Last week,
the rumors about the Friends movie were shot down by Warners. Now, you can put
The Sopranos feature in the dead zone, too. Who's the voice of authority with the lowdown on what's really going on in David Chase's fevered mind? A psychiatrist, of course.
Okay, seriously, he's not a shrink, he just played one on
The Sopranos.
Director-actor Peter Bogdanovich was asked about a possible big-screen Sopranos and he said it's not going to happen.
"I spoke to David Chase a month ago, and he said no. He said he thought about it, and he can't figure out a way to do it. So I don't think it will ever happen. I don't think you can ever say never, but my hunch is it won't happen."
Bogdanovich should know. He played Dr. Melfi's psychiatrist, Dr. Elliot Kupferberg, and he spoke directly to Chase. No middle men, the big enchilada himself, the creator of
The Sopranos himself, told it to him straight.

Welcome to TV Squad Lists (formerly 'The Five'), a feature where each blogger has a chance to list his or her own rundown of things in television that stand out from the rest, both good and bad.
I'm honestly not even sure how I came up with this, but there are a ton of medical dramas and comedies on TV. That means there's a lot of TV doctors, both past and present. So why not have some of them do battle? I think it seems incredibly logical. Peanut butter and jelly. Hot dogs and beans. TV doctors and cage-matches. So there... because I said so.
Now, with so many shows out there, some people may be wondering why I didn't choose doctors from some of the programs you'd expect. For instance, I stayed away from pitting any of the members of Grey's Anatomy in a battle royale because I figured if any of them got into a fight with someone, it'd just turn into an unexpected sex romp. By the same token, I didn't pick anyone from St. Elsewhere figuring that any fight involving someone from that show would just evolve into an inside joke that only a few people understood. Additionally, not every character I picked is from a straight up "medical" show and in one instance, I'm not sure they're actually even a doctor. Whatever... it sounds fun doesn't it?

Being the TV guru in my group of friends and family, there were
many questions that I got rapid-fire during last night's sixth
season premiere (Did you know
Adrianna's still alive? Is Tony Dead? Is Johnny Sack still gonna be in prison?), but the most frequent one I got was
"Who is this Gene guy?" You know who I'm talking about-- Gene was the one who inherited the millions of
dollars from his dying aunt. He was the one who killed himself (in an incredibly graphic scene). He was the one who
no-one had seen before last night's episode. Well, that's where people were wrong. You see,
Robert Funaro has been playing the character of
Eugene Pontecorvo since
early Season 3. Sure, he hasn't had a huge
role in the series so far (he's been one of the family's generic soldiers, normally answering to Paulie or Sil) but
he's been there. Would the writers really just introduce him for the sake of killing him off though?
