The Office games coming to Scranton

Mindy KalingTo some, the only games that matter this summer will be the Olympics in Beijing. To others, Scranton, Pennsylvania will be the place to be for the real games.

On Saturday, July 19, The Office's number one on-screen enthusiast, spunky Kelly Kapoor -- played by actress/writer/co-executive producer Mindy Kaling -- will host a series of games to promote the release of two new The Office products. NBC and Pressman Toy have created The Office DVD Board Game and The Office Trivia Game.

Amy Ryan keeps her Office job

Amy RyanIn last season's finale of The Office, sparks flew between Michael Scott and Toby's HR replacement Holly. Amy Ryan, seen for four seasons on The Wire, brought a new dynamic to the show as Holly with her interactions with Steve Carell's Michael. "Amy gave the character of Holly an openness and matured innocence that exposed a new side of Michael," said Paul Lieberstein, who played Toby and was recently promoted to executive producer on the show. "She placed her character right on his level."

All I can say is bring on more Holly and congratulations to Toby! I guess since Lieberstein will still be so involved with the show, there's always a chance of more Toby in the future, but the beautiful Ryan will add a new dynamic to the series. While Amy Ryan's currently only set for five or so episodes, I hope they can expand that if it works. Now that Pam is back off the market and Karen's gone, Holly represents a new amorous target for the boys of the office. And having her be the HR rep at the same time makes it all the more taboo to pursue. Which means Michael will be all over it like Dwight on Second Life.

Sneak peek of The Office finale -- VIDEOS

Jim and Dwight"This is man is an impostor. Do not do business with him. This is not Dwight Schrute." --Dwight to Jim

NBC has released a sneak peek of The Office's season finale called "Good-bye Toby." After Thursday night's stellar episode, I'm psyched for the finale even though I tend to be underwhelmed by one-hour Office episodes. How about you? Ready for next Thursday?

In the scene, Jim reprograms Dwight's phone to forward to his own. Dwight reacts...well, exactly how you'd expect him to. It's pretty hilarious. I love the Jim-Pam-Dwight dynamic. And I love any time Jim pulls a prank on Dwight. My favorite prank had to be when Jim sent Dwight a fax from "future Dwight" telling him not to drink the coffee.

I put the video after the jump. I also put the two-minute recap of last Thursday's show just in case you missed it. The Office's one-hour season finale is Thursday May 15th at 9 p.m. ET / PT.

The Office: Did I Stutter? - VIDEO

Steve Carell as Michael Scott - (S04E12) Jay Black couldn't be with us today because he was called away suddenly. Something about not leaving the table until he'd finished all his vegetables but he didn't like asparagus and yet that didn't matter he can sit there all night if he has to or until the asparagus evolves arms and legs and jumps off his plate and leaves on its own. So he figured since my name is the closest to his, maybe we could get away with this last minute pinch hit.

I got an episode that won't necessarily go down in the annals of time as an Office classic, but does bring us back to the core of the show: the office. The episode takes place entirely in one day, entirely in the office, and virtually every cast member gets pulled into one storyline or the other. For me, this is when The Office is at its best, when its presenting us barely controlled chaos. Offices are constantly bustling with activity productive or otherwise. Tonight's episode captured just that, and very well.

WGA allows Rainn Wilson to write/host Spirit Awards

Rainn WilsonIn a reversal of their stance on most of the major awards shows this season, Variety tells us the WGA is not only allowing Guild member Rainn Wilson to host the 2008 Spirit Awards, but he has received a waiver to write gags for it as well. The awards ceremony will be held February 23, a day before the Oscars (which did not receive a waiver), on the Santa Monica beach in a tent.

Broadcast live and uncensored on IFC at 5/4pm Central, the Spirit Awards honors the best in independent filmmaking and tends to feature a lot of off-color humor and remarks. Hell, last year's host Sarah Silverman opened the ceremony with a long discussion of her Mommy parts! Hopefully Wilson won't feel the need to discuss his Daddy parts, but if he wants to tell any off-color stories about Jenna Fischer, I'm all ears. Pam Beesly is my Office crush (Shh! don't tell HR) and now that Jenna's as "single" as Pam is, I can fantasize about both of them without feeling guilty! It's a win-win ... win!

