(S01E15) "I made one mistake. It doesn't mean I need a human ankle monitor." - Jenny Back in early February, I told you
what I thought of Gossip Girl so far. Starting this week, I'll review
GG on a weekly basis. What an episode to start reviews with! Since I've never read the books the series is based on, I had no idea who Georgina Sparks was but I had a hunch that she was not daddy's little girl. I didn't expect her to be so twisted and evil.

As we all know,
Veronica Mars was
refused a renewal for the 2007-2008 TV season for The CW. We also have heard of the plans for Rob Thomas possibly trying to retool the show, basically fast-forwarding the series to where Veronica is an FBI agent, no longer residing in familiar Neptune. Would such a show reboot appease rabid fans of the old show? Would it be enough to grab new viewers? And what would this new show look like?
Luckily for all of us, I've got a very reliable anonymous source who has seen a copy of the retooled
Veronica Mars, and I have to say I'm in agreement with this person's assessment of the new show. It's only a matter of time before the episode leaks to YouTube, but for those who can't wait for that moment, here's my source's description of the episode with some commentary.

(S03E15) I'm going to take this moment to make a plea to Rob Thomas and The CW to not throw out the season long (or semi-season long) story arcs on this show. This episode was a prime example of what the buildup from several episodes of story can result in. Would the climax of this episode been as dramatic had we only been built up for one, two or even three episodes?
Sure, most of us called Tim the mastermind of the murder all along, but this episode threw so many wrenches into the works that I was quickly doubting myself. It wasn't until the final moments of the episode that I was once again sure Tim was responsible.

(S03E14) I know a lot of readers get really ticked off when we reveal any sort of spoilers before the jump of the post, so I'll just start off with a big "WOW!" If you saw the episode, you certainly know what I'm talking about. I'm both saddened and thrilled at the end result of things ... but I'll talk more about that later.
I think what makes me more sad is the fact that, after next week, we have to wait until April for a new episode. Boo.

(S03E12) This was probably exactly the kind of episode that The CW executives want to see go away from Veronica Mars. It was definitely the kind of episode that you'd really need a fair amount of prior involvement with the series to understand, and that's not including the few details we got regarding the primary mystery of Dean O'Dell's death. But for me, I say keep them coming.
Finally Veronica learned to start confronting people when she hears rumors about them instead of simply continuing to lose sleep and making up scenarios in her head ... which she of course did anyway.

(S03E10) Well folks, don't get used the this new semi-season-long mystery, as everything said recently by Rob Thomas and crew indicates this will be the last of them.
Here's my problem with the idea of no long mysteries. Sure, there are a lot of what I call "mini-mysteries" for Veronica to solve all season long, and we've seen our share of them on this show. But can we really tolerate and believe that she's going to have a new mystery every week? I guess if it worked for Scooby-Doo it'll work for Veronica, eh? But I guess what I feel will take me away from this show is their over-reliance on relationship drama as the glue that holds everything together. Yuck.
Anyway, I digress.

(S02E22) Aren't great finales so bittersweet? I'd been excited to see this episode all day, though at the same time I was sad that the season would be over, and we'd have to A) wait until next Thursday to find out if this show is indeed making it to the CW network, and B) wait for the new season to start.
Though I thoroughly enjoyed this season, I have to admit that most of the reveal of this episode was a tad disappointing. Why? Because a bunch of us guessed this would happen long ago. Well, not all of it, but the "big bad" of the season.

As the Keller brothers already
kicked off yesterday, we here at
TV Squad feel it's our duty to inform you of reasons why you shouldn't be "celebrating"
TV Turnoff
Week. Tonight marks the third-to-last episode of what's been a fantastic second season of
Veronica Mars, a
series I'm very glad to have decided to pick up, and catch up on, late last season.
Seriously folks, if you
haven't already been watching this show, this may be your last chance this season to see an episode on its own without
having any major plot points revealed. As with last season, the last two episodes will likely wrap all the mysteries up
very nicely, and if you pick the show up then, you'd surely ruin the magic of seeing the season from an earlier episode.

Scrubs -- watch
'Mars!)

UPN has a tantalizing tidbit of
footage from the first episode of season two of
Veronica Mars up on their website. Some of the dialog seems to hint at who Veronica's new boyfriend is, and therefore who's at the door when we (well, you) last left Veronica ("I was hoping it would be you."). I, on the other hand, haven't gotten to that point yet, but I'll have part three of my
season one commentary up shortly. For now, check out the clip.
