(S05E22) Those of you tired of Tom's mid-life crisis, raise your hand! I'm sure we are a lot of people with one hand raised right now. I know that a lot of men go through it and that it can last really long in real life, but on TV, can we not have Tom go through his mid-life crisis for an entire year?!
A few of you mentioned in comments last week how Tom was getting annoying and that he needed new storylines or else. Will Tom find his way before the season ends?

(S05E21) "This is going to come out of nowhere but ..." - Jackson to SusanAs you know, actor Gale Harold, who plays Jackson, had a terrible accident last fall and had to be written out of the show so that the actor could recover from his injuries. The writers decided to have Jackson get a job outside of town. Except for learning that Jackson asked Susan to move away with him, we haven't heard much from the character and his relationship with Susan since then. My brain doesn't recall Susan clearly stating that things were over between Jackson and her, and we haven't seen her date since Jackson skipped town. Therefore, I've sort of been thinking they were doing the long-distance thing or still wondering where things stood between them.
When the actor got back in shape and was able to return to the set, the writers wrote him back in, and this week's episode marked his unexpected return. Jackson arrived with a question, helped give us answers as to where his relationship with Susan stood, and gave Dave a good reason to be scared.

(S05E12) Can I say how glad I am that this show has finally deigned to confirm Dave's motives? As soon as it was revealed at the beginning of the season that he was just hiding out on Wisteria Lane so he could exact revenge on the person who ruined his life, I knew that it was his wife and daughter that died in the car accident. I don't think my skills of deduction are any better than anyone else's, so the fact that it took 12 episodes to officially say, "yes, this is Dave's plan," is just kind of annoying.
Now that we're done with the charade, I'm excited. I feel like we can really get to the business of what the revenge will entail, which is what I'm here for.

(S05E10) "I'll be with you soon." - DaveI must admit that I didn't expected the episode to end the way it ended. Oh, I'm not talking about the actual reveal, which I'll talk about after the jump. I'm talking about the fact the last new
Desperate Housewives episode before the holidays actually didn't end with a huge cliffhanger (there are a few loose ends and questions but nothing that will prevent me from sleeping until January) and, instead, offered us some answers. Yes, actual answers. Let's talk about them, shall we?

(S05E02) "I think I just heard the milk go bad." - Andrew to Bree and OrsonThat line Andrew said to escape an uncomfortable situation was funny but not that important in the overall episode. However, many
Desperate Housewives characters could have said it this week as all of them found themselves in situations they would have preferred not to be in.
Susan had to face the fact that the men in her life met one another. Gaby tried to maintain her social status but ended up being the laugh of the party (well, Carlos was). An overworked and stressed Bree had to cook for a neglected and fed up Orson. McCluskey had to apologize the Edie in order to get her cat back. While Lynette signed a breaking up email with the words "Love, Mom." Ouch!

One thing you have to say about the powers that be at
Desperate Housewives, they're really great with casting. Great looking guys, beautiful women, quirky character actors; we've seen them all on Wisteria Lane and usually they leave a lasting impression.
The latest name to check in to Desperate Housewives is Neal McDonough. He'll be appearing in the new season and
Hollywood Reporter is wondering how he'd do with Nicolette Sheridan's character, Edie Britt. Is that wondering or playing matchmaker? How do we know that Marc Cherry isn't setting him up as a mystery man from Bree's past? Cherry is nothing if not inventive, so good luck trying to anticipate his plotlines!

(S04E16/S04E17) "I'm Wayne Davis. We're about to have some fun." - WayneAnswers. As ABC promised us, we've got them. The two-hour season finale of
Desperate Housewives wrapped up the season-long Katherine/Dylan/Wayne storyline, sent Kayla packing, and paved the way for a revamped Wisteria Lane.
For ease of writing and reading, I'll be commenting the events of "The Gun Song" and "Free" in one slightly longer than usual post. I sadly can't comment everything that happened in this special two-hour event, so feel free to dish and comment about what I didn't pick on.

Gale Harold, who recently guest starred on two episodes of
Grey's Anatomy and led the cast of the short-lived
Vanished, has landed a recurring role on ABC's
Desperate Housewives,
reports TV Guide. The 39-year-old actor from Atlanta, Georgia, is set to first appear on the show in the second part of May 18 two-hour season finale. TV Guide says that Harold "
will play a quick-witted, charming and buttoned-down suburbanite." Slight spoilers ahead!Continue reading Gale Harold to join Desperate Housewives

Here's an interesting bit of news from Kristin over at E Online: producers of Bones will solve the mystery from the short-lived show Vanished on the show this fall.
Now, that's undoubtedly fantastic news for fans of Vanished (both of you), and it's intriguing that the network and the people behind Bones would actually want to take the time and effort to solve a mystery from a show most people have forgotten. But it's very cool, something you don't see on TV that often. I'm sure the episode will be more Bones-centric than Vanished-centric, but it's a great idea.
Murder, She Wrote did this once. They solved a mystery from an old film noir movie from the 40s (Strange Bargain), and even got several members of the cast back together for it.

How do you describe Fox's new criminal drama Vanished? Well, combine the premise of Without a Trace with the technology shown on CSI, expand one episode to cover an entire season, and have all of the suspects become main characters on the show. Oh, and thrown in so many twist and turns that your head begins to spin.
You can also describe Vanished this way . . . a pretty decent show.
