Accidentally on Purpose: Pilot (series premiere)

accidentally_on_purpose_elfman
(S01E01) Watching Accidentally on Purpose, thoughts of Seth Rogen danced in my mind. Not Seth, actually, but the film Knocked Up. This is the second year in a row that CBS seems obsessed with that film. Last season, it was Worst Week, with a schlubby Kyle Bornheimer channeling Rogen's goofy lack of grace. It didn't work and Worst Week bit the dust. Now we have Jenna Elfman in the Katherine Heigl role, knocked up by accident after a one-night stand, albeit with a twist. Instead of a schlub, Jenna's fling is a boy-toy named Zach.

And there you have the premise of Accidentally on Purpose. Are you ROFL? Will you LOL? Read on after the jump.

Sneak Peek: Judd Apatow talks to James Lipton on Monday

A lot of people will say (and I might have even said at one point) that Inside the Actors Studio is running out of guests to interview. When a show about film talks to Billy Joel, you know something is wrong. But it's not that they're running out of the appropriate people, they're just choosing to go with certain people.

Judd Apatow probably deserves to be there since he's the big name in movie comedy right now. He's going to talk to James Lipton on Monday. Here's the part where he talks about directing sex scenes, hair-waxing, and getting thrown out of the car by his wife on the way to her gynecologist. This could be the dirtiest Actors Studio yet.

Seth Rogen not a fan of Entourage

RogenHey, two days in a row we've had Seth Rogen posts. This wasn't planned.

If you watched this Sunday's episode of Entourage, you saw the gang debating Rogen's ugliness. And Rogen has made it known he's not a fan of the show. Oh, maybe he was at one point, but when you start calling someone ugly on national television, you're bound to get on that person's bad side.

Rogen says that Entourage creator Doug Ellin is a moron.

Entourage: Amongst Friends

(L-R): Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, and Jerry Ferrara.
(S06E02) "Who would've thought I'd be the only one guaranteed to have sex tonight?!?" - Turtle

I know I've said it before, but one of the things that I've always loved about Entourage is how the writers behind the show seem to have this uncanny knack for re-creating exact conversations that I've had with my friends before. I know I'm not the only one out there who's had a laugh with their buddies trying to figure out how exactly did Seth Rogan get laid in Knocked Up? When Turtle made his final point ("His ugliness is oddly fascinating."), it was like deja-vu for me.

Then they went and killed the moment when Vince got that nudie pic of Sloan's friend. That never happens to me or my friends.

Heigl says she's staying on Grey's

K Heigl Grey's AReports of Katherine Heigl's exit from Grey's Anatomy have been greatly exaggerated, and that comes straight from the actress's mouth. Heigl's staying on Grey's Anatomy for the foreseeable future.

In recent weeks, since choosing not to submit her name for Emmy consideration because she was critical of the material she had this past season, speculation has been that the star wants out of the show. Fueling the fire is the fact that in the past year, thanks to Knocked Up (and a lot less to 27 Dresses), Ms. Heigl's getting many, many offers to jump to the big screen full time.

Life & Style caught up with her last week at L.A.'s Hotel Cafe, where she was watching her husband Josh Kelly, performing. When asked if she would be on Grey's this season, she said, "Of course, absolutely. Those people are like my family." She described the set as a happy, joyful place where there's lots of laughter despite the serious storylines they're playing.

Katharine McPhee set to star in indie flick

Katharine McPheeFirst American Idol's Ryan Seacrest had a scene-stealing cameo in this year's big summer comedy, Knocked Up. And now, last season's runner-up Katharine McPhee will be making her big screen debut in The Last Caller.

Katharine said, "This is the first thing that I read that I really wanted to do." Kat added, "I'm up for a couple of big studio projects, but they weren't starring roles. I wanted to start off doing something a little different. It's something that a lot of people wouldn't expect me doing." The indie film, written by Michael Albanese, is described as a dark romantic comedy.

The Daily Show: June 5, 2007

Jon StewartScooter Libby is saying bye-bye for 30 months. I can understand why they kept this one fairly short. The writers are probably going to have a lot more fun with Libby in the next few episodes.

"Father of the Bribe": Some sweet indictment action on William Jefferson. Ahh, I was wondering when they were going to make another Jimmy Dean joke (Money & Sausage on a Stick -- delish). Also, I never, never want to hear Jon Stewart say "hot in herre" like that again. Never.

Ozzy disses Sanjaya and other Idol gossip

Ozzy OsbourneI used to love watching Ozzy on The Osbournes, even if he did make about as much sense as Paula Abdul. But I guess Ozzy isn't as "out of it" as I thought. According the New York Post, Ozzy was scheduled to perform during the American Idol May 23rd finale, but canceled at the last minute when he found out he'd be singing a duet with Sanjaya Malakar.

Ozzy reportedly called Sanjaya "a hairstyle-challenged idiot" and refused "be on stage with that idiot." Aerosmith's Joe Perry apparently had no problem appearing on stage with the infamous Sanjaya.

Freaks and Geeks creator says goodbye to TV with The TV Set

ApatowJudd Apatow, who will forever be a hero to many TV viewers who loved the too short-lived NBC series Freaks and Geeks, is saying goodbye to television. But not before one final shot with the soon-to-be-released feature film The TV Set.

The movie stars David Duchovny as a series creator who butts heads with various studio executives (including Sigourney Weaver) who just don't get what he's trying to do with his TV show. And, yes, it's a version of what Apatow and The TV Set director Jake Kasdan went through when they worked on Freaks and Geeks.
