Apparently, Jennifer Aniston has been hanging out with Chelsea Handler a lot. She's so impressed with
Chelsea Lately and the format of her show, that she's found a reason to come back to the small screen. Aniston mentioned it to Oprah Winfrey, who took the idea and ran with it.
See, Oprah is launching The Oprah Winfrey Network in 2010. Now, suddenly, she could have a very high-profile project to help promote the new channel: a
weekly talk show fronted by both Winfrey and Aniston. I've always found Aniston to be very friendly, funny and personable, so this could work out very well.
It's an interesting pairing, Oprah and Jen. I'm curious to see if the new venture will be formatted like a traditional late-night talk show, or more like the daytime staple Winfrey has mastered. I have a feeling Oprah will want to differentiate the two a bit more. Perhaps with Aniston's influence, there'll be a much more playful and comedic atmosphere. What do you think? Nothing's been signed yet, but would you watch Oprah and Jen helm a talk show?

You know, ever since
Friends went off the air, rumors have cropped up again and again that there would be a big screen version of the show, presumably picking up the storylines from the grand finale. Of course, if you remember the great stories on
Joey, maybe post-
Friends storytelling isn't such a grand idea after all.
However, at least one person is sure that a feature film is coming. James Michael Tyler, who poured the coffee at Central Perk as Gunther (he also ogled Rachel), was asked about the movie version and
Tyler said that Friends: The Movie is definitely on.

So no one told him life was going to be this way, but it was, at least for a few days. A gentleman in Brixton, South London named Steve Misiura
watched every single episode of Friends in a non-stop marathon. That's 84 hours of Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey, and Phoebe loving, fighting, and drinking coffee. He actually broke the world record for watching TV, which was at 72 hours straight. I think this is a record someone here at TV Squad should try to break.
Of course, this being the age of the web,
he kept a blog about it and uploaded pictures from the event. The picture above is Steve about 80 hours into his marathon. He began to hallucinate and get various ailments.
I think it would have been OK, record-wise, if he had interrupted his marathon at some point. He could have just used the excuse "I was on a break!"

First off, welcome to all of you who were searching for "Jennifer Aniston" and "naked."
The former
Friends star/former wife of Brad Pitt/
30 Rock guest star is on the cover of the January issue of
GQ, which I always forget stands for
Gentleman's Quarterly because it's a monthly magazine. It's probably like how we're supposed to forget that KFC stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken. It's just
GQ now.
Anyway, she's pretty much naked on the cover of the issue, except for that tie of course (she's also nude
inside the issue). The cover has a certain 'deja vu' quality though (at least for me), and after a little digging I found out why.

There are many Thanksgiving traditions we all enjoy: the turkey, the stuffing, watching football, fighting over the drumstick to see whose wish comes true, and putting up with family members you avoid 363 days of the year (you see them at Christmas too).
There's another tradition, this one TV-oriented:
Friends!

Holy crap, how did we miss the news that the cast of
Night Court was going to be on tonight's episode of
30 Rock? Maybe all of the talk about Jennifer Aniston being a guest on the show (and Oprah and Steve Martin in the coming weeks) overshadowed that news, or maybe they didn't think it was big enough news to announce. But God I think it's even bigger news! Hey, Aniston is fine, but let me repeat:
this episode features a reunion of the cast of Night Court! One NBC sitcom classic meets another.
And the reason they're on the show is even better...

Interesting piece in
The New York Times that asks the question:
where the hell is 30 Rock?
The third season of the show won't bow until October 30, but you would think that the show would want to launch a week or two earlier because of all of the attention that Tina Fey is getting for her Sarah Palin impersonation on
Saturday Night Live, her
Emmy win, and her new mega-million dollar
book deal. So how come the show hasn't premiered yet? They must have an episode or two done for the new season.

Another week, another guest star announced for NBC's
30 Rock. But this is one I'm actually looking forward to.
Actually, I'm looking forward to all of the guest stars that have been announced for
30 Rock this season (OK, maybe not so much the
Gossip Girl cast), including
Jennifer Aniston and
Oprah Winfrey. But this one seems particularly impressive and funny.
Steve Martin will appear on the Thursday night comedy.

The most famous Rachel on TV today isn't the same one that made Jennifer Aniston a star. And it's Rachael with the extra "E" that's the syndicated star of a talk show that won the Emmy in 2008. But the newest Rachel on the air is MSNBC's plucky new host of her own show, Rachel Maddow. Like Aniston, Rachel Maddow's hairdoo is fashionable, and like Ray, Maddow's very personable. However,
The Rachel Maddow Show is worlds apart from
Friends or
30 Minute Meals/The Rachael Ray Show. Maddow is all about politics, current events and things that, by and large, are important.
In some ways,
The Rachel Maddow Show is a spinoff of
Countdown with
Keith Olbermann. Maddow has been a regular sub for Olbermann, proving her prowess to MSNBC, and her show has a cushy spot between the first run of
Countdown at 8 p.m. ET and the replay at 10 p.m. For the premiere episode, in fact, Keith appeared as Rachel's first guest -- a crossover from the end of
Countdown where Rachel was interviewed in the last segment before the close. This was a smart move, sort of like a bridge from his show to hers, a bridge to somewhere if you will.
The new studio for Maddow has the quality MSNBC look, glass top desk, plasma screens, obnoxious -- but expected -- graphics on the bottom and bugs and flags reinforcing information as it's spoken.

