Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow. There's actually nothing on this list I want to buy. I'm not into
Hannah Montana, I've never seen an episode of
Bleach, I wasn't a big
Married with Children fan, and I haven't bought any previous seasons of
Perry Mason, so I might actually save some money this week.
I like Chelsea Handler though. Not sure if it's worth buying
Girls Behaving Badly just for her.

- Bleach - Season 2
- Camp Rock - Extended Rock Star Edition
- Dexter - Season 2
- Galaxy Rangers - Vol. 2
- George of the Jungle - Season 1

Stop reading now if you don't want to be spoiled regarding the beginning of season eight of
Smallville. We already know that the new season takes a different direction, as
Lana Lang goes part-time,
Lex Luthor is gone and
Doomsday is in. At least
Allison Mack is staying.
Spoilers after the jump ...

Brian Heiler over at the
Topless Robot website took it upon himself to list the
ten worst superhero television shows ever made. I don't know if I agree with every choice, but he's certainly in the right ballpark.
Going through the list, we start with
Birds of Prey. The first mistake they made (and there was a myriad of them) was altering Batman's daughter to have superpowers. I guess the WB was trying to copy the success of
Smallville into other superhero shows and failing.
I remember seeing one episode of
Once A Hero. I'm only sorry they didn't air the episode in which Adam West parodied himself. I missed
Exo Man altogether (but only in the sense that I didn't watch it).

We learned yesterday that ABC's
Desperate Housewives will be
back for season five next fall, in its same time-slot of Sunday at 9 p.m. I'm sure creator Marc Cherry has stocked up on Tums in the past few years, as the series waffled between must-see and mediocrity. Right now, it's somewhere in the middle, although I've made a point to watch every week, so that says something right there.
ET Online is breaking news tonight that
Dana Delany will be returning to the series in the fall. Although no storyline has been as compelling as the murder intrigue that super-charged season one, the mystery surrounding Delany's Katherine Mayfair this season has been mildly interesting.
We know it has something to do with her daughter, Dylan (Lyndsy Fonseca) and ex-husband, Wayne (Gary Cole), who struck up a relationship with Dylan in recent weeks. I must admit, I'm curious enough to make sure the DVR records when the season finale rolls around.

The
Smallville panel was a hot Comic-Con ticket for one reason and one reason only - Supergirl. We got our first glimpse of Supergirl in action with some preview scenes from
Smallville's upcoming season. She was blonde, hot and had the gift of flight.

Being a comic book fan sets you up for a lot of disappointment. For one thing, there seems to be a pretty direct ratio between the number of
Atlantis Attacks crossover books you own and the age at which you lose your virginity (ahem19ahem). For another, our only portrayal in the media seems to be Comic Book Guy on
The Simpsons and he is as insulting as he is completely and utterly dead-on.
The worst disappointment, though, is whenever some studio exec decides to "adapt" one of our mylar-enshrined treasures into some big or small screen entertainment. It seems that for every good decision made, there are ten disasters of the "nipples on the bat-suit" variety.
In recent years, movies have faired better than TV when it comes to adaptations, but there are a few gems to be had. The Five best comic book-to TV adaptations after the jump...

Some of you long time readers of TV Squad -- in particular those who are
Alias fans -- know that I've had a
love-hate relationship with the show. I've been an avid viewer since its first season, and although I will say it's had its ups and downs, there's no denying that the show has retained one simple yet important characteristic: it's fun.
Unfortunately for some, the show comes to an end next week, having completed a solid five season run. Though I feel some may not find it so unfortunate, as the show gets to wrap up the way it should, giving it the proper send off it throughly deserves.
Speaking of fortunate, I was just that for having the opportunity to talk to Carl Lumbly last week. Carl's been playing Marcus Dixon on
Alias since day one, starting out as Sydney Bristow's partner in what they both thought was the CIA. He's also supplied the voice of Martian Manhunter from the
Justice League cartoon series. We talked about his work on
Alias,
Justice League, his new 'do and a little bit of golf.
