Sometimes it's really dangerous to try to recreate something you've seen on television. Can you imagine trying to fly like Nathan on
Heroes or trying to be an overweight guy who marries a really hot woman like on all of the sitcoms? Dangerous! We've already seen a bunch of kids injured by trying to copy stunts on
Jackass and
Punk'd.
But some recreations aren't that dangerous, especially if you do them inside. Mena Trott over at the
Dollar Short blog decided to see if she could attach balloons to her young daughter and have her float in the air, a la
Webster in the opening credits of the 80s ABC sitcom. The result? Well, turns out you can't put a bunch of balloons on a child or a small person (or a dog) and make them float in the air.

Ellen DeGeneres just can't stay away from controversy. Even though she hasn't done anything as ballsy as coming out (I guess you can't do that twice, can you?), which fortunately didn't tank her career, this year was a bang-up year for Ellen in the news. The first dog I am referring to in the title is, in fact,
a canine. Did anybody not hear about Ellen's infamous dog story? Ellen adopted a dog from a dog agency called Mutts and Moms, and signed agreements at the time that if the adoption didn't work out, she would return the dog to the agency. I presume Ms. DeGeneres has signed contracts before, but maybe this one didn't count. Maybe this one didn't seem binding. Or maybe she was just in a hurry that day, and
didn't actually read it. (MSNBC claims that DeGeneres didn't read the contract, and that her partner Portia de Rossi signed).

Duane "Dog" Chapman is in a heap of trouble over some horribly racist comments he made. They're so bad that A&E
has halted production on
Dog the Bounty Hunter while the network investigates the matter.
Here's the story: The
National Enquirer magazine has audio tapes where Chapman uses the 'N' word repeatedly and tells his son not to date black girls. Somehow, the magazine acquired a tape of a phone call between "Dog" and his son.
Chapman won't talk about it, but he did send his pastor out to
calm down the media. Pastor Tim Storey, called "the pastor to the stars" by
USA Today, said "Dog" cried for 30 minutes about it, saying "Can you believe, Tim, that I'm going to be put in the same category as Imus." Storey said that "Dog's" excuse was that he was mad at his son about his relationship with some girl.

It's clear that Ellen DeGeneres didn't know what she was in for
when she sobbed on her television show earlier this week about a dog rescue gone bad. Ellen cried as she told the audience how she adopted a dog from an animal rescue organization, but it didn't get along with her cats, so she gave it to her hairdresser. That violated the agency's adoption rules, so the agency took the dog away from the heartbroken hairdresser and her family. Ellen pleaded for the agency to return the dog and apologized for screwing up.
Then things got ugly. Fans of Ellen began harassing the rescue organization by sending angry--and sometimes threatening--emails. The owner of the organization said the threats scared her so badly that she closed her doors and stayed home on Wednesday.
On today's show, Ellen asks viewers to leave the organization alone. But she also says that she wants it to return the dog to the hairdresser because the woman's daughter is so attached to it.

Ellen DeGeneres is hoping the power of television and celebrity will give a little dog some special treatment. During today's show, DeGeneres
breaks down and sobs as she tells the audience about her effort to find a good home for a dog she adopted.
Here's the story: last month, Ellen and her partner, Portia de Rossi, adopted a Brussels Griffon mix called Iggy. But Iggy didn't get along with the cats, so Ellen gave him to her hairdresser. It turns out, she violated the rescue/adoption agreement with Mutts and Moms, which promptly took Iggy away from the hairdresser. On today's show, Ellen pleads with the agency to return the dog to the hairdresser whose two daughters had become attached to Iggy.
It's pretty heart wrenching stuff- video after the jump.

Bart: You can't send him away. He's a dog, not Grandpa.
Special hint: if you're ever lost in a giant maze (corn or otherwise) you can find your way out simply by keeping your hand on the wall and walking.
You know, if Santa's Little Helper is the main focus of an episode, chances are it's not going to be very good. I didn't laugh very much during this episode, but here's what I did like:

Imagine something like
Super Nanny meets
Dog: The Bounty Hunter, and you've just about put together an entire episode in your head of WE's new reality show,
Wife, Mom, Bounty Hunter, which hits the airwaves in April. Sandra Scott, a former wrestler (she played Tiffany Mellon from
Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) juggles teenage daughter Sabree, six-year-old "baby girl" Ever-Skye, bratty husband Ron (who looks like he's 18 years old) and catches criminals. She's blonde, but you won't find me calling her stupid. At least to her face.
In the teaser for the show, Sandra says "Guys have their muscles, and I have ... other assets. I'll go to the door with my boobs hanging out and ask for help." That's her modus operandi, and it really seems to work, on the men at least. Go figure. I'm not sure if American is really ready for another show about bounty hunters, but at least she's a lot easier on the eyes than Dog. Plus, her bite looks like it would be a lot worse than her bark.
From the panel: Ron states: "I'm also an electrical contractor, I like to work with my hands." Sandy: "I'll say that you do!" Yow. I really want to take a shower now.

