Finally after seasons of torment, humiliation and just plain squirmishness, the members of
The Office will have their revenge on the man they call their boss. Hot, stinky, nasty revenge. Who says it's best served cold? People who are too lazy to pre-heat, that's who.
NBC confirmed that
The Office's Michael Scott
will get the roast he deserves in a special hour-long episode following the Super Bowl, according to TVWeek.
But will this be the opportunity that the members of the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin have been waiting for ever since they agreed to start working there, or will Michael's knee-jerk need to be anything but the butt of a joke ruin their chances?

Office webisodes. For those of you who like your Dunder Mifflin-ites live, Mindy Kaling (Kelly) will be hosting the
Office Games in Scranton on Saturday, July 19.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to participate in a conference call with Mindy Kaling and Brian Baumgartner (Kevin) as they discussed the webisodes, Office Games, friendly competition and the status of a few MIA Dunder Mifflin employees.

(S04E13) Remember that movie
The Chase? Okay, you probably don't, but believe me,
it exists [link NSFW]. Anyway, Charlie Sheen takes Kristy Swanson hostage, and over the course of the movie some major league Stockholm Syndrome kicks in (like, really major league: they do it while he's leading the cops on a high speed chase). The lesson of the movie is obvious: if you kidnap the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she'll eventually fall in love with you.
I bring this up because I'm becoming scared that I might have lost perspective on
The Office. I've sincerely loved every episode that has aired since its return from the break. Now, here's the question: is this because the writers spent the entire strike doing brain push-ups? Or is it because

(S04E12) Jay Black couldn't be with us today because he was called away suddenly. Something about not leaving the table until he'd finished all his vegetables but he didn't like asparagus and yet that didn't matter he can sit there all night if he has to or until the asparagus evolves arms and legs and jumps off his plate and leaves on its own. So he figured since my name is the closest to his, maybe we could get away with this last minute pinch hit.
I got an episode that won't necessarily go down in the annals of time as an
Office classic, but does bring us back to the core of the show: the office. The episode takes place entirely in one day, entirely in the office, and virtually every cast member gets pulled into one storyline or the other. For me, this is when
The Office is at its best, when its presenting us barely controlled chaos. Offices are constantly bustling with activity productive or otherwise. Tonight's episode captured just that, and very well.

(S04E11) Writing
Office reviews for TV Squad has certain perils. For instance, if I write a negative review of an episode that the vast majority of our readership enjoyed, I am treated to dozens of emails asking me which kind of poop is it, exactly, that has replaced my brain (for the record, it's lhasa apso poop). When I complain to my wife about these comments -- I handle criticism about as well as Steve Martin's son from
Parenthood -- she says I'd be better off just writing a positive review of every episode. For some reason, positive reviews don't seem to warrant the same vitriol as negative ones.
Now, while I might cheat on my taxes or steal from the elderly, I would never sell out my integrity when it comes to television blogging. If an episode is bad, I promise you I'll write a negative review. Unfortunately for my integrity, however, it doesn't seem like the producers of
The Office plan on airing a bad episode any time soon...

While I'm sure her Office alter-ego would find an unwed pregnancy extremely unprofessional, real-life Angela Kinsey and her husband are very excited to be expecting their first child in May, according to Zap2It.com. Assuming the pesky strike ends before the season does, one would assume writers will either have to work the pregnancy into the show or work around it with strategically placed filing cabinets and Angela walking around holding her clipboard constantly.

The new millennium promotion train just keeps running over at NBC. The latest is a strange
online job posting from the folks at Dunder Mifflin. It seems that the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company is looking for highly motivated, self starters, to join the Dunder Mifflin Infinity program. You'll need an Elementary or equivalent education level, and your commission based salary is payable in SchruteBucks.
If that all sounds good, you can head over to the
Infinity program to fill out an application for a regular employee position, or if you are a real go-getter, put in your app for a Regional Manager position. And, bonus, if you have the Season Three DVD set, you already have a code for some bonus SchruteBucks. As you work your way through the whole process you'll end up at the DMI portal, which isn't quite complete yet. As of this writing there are still some sections cordoned off by the all too familiar 'Coming Soon' label. If you are a fan of
The Office though, it might be worth a sign up just to see what they do with it.

Jim put himself on the line with Pam last year. That didn't work out; he transferred from Scranton. (Who knew that the Stamford office would also be full of loonies? But that only makes it more credible that either branch might be the one forced to close.)
Kudos to the writers for finding a way to put off the number one killer of sitcoms -- the hooking-up of long-unconsummated lovers. Jim appears to be the guy in the office who can't get through the tedium of a day without a little sexual tension. Who can blame him, when the other choices are pushing paper products or team-building exercises gone wild?

Sheesh. You'd think that winning an Emmy would buy a cast some time off. Not so for the crew over at Dunder Mifflin. Michael has
been covering the webisode mystery since July. But that isn't all that NBC had the cast up to this summer. While clicking around Comcast's On Demand service today I came across the NBC fall preview. Between promos for their various shows, there were eight little scenes from The Office. Everyone gets to play, but the focus is mostly on Dwight, Pam, and Jim. If you are a fan of the show, you will enjoy it. I'll not spoil it for you by quoting, but there are some classic Dwight lines. And thanks to the power of the internet, you won't even need Comcast to see it. Watch the video, sans previews, after the jump.