If I didn't love this news so much, I'd be worried that
30 Rock was turning into
The Love Boat or
Will and Grace. After all, it seems as though there's news of a new guest star every few days. First
Will Arnett signed on to reprise his role as the delightfully evil Devon Banks, then ex-
Friend,
Jennifer Aniston, decided to return to television in order to stalk Jack Donaghy. After that came news that
Oprah was scheduled to play herself on an upcoming episode.
That's a lot of guest stars to pack into one season, but now we have news of two more. Everybody's favorite
Gossip Girls, Blair and Serena, AKA
Leighton Meester and Blake Lively, are coming to 30 Rock. What on earth could bring these Upper East Siders to Midtown? Are they trying to overthrow Liz Lemon as queen bee of
TGS with Tracy Jordan? Are they starring in a movie with Tracy Jordan? There's more info on their storyline after the jump.

We all speculated as to what role
Jennifer Aniston will play when she guest stars on NBC's 30 Rock later this year, and
now we know what part she'll play. It's actually one of the choices we came up with.
Aniston will play an old friend of Liz Lemon who starts to stalk Jack Donaghy. The character is described as an ex-roommate of Liz's from Chicago who is a "free-spirited,
Fatal Attraction-like stalker." Well, let's hope that she isn't completely like that. We don't need any gunshots to the chest or bunny-boiling on
30 Rock. The character's name is Claire Harper.
So we've had Aniston and David Schwimmer on the show. I think all of the
Friends people should appear on
30 Rock at some point.

Hey, if David Schwimmer can do it, why not Jennifer Aniston?
The rumors floating around have turned out to be true: the ex-
Friends star is going to make a
guest appearance on NBC's 30 Rock this season. In fact, she's filming the episode as I type this. Well, maybe not that sentence, but even as I type ...
this.
Now comes the endless speculation on what part she'll play. Could she be a new girlfriend for Jack Donaghy? Or maybe a new cast member brought on
TGS with Tracy Jordan that becomes a rival to Jenna? How about an old friend of Tina Fey's that moves to New York and causes trouble for her in some way? I think the biggest twist would be if Aniston actually became a regular on the show, but I don't see that happening.
Of course, why not just have her be Rachel Green (sorry, it must be Rachel Geller by now)? She could be brought on
TGS as a fashion/make-up person.

Christina Applegate, star of ABC's Samantha Who?, is battling breast cancer. According to a statement released by her rep, the cancer was detected early and is not life-threatening. "Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery," Ame Van Iden said.
The news comes just weeks after Applegate earned an Emmy nomination for her work as an amnesiac trying to undo her past misdeeds on
Samantha Who?. In addition to continuing to work on her series, Applegate is also scheduled to appear on the
Stand Up To Cancer telethon on September 5th. The telethon, which will be simultaneously aired on CBS, NBC and ABC, will also feature
Meryl Streep,
Sally Field and Jennifer Aniston, among others.
Since the cancer was detected early through a doctor-ordered MRI and Applegate is continuing her work schedule, hopefully the cancer will be easily beat. Here's to a full and speedy recovery.

Ya know, around the time Friends was ending, I would have bet on big things for Jennifer Aniston. She's certainly had her successes since then, with things like The Break-Up. But it really seems that she's had far more press for her relationships, and her penchant for sunbathing topless, than she has for her acting. That may go a long way to explain the latest Aniston rumor.
It's being reported that she has an idea for her production company, a movie where she plays the over-bearing mother to a rising star daughter. And she would like that daughter to be played by Miley Cyrus. It actually sounds like a good idea. From TV episodes, to concert tickets, now seems to be a pretty good time to be in the Miley Cyrus business. It should all be taken with a large grain of salt though, as the quote leading to the rumor, "I approached Miley about it, and she thinks it's a very cool idea." Is the Star, quoting a pal, quoting Aniston. Make of it what you will, but if there is any truth to it, it's an idea with some legs.

Thanks to the success of the
Sex and the City movie -- and talk of more to come -- the rumor mill has been bubbling with other TV shows making the leap to the big screen. In the case of
Arrested Development, it
sure sounds like the truth.
However,
the Friends feature is a rumor that has no legs. Warners owns the property and on July 4th, even though all U.S. offices were closed for the holiday, denied the rumors via the London office.
Jayne Trotman,
Warner's director of publicity, said of the Friends movie, "(There's) no truth in the story." Just to be sure, Matthew Perry's press rep also denied the rumor. She told the BBC that nothing is happening and the rumor is just that, a shred of news with no value attached to it.