Season three of The Office comes to DVD on September 4

Season Three of The Office comes to DVD on September 4thIf you are a fan of both The Office and 30 Rock then you may be delighted or upset with the following information. The season three DVD box set of NBC's The Office is being released on September 4th, the same date that 30 Rock is being released. If money is no object, than this is good news. However, if you budgeted for only one DVD release then you may have an issue.

Maybe listing the bonus features will help you decide between the two box sets. The Office DVDs feature 3 hours of deleted scenes, 16 minutes of bloopers and commentaries made by eight of the cast members (not listed in the press release we were sent). Also featured are the Lazy Scranton and "Make your own promo contest" videos as well as a music video from Dwight Schrute himself.

Still not convinced? Well, take a look at Michael's expression on the DVD box art. He's so sad. It's like he's begging you to buy the DVD set. Now, how can you turn down a face like that?

Yup, Ryan did get that promotion on The Office

B.J. NovakRemember the twist at the end of the season finale for The Office, where Ryan got the job that Michael, Jim, and Karen interviewed for? Judging from e-mails and other comments, many fans were confused and didn't think that Ryan really got the job, that it was some sort of trick out by the show that would be explained when the new season starts. But it looks like Ryan did indeed get the gig (which is probably good, since it would be weird being in the same office as the girlfriend you just said "we're done" to).

How did Dwight and Angela hook up?

dwight; michael; angelaWe all saw the Christmas episode of The Office last year where Dwight and Angela were making out in the shed/dog house at Jim's house. But, what's the attraction between these two? The actors who play Dwight and Angela, Rainn Wilson and Angela Kinsey, talked to TV Guide about why those two characters hooked up.

Among the goofy revelations, Rainn thinks the sparks initially flew at the Dunder-Mifflin Scranton branch when someone put the wrong size paper in the copy machine. Oh, and both of the actors agree that Angela and Dwight are super-kinky in the bedroom. Turn-ons include Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek and paintball!

The Office brings SexyBack - VIDEO

If you're like me, you're waking up with a major hangover today. It has nothing to do with the elections and everything to do with Britney and K-Fed's divorce. Like, OMG! I totally thought they'd last 4EVER!

To brighten your day, I have a video mash-up for you. It's The Office meets Justin Timberlake's SexyBack. It brings a whole new meaning to the song, which was just 'okay' in my book until I saw the video. It's mostly Dwight and Michael, with a little Jim sprinkled in (the one who's really bringing sexy back!). Next time I hear that song on the radio, I'll be rocking out in my car with some Michael Scott dance moves! Look for me on a freeway near you.

Video is after the jump:

Get a call from Dwight Schrute

Get a call from Dwight SchruteFeel like being berated over the phone by an overzealous paper salesman with designs to take over the world? Then go over to the web site for Season Two of The Office, where you can "Get a Call from Dwight". Just pick from one of five messages, leave your phone number, and Dwight Scrhute will call at some point and bitch you out for being late to work, ordering an inordinate amount of salmon-covered paper, or something bad on your resume.

We had Dwight call our contact line (see the banner on the right); click here to hear the message (the file is also enclosed in this post for any RSS feed readers with embedded mp3 playing capability). At the end, he gives a code that will unlock a part of the website that shows deleted scenes from Season Two of the show. So, have Dwight call you, or have him yell at an unsuspecting friend. Either way, it's something that will help you stave off boredom for a half-hour or so.

NBC customer service really sucks

dwight schrute bobbleheadRemember how my Dwight Schrute bobblehead arrived in two pieces? That was July 12th. On that day, I called NBC customer service and the genius on the telephone told me not to send it back and that someone would call me in 1-2 business days with instructions. Guess what? It's been nine business days and not a peep. I had nearly forgotten about it, except I was cleaning boxes off the dining room table and found Broken Dwight. I called NBC customer service again, and this time the guy told me that I should've sent it back. Ya think? I also have to pay for postage. And Dwight is so popular that I probably won't get one until September.

Am I in an episode of The Office?
