HeartAttack-related stories

The title of this post seems far-fetched: How could a big TV star like Kelsey Grammer think that Kevin Reilly, the programming head of FOX, had something to do with the
heart attack he suffered a year ago?
If you heard Grammer speak about it during the panel for his new ABC comedy
Hank, it's not hard to connect the dots. "I had an event they thought was stress related. You can make of that what you will. It was a rough year," said Grammer, whose FOX sitcom
Back to You was cancelled after its first season.
His beef was that he pitched the show to Reilly when the exec was still at NBC, and he passed. Then Reilly got the position at FOX after they bought
Back to You. So, basically, the show was airing on a network whose entertainment head already passed on it somewhere else. That, according to Grammer, caused conflict between the network and the writers of the show.

So, if you saw the preview for
last night's special two-hour Brothers & Sisters, you were anticipating that someone was going to die. Then, if you surfed the net, there were all kinds of rumors and spoilers that something life-altering was going to happen. Would it be Tommy? What about Kitty and Robert's newborn, coming via surrogate mom? Would Nora keel over from all that running in the hospital hallways? Maybe it was going to be something from left field, like Uncle Saul gagging on a wine cork and kicking the bucket?
Imagine my shock and surprise when all the build up turned out to be something unexpected. If you haven't watched it yet, I'll save it for after the jump.

(S05E13) Let me ask you a philosophical question: is it possible for a sitcom to be funny and still not be a very good episode? Technically, all a sitcom is trying to do is make you laugh; if it accomplishes that, it's hard to argue that it's a bad episode. Yet, despite above average guffawing throughout tonight's
Office, nothing about it worked that well.
The cold open perfectly encapsulates what I'm talking about. Dwight's actions officially crossed the line from odd-but-likable-doofus to dead-eyed sociopath. I get that Dwight's a little out there, but when it becomes plausible that a sitcom character might have a basement pit filled up with hitchhikers he's planning to use to make a girl-suit, you have to take pause and consider how he's being handled. That fire was stupid, unbelievable, and ridiculous.
But it was damn funny. You see my dilemma ...

(S04E11) "It's what you do. When you're a hammer, everything in the world looks like a nail." -- Pope to Brenda
Did you notice, as I did, that Brenda was more distressed and unfocused while making decisions for the wedding than she was working on the case? By the end of the episode, Brenda finally settled on the when, the where and the how, so all things considered, it was a good day for Brenda...except for that little thing that happened to Daddy.
Meanwhile, returning after a few months off, the cliffhanger was resolved early on and priority homicide was back at work. However, when is an apparent suicide not a suicide? More on that and the cliffhanger after the jump. Also, Clay Johnson.

Just one day after Natascha McElhone celebrated her tenth anniversary with her husband Martin Kelly,
he was found dead, slumped on the doorstep of their home in London. Kelly, who was only 42 years old, was one of Britian's premiere plastic surgeons. He was found by his friend, also a doctor. As of yet, no cause of death has been verified. But while Scotland Yard is treating the death as unexplained and will administer a post-mortem exam, Kelly is believed to have died of a heart attack.
McElhone is currently going back to the U.K. as she was filming in the States this week. Kelly had joined her Stateside for their anniversary celebration. The actress is expecting the couple's third child. A publicist for the actress said they had no comment at this time. However, McElhone's stepfather, Roy Greenslade, told the press,"It's still a mystery about the death,"It's so unexpected. Such a fit, handsome, fighting young man... We are in a bit of a terrible state to be honest."
