What a mess the whole
Jon & Kate Plus 8 Minus 1 debacle is. Apparently, after learning that TLC was
moving forward with a revamped show named Kate Plus 8, Jon demanded through his lawyers that the show cease production immediately or face criminal charges.
A letter from his attorney noted, "In the event that anyone enters the marital property, Jon Gosselin will notify the local authorities to effectuate police action against any trespassers." Keep in mind that Jon seemed fine with the kids being on the show last week, when he was still a big part of the show and was, in fact, filming an episode with the kids.

Considering how prevalent reality television is these days, it's got to be a pretty daunting task to try and put together a comprehensive list of the best and worst of all time. But
Entertainment Weekly thinks they've done just that. They've compiled the
top 20 reality shows of all time, but also the
ten worst reality shows of all time. All in all, they did a pretty damned good job.
I completely agree with the top six, but they lose me with
Jackass at number seven. I have never understood the appeal of filming morons doing stupid things on purpose just to be stupid. But there were some shows missing from the list completely, like
Little People Big World, So You Think You Can Dance and
Beauty and the Geek. Surely those shows are better than
The Hills and
The Real Housewives of Sesame Street, or whatever franchise they're spinning now.

Actually, even saying
Octomom Nadya Suleman is getting a reality show is generous. She's got a production deal with a production company out of the Netherlands to produce a show spotlighting key events in her children's lives. And no television network signed on to air it as of yet. The company is modeling it after a TV series in Denmark that documented four children all the way through to adulthood. Which means we may have some time yet before we're subjected to it.
Don't get me wrong, kids are cute and everybody loves multiples, but the big problem here is
Angelina Jolie Suleman herself. You thought watching Jon & Kate's strained marriage was difficult ... wait ... oh shit! Drama more than
doubled the ratings for Jon & Kate Plus 8's season premiere. Do you realize what we've done? She's coming and there's no force on this earth that's going to stop her. She's had a few deals already that have fallen through, but this one looks like it won't. It's no coincidence that her nickname sounds like a monster!

Even if you've never seen a single episode of the TLC mega-hit
Jon & Kate Plus 8, chances are you've been hearing a lot about it lately. Specifically, the rumors of
infidelities,
open marriage contracts, and staying together not for the kids, but
for the cameras. One should always take tabloid stories with a grain (or a pound) of salt, but when the issues make their way onto the actual show? Perhaps there is something to them.
TLC just released a
two-minute clip of the May 25 season premiere of Jon & Kate Plus 8 (video also after the jump), and, well, it's awkward, to say the least. One of the hallmarks of the show is that Jon and Kate always squeeze onto a love seat together to do their interviews. In the season premiere, however, each one is sitting alone on the couch. Gone is the playful banter; in its place is a woman who looks as though she's spending every ounce of her energy trying not to scream, and a man who just looks beaten down by life. It's not exactly the family-friendly entertainment viewers are used to.
