Monster Garage rises from the ashes

Jesse James on Discovery Channel's Monster GarageThe show that transformed the Discovery Channel from a stuffy science documentary network that even A/V club nerds found drab and dull into the media franchise it is today is returning to the network that birthed it.

Monster Garage
will return to the cable network for a new series run set in Detroit called MG: Motor City. It is set to debut in the fall.

The new series will gather a gaggle of gearheads to task them with turning a timid Ford Model T into a fire-breathing, fuel-guzzling, Firestone tire-eating race dragster. What's the grand prize? What else? A multimillion dollar government bailout!

The Celebrity Apprentice made its latest cut too soon

Trumps!I'll admit that The Celebrity Apprentice is a guilty pleasure of mine. Why? Two words: Nutty celebrities! Just like any other reality show, seeing people get along and be friends just doesn't cut it. There needs to be an agitator, someone who's going to make everyone roll their eyes and bitch and moan that they have to work or live with such a loose cannon/nutjob/free spirit. The fact that those people are celebrities is a plus in my book.

It amazes me that these reality shows consistently cut their most interesting players because everyone is annoyed by them. And this year's Celeb Apprentice just committed that cardinal sin.

Jesse James hires homeless workers

jesse jamesJesse James, the host of Monster Garage, may be a bad ass but he also is a kind-hearted fellow. When a homeless shelter opened up across the street from his Long Beach, California motorcycle shop, West Coast Shoppers, he decided to make a connection. In a short article in People magazine, James says he decided to help people get off the street by giving them employment. The first person he hired is now making $8.50/hour and has an apartment with his wife. James says, "Not everyone has been as lucky as I have, and it's time for me to use the success I have been blessed with to help others in Long Beach." Ahhh.. what a nice guy!

In other Jesse James/gossip news, he and wife Sandra Bullock are not expecting a baby.
