(S35E02) After that Jenny Slate f-bomb nonsense and Megan Fox's not terribly original hot girl material from the
season premiere, it was exciting to see a really solid episode (and a star-studded one, at that). Ryan Reynolds did a fantastic job as host (snaps for his wavering voice during the porcelain fountains sketch and accent in
SYTYCD), though he didn't have any major stand-out roles. Did I miss the memo that Lady Gaga wasn't just musical guest but co-host as well? Such a role is normally left up to Ryan Reynolds' giant biceps.
It's been a while since we've seen such consistently enjoyable writing in an episode. Usually, there's a distinct lull during the course of the 90 minutes, but I didn't feel it this time. Hopefully, this is a good indication of the rest of the season.

Hey,
I didn't call Kanye West a jackass, the
President did. But he's still a jackass either way. I'm sure he's been called much worse since he
yanked the mic away from Taylor Swift at MTV's Video Music Awards in September.
When I heard that West and Lady Gaga would be touring together, I thought, what a horrible blow for Gaga. Not that she's any stranger to controversy, what with her blood-spattered performances and all. Actually, these two might be perfect to tour together.
But alas, the show will NOT go on, at least not with West. Apparently, he's being dropped from the tour, whether,
as he told Jay Leno, he needed to take some time off, or whether he was
asked to take some time off (I vote for the latter).
Gaga told
Billboard, "Kanye's going to take some time off. But the good news is that I'm going on tour in a few weeks."
Ironically, the ill-fated tour was named "Fame Kills."

(S08E21) The night started with a grand swoop of the set, something I wished that would be used more often. Unfortunately, the episode really dragged on until the last hour. I guess I'm now prepared for the long results show for
American Idol tomorrow.
I get to make my final jab at Samantha Harris for the season:
someone has to fire her stylist. That dress was ugly.
The outcome was a little bit of a shock, but I would appreciate a win from any of the three contestants. We start (and end) the night with Lady GaGa, and she didn't do half bad.

(
S04E21) Nigel told the final six that while they were getting plenty of applause and adulation on the show, they would have to get used to rejection if they continue on this career path. He advised that they use the rejection to propel them forward. But, the final six shouldn't feel too bad because each one of them got over a million votes going into this results show.
And the stakes are even higher going into the finale. Adam Shankman has added a role as a featured dancer in his new movie to the winner's prize package.
So let's see who will be battling it out next Thursday on
So You Think You Can Dance.
