It's always a good thing when an Oscar winner deigns to do TV, and based on her past efforts, I have high hopes for
The Tower knowing that Marcia Gay Harden has joined the cast. The Tower, is a
new CBS pilot about a group of Chicago reporters. Marcia Gay Harden is going to play Zoe, the millionaire owner of the newspaper, the leader of the pack.
Since winning the 2001 best supporting Oscar for
Pollack, which was directed and co-starred
her husband Ed Harris, Marcia's gone back and forth between TV and features. She received another Oscar nom for
Mystic River in 2004, and last season did a memorable -- and Emmy nominated -- turn as a determined, driven FBI agent on
Law & Order: SVU.

If you want great acting, she will come.
The Field of Dreams allusion is purposeful. The leading lady from that film,
Amy Madigan, is joining ABC's Grey's Anatomy. The actress who's a past Oscar-nominee for
Twice in a Lifetime will have a recurring role, becoming part of the Seattle Grace Hospital coterie on April 24 when the show returns with new episodes.
Last year, Amy was seen in Ben Affleck's
Gone Baby Gone, which interestingly came out soon after she appeared on CBS's
Criminal Minds for two shows. Going from features to television is clearly not a problem for the gifted actress. In fact, she won a Golden Globe for the TV movie
Roe vs. Wade in 1990.

Jon Stewart started off by stating, "Everyone is welcome here at
The Daily Show except... Belgians. I hate them
so
much". The audience was laughing it up, while I tried to dig through my head for any Belgian current events
that he might be mocking. In the end, I came to two possible conclusions: It was yet another pre-show
warm-up reference for the audience to enjoy (Belgian visitors, I guess), or Jon really does hate Belgians. The
former seems more logical, but the latter is a lot funnier to imagine... I will go with the latter. Jon
also remarked on the funky weather that New York has been having (about 60 degrees one day, 20 degrees the
next). "I believe that God... hates us," he said. "I feel like He's hazing us".
