Rosie O'Donnell weighed in on the
Frenchie/Antonella controversy this week on
The View. Like other critics, Rosie accused
Idol of being
"racist" and "weightist" in their decision to disqualify Frenchie for racy photos, while basically ignoring Antonella's sexy pics.
In a written statement,
Idol Excutive Producer Nigel Lythgoe called Rosie's claims of racism and weightism "absurd and ridiculous."
Lythgoe also said, "Ms. O'Donnell has, once again, spoken without thought or knowledge. Viewers need only look at the show tonight to realize that
American Idol constantly confirms to America that talent has nothing to do with weight or color."

Do racy internet photos of Antonella Barba (some real, some fake) tarnish the squeaky-clean family-friendly image of both the
Idol contestant and the
Idol franchise?
Idol's producers obviously don't think so. They've decided to stand by Antonella. But four years ago, they weren't so supportive. They dismissed finalist Frenchie Davis when she told them about racy internet photos she had taken.
To many, the dismissal of Frenchie, but not Antonella, represents a double standard. And this Tuesday, March 6, civil rights activist Najee Ali
is holding an anti-Idol rally to bring attention to this "racial bias" as he calls it. Ali said, "they can't have a rule for white contestants and have a different rule for black contestants."

Jersey's own Antonella Barba may not win
American Idol this year, but she's already become a household name, earning fame (or is it infamy?) thanks to a seemingly endless supply of naughty, naked, and nasty photographs (that become nastier by the day) appearing all over the internet.
According to
Entertainment Weekly,
Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe hasn't seen any of the photographs, and only became aware of the "sexualy explicit shots" from
EW. Lythgoe responded, ''It's sad, isn't it, that your best friends are the ones that come forward with information that will go to
Smoking Gun or put your photographs on the web?''

People online has a nifty little photo-story
updating us on some of our favorite American Idol contestants who didn't win the title. Here are a few:
- Diana DeGarmo: after spending the holidays entertaining the troops abroad, she's
joining the cast of Hairspray on Broadway on February 7.
- Frenchie Davis: proving that racy photos
on the internet aren't the end of all things, she's a cast member of Rent on Broadway, where she's been since
she was prematurely booted off the show in 2003.
- William Hung: thinking he's entitled to more than
15 minutes of fame, he's still performing crap from his three, yes three, albums.
- Tamyra Gray: the one who
should've gone against Kelly Clarkson in the finale, Tamyra is working on her second album and persuing more acting
roles.
- Josh Gracin: lookin' a little thick around the middle, Josh just kicked
off a tour where he is opening for Trace Adkins. He and his wife, Ann Marie, now have two children.
- Corey
Clark: ah, who the hell cares?
