I could get used to this daily dose of good news from
How I Met Your Mother. First,
Bays and Thomas get a new deal, then
Mother gets an early renewal for next season, and now
Jennifer Lopez is going to guest on How I Met Your Mother.
That's right, JLo will be hanging with the crew, and in a move that I heartily support, she will not play herself. Jennifer has been cast as Anita Appleby, a self-help author who knows all about male-female relationships.
When Robin meets Anita and tell her all about Barney Stinson, master of the universe and womanizer extraordinaire, Anita decides that she will break him of his nasty ways with women.

I had the
American Music Awards on last night in the background, and for the most part it looked like a pretty standard awards show: People wore pretty dresses, played pianos suspended by wires, wore more makeup than their wives (I'm looking at you,
Keith Urban), and simulated oral sex. Wait-- what?
Yeah, so for once,
Lady Gaga's performance, which involved smashing a plate-glass window and setting a piano on fire wasn't the most interesting performance of the night. Instead, everyone is talking about two people:
Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert. Lopez's unfortunate fall during her performance of "Louboutins" probably mortified her, but it wasn't the most awkward thing to happen during the ceremony. That distinction goes to
American Idol runner-up
Adam Lambert's decidedly non-family-friendly performance.
You can check out both videos after the jump.

File this one under the header, "Thanks but no thanks." According to reps for J-Lo,
Jennifer Lopez will not replace Paula Abdul on American Idol. Apparently, there's a hot rumor out there that Jennifer had some interest in taking over in light of the lack of progress in Paula's negotiations with the producers for her return.
This sounds like a bunch of malarchy.
Jennifer Lopez has no need to appear on
American Idol as a judge. She's got a thriving career -- something Abdul did not have when she got the
Idol gig in 2002. For J-Lo to plunk herself on
American Idol would likely impede her career, although it would give her lots of visibility.

It wasn't a fierce season for
Project Runway. No
Cristian Soriano to spice things up. No Wendy Pepper either, speaking of spicy. That said, as the show wrapped up and three designers presented their collections at Fashion Week, the competitive juices were flowing and I was definitely into it. Maybe not as much as previous years, but the
Project Runway formula still worked. And most significantly, the final three were all women. As Tim Gunn pointed out, it was the year of the woman on
Project Runway.
All in all, the finale wasn't exactly up to the level of previous seasons. The personalities weren't as dramatic or defined. There was no Jeffrey to hate. No pregnant Laura to root for. And no Jay or Santino to giggle over. It's interesting that even Tim Gunn, before this season aired, had said that this group wasn't as distinctive as some other seasons. As usual, Tim was right.

This seems like an odd one.
ABC is bringing the 2002
Jennifer Lopez movie
Maid in Manhattan to the small screen.
I'm a sucker for romantic comedies, and I actually liked the movie (probably one of the few who did). But even I think it's a weird project to be
adapting into a TV series.
The movie features Lopez as Marisa Ventura, a struggling single mom from the Bronx who works as a maid at a posh Manhattan hotel.
Ralph Fiennes plays a rising politician who mistakes her for a wealthy socialite. They fall in love, yada, yada, yada. Those two stars had very little chemistry (and yet I still liked the movie).

Jennifer Lopez is lame. It turns out, her new TLC "reality" series will not be about her life as a new mom or a superstar. She just wants the cameras on when she's working on launching her new fragrance. How is that interesting? Do we get to watch her sniff things? Is it going to be in Smell-O-Vision. It just sounds like one big commercial for her damn perfume.
According to SFGate.com, Lopez has gone back on her original promise of complete access to her life. Her manager says, "Jennifer will appear in a creative, entrepreneurial capacity and will absolutely not feature her children and family life."
While I think it's admirable for her to keep her private life private and not raise her twins under the watchful eye of television cameras, it's a little disgusting that she misled her fans. And maybe even TLC, which
boasted about their "reality" show with Lopez.

Jennifer Lopez continues her quest to rule the world with a new reality series on TLC.
The actress, singer, clothing and fragrance entrepreneur, and new mom of twins is partnering with actor-producers Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on
a new unscripted series about Lopez's life with husband Mark Anthony, according to
The Hollywood Reporter. Lopez will also executive produce the show.
"I think it'll be something very exciting," she said earlier today at the Discovery Network's upfront presentation in Manhattan.

(S06E29) They certainly did cram in a lot of stuff in tonight's episode, didn't they? Wow, my head is still spinning. As much as I complain about the hour-long results show giving us way too much unnecessary filler, I felt they did their best tonight to at least keep the show entertaining. And I appreciate that, even though it may have been a bit too much.
Besides, don't they know all we really want is the RESULTS. Enough with the tease. Let us have it! How many of you skipped the festivities, TiVo'd the thing, and then fast forwarded to the very end?
Me, I watched the whole thing. Of course, I had to. It's my job. But whether you watched it all, or zipped to the end, the results were the same. Someone went home tonight -- and it wasn't Sanjaya.

(S06E28) So who exactly thought a Latin-themed night was a good idea for
American Idol? I fully expected tonight's performances to be painful. However, I really didn't expect Sanjaya to sing in Spanish and give one of the better performances of the night. Unbelievable. Just when you think
Idol has no more surprises left, you witness something truly shocking.
Jennifer Lopez, looking rather svelte, took time out from her busy schedule to mentor the finalists and help them find the passion in the Latin-themed music. Unfortunately, not many of them truly found their inner Latin beat. J.Lo excitedly gushed that she watches
American Idol at home, and she does have her favorites. Yeah, so
we've heard.

Univision is getting into the miniseries game for the first time with La Flor Palida, about a celebrity named Sofia Marquez who gets caught up in a scandal and winds up running back to an old friend who has romantic feelings for her. The miniseries is being co-executive produced by Jennifer Lopez and will feature music from her upcoming Spanish-language CD Como Ama una Mujer.
Lopez will not act in the miniseries, which will probably premiere in late May, but will appear at the end of each installment singing a song from her album. Sony is also expected to release a CD/DVD package containing both the miniseries and Lopez's album.
American Idol fans can also tune in to tomorrow night's broadcast to hear Lopez sing a track from the new album.

Dallas, the film remake of the popular 80s prime time soap that no one is really all that excited about, has lost a cast member. Jennifer Lopez was set to play Sue Ellen Ewing, but she has dropped out of the project with no explanation. Although, I must say that one really doesn't need an excuse to drop out of yet another tired movie adaptation of a television series. I think that fact alone is reason enough. That still leaves John Travolta, Shirley MacLaine, and Luke Wilson attached to the project, but who knows who else might jump ship? Or should I say "jump ranch?" No replacement has been found for Lopez yet.

MTV has signed on to a reality show about dancers, and it's executive produced by Jennifer Lopez. Called
Moves, the show is described as "
The Real World meets
Solid Gold". It chronicles the trials and tribulations of aspiring dancers, as they audition in the tough world of professional dance. Lopez reportedly had a hand in selecting the contestants and will even make a cameo or two in the show. You may recall that J.Lo started out as a dancer on the sketch-comeedy show,
In Living Color, before her big break in the movie,
Selena.
MTV has ordered eight episodes of
Moves. They hit the air this winter.
