Dont Forget the Lyrics-related stories

I guess NBC is getting the last laugh. Sort of. Well, not really. Nevertheless, when they first launched
The Singing Bee in 2007, the FOX copycat machine was in full effect. In fact, NBC had to push up the premiere of
Bee to try and get an edge on FOX's
Don't Forget the Lyrics. But while
Lyrics has been canceled,
Bee is still going strong. Just not on NBC.
Actually, by broadcast network standards, it's still doing horrible, but its 1.5 million viewer debut back in June on CMT was enough to make it the highest-rated series debut ever on the network.
CMT is so excited with The Singing Bee, they've asked for 20 more installments. The show went country when it switched to CMT, dumping Joey Fatone in favor of Melissa Peterman (
Reba) as host, and focusing more on the sad, sad lyrics that make up country music.
If I were NBC, I'd go ahead and get excited about this. Sure, they canceled the show and it was performing horribly for them. But by doing so, they created a big hit for CMT. And they can still claim that their show outlasted FOX's copycat. Sort of. Well, not really.

Who would have thought that this year we'd have two shows on the air with the word "mental" in them?
FOX has announced their summer lineup, and it includes a new medical drama titled
House. Oh, sorry, I mean it's called
Mental. It's about "a dynamic, young psychiatrist who serves as Director of Mental Health Services at a Los Angeles hospital. At work he must reconcile his effective, yet highly unorthodox treatment methods with his conservative boss, hospital administrator Nora Skoff (Annabella Sciorra), a woman with whom he shares a romantic past. As Gallagher takes on new cases, he is confronted with patients battling unknown, misunderstood and often misdiagnosed conditions."
House Mental will star Chris Vance.

A day hasn't gone by where we haven't received some sort of tip or email asking us, the TV Squad, how to get on [insert reality show here]. Unfortunately no, Simon Cowell does not work for us, and Donald Trump isn't my BFF, so we really can't help all that much.
The folks at RealityWanted.com often send us a list of new and existing reality shows that are looking for new, er, talent, and they've given us permission to make mention of them here. We'll try to make this a regular feature as often as we get a new list.
This time we have America's Next Top Model, Don't Forget the Lyrics and a lot of new shows.

Last week, you had a chance to nominate shows for
The Jeopardy Award. This award rewards the primetime game show requiring the most skill. Because of the fact that we are only looking for shows that air in primetime, a lot of game shows requiring skills are out of the running. So is the case for
Cash Cab, which received a lot of nominations,
Crosswords and
Jeopardy.
After the jump you will find the nominees, listed in alphabetical order, for The Jeopardy Award, along with a poll for the Reader's Choice Award. Both winners will be announced next week.

Holy frik! We've only just started to embrace the return of our shows after a shortened strike season. Now, they are almost over. In the next few weeks all of our network favorites will say good-bye for the summer to be replaced with reality shows, reality game shows, reality soap operas, and Regis on primetime (again).
Needless to say, I'm a bit depressed. As I am sure you are as well. But, we will do our duty and press on. Thusly, we here at the sprawling lakefront offices of TV Squad (you choose the lakefront) have compiled list of when your favorite, and not so favorite, shows will be saying good-bye for their summer vacation. As usual, taking the fickleness of the networks, these times and days can change at a moment's notices. We will try to update you of those changes as quickly as our little fingers can type it out.
So, with a leaden heart, here are your season and series finales.