(S02E03) First of all, the animation keeps getting better and better. The opening scene at the park had so much happening, and the show pops off the screen in a vibrant way it didn't during the first season. Not that the first season had bad animation, far from it, but the look is improving as it does in most animated shows. I also loved the bubbles foaming in the sink in the final scene when Bloberta is scrubbing a turkey and a lobster.

On Sunday December 10, the National Geographic Channel will premiere In the Womb: Animals, a two-hour special that uses ultrasound imagery along with computer imagery and visual effects to show how different species such as elephants, dogs and dolphins develop while in utero. Call me a sucker for nature programs, because damn it, I live for these kind of specials. You'll see how a dolphin learns to swim while still in the womb, and get a glimpse of the wonders of evolution when the elephant fetus develops ducts like a fish, and the dolphin fetus develops "legs" of sorts.
Okay, now I'm starting to sound like a commercial for the program, but what can I say, this science stuff fascinates me. Just look at that picture on the right of an elephant developing in the womb and tell me it doesn't blow your mind*. Okay, I'll stop with the awe now, but if you're as into this stuff as I am, you should check out some video previews here.
*It's actually a CGI, but it's still pretty damn cool.

While Duane "Dog" Chapman awaits trial to decide if he'll be tried in Mexico after his recent arrest for illegal detention of convicted rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, twenty-nine members of Congress have asked Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to deny the Mexican government's extradition request to have Chapman sent there for trial. Chapman, along with his son Leland and partner Tim Chapman, were arrested by Mexican authorities for illegal detention after capturing Luster in 2003. The three posted bail but never returned for their court date. Bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, and Chapman refused to relinquish Luster to the Mexican authorities. Plans to have Chapman extradited to Mexico were put in motion only a few days before the statute of limitations was set to expire.

If you're a fan of bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman and want to stay current about what's been going on with him since his capture last month, A&E has a page on their site where Dog's wife Beth gives fans quick video updates on how Dog is doing, as well as his son Leland and his brother Tim, who were also arrested in connection with the arrest of convicted rapist Andrew Luster in Mexico. I've been trying to follow this since it happened, and not much new news has developed in the last few weeks. Beth's updates reflect this, and she mostly just talks about how everyone is doing emotionally. In that respect, I can only recommend this to those who are diehard fans of the series. People looking for the cold, hard facts aren't going to learn much, at least not at this time.

This evening at 10 pm A&E is airing a one-hour special titled
Dog: The Family Speaks. The special will feature exclusive interviews with family members about the
recent arrest of Duane "Dog" Chapman, his son Leland and his partner Tim Chapman connected to their arrest of convicted rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster three years ago. Chapman was charged with illegal detention in Mexico after Luster's capture but never returned for his court date after posting bail. US Marshals took the men into custody on Thursday, and currently all three of the men are
out on bail and awaiting an extradition hearing to decide if they'll be sent to trial in Mexico.

Bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman, who was arrested in 2003 on charges of illegal detention after his 2003 capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster that eventually led to the A&E series Dog the Bounty Hunter has been released from federal prison along with his son Leland and his partner Tim after posting bail (Dog's bail was $300,000 whereas Tim and Leland's was $100,000 each). The three have had charges pending against them for posting bail but never returning for their court date. A judge has ordered the men to wear monitoring bracelets, not to possess any firearms and to remain in Hawaii until they return to court for extradition hearings which will determine whether they'll go to trial in Mexico. If convicted, Chapman could face six months to four years in prison.
A crowd of supporters gathered at the court house, and A&E filmed the event for the next season of the TV show.

Next to Boba Fett, Dog the Bounty Hunter is probably the best known bounty hunter out there. While I usually can't stand shows like Cops or Real Stories of the Highway Patrol, Dog the Bounty Hunter has a cool kind of heart and soul to it I can really get into. Dog has that tough but lovable Mr. T or Hulk Hogan vibe to him that makes his A&E series quite entertaining. There's just one tiny little complaint I have about last night's episode, and that was Dog's inability to pronounce the word "Valentine's" correctly. Throughout the entire episode, which took place on Valentine's Day, Dog continuously pronounced it "ValenTIMES Day." Dog isn't the only one guilty of this, I hear other people pronounce it that way all the time. Also, to be fair, I know I'm guilty of mispronouncing the occasional word. Of course, now I'm going to be known in my apartment complex as that weird guy who was yelling "Damn it, it's ValenTINE'S!" over and over again. I suppose that would sound kind of strange out of context, and in the middle of July. Next week I'll complain about Elmer Fudd's inability to say the letter "R."

The Jack Russell Terrier that played 'Eddie' on the long-running sitcom, 'Frasier', died last week. The pup's real name is Moose. His trainer says he died of old age last Thursday in Los Angeles. The little fella was 16-and-a-half years old, which is impressive for a dog.
Moose's trainer, Mathilde Halberg, saved him from the pound back in the early 1990s. She tells
PEOPLE magazine, "He was extremely mischievious, always escaping, chewing up things and running off. When he killed a neighborhood cat and chased some horses, that was it." Sounds like little Moose was a bad ass.
