV Guide's
Michael Ausiello, Bell will take over the lead role in the Broadway version of
Legally Blonde in February. He's putting two-and-two together to come to this conclusion, but it seems pretty logical. She has wanted to do Broadway in the past, but her
Veronica Mars schedule would never accommodate it.
This seems like an...interesting...career choice. A role on
Lost would boost her visibility with mainstream viewers, while a role on Broadway will only make her visible to those who are into that sort of thing. But, if Broadway's your dream, go for it!
