TLC premieres Hope for Your Home

kirsten kemp beckerTLC is adding to their real estate reality slate once again with Hope for Your Home. The show, hosted by Kristen Kemp Becker (Property Ladder) will feature families who are trying unsuccessfully to sell their homes. Each half-hour episode will showcase one family facing tough financial circumstances. Kemp Becker will advise the family as to what improvements they can make, a contractor will help them make said improvements, and a real estate agent will come in after and assess the home's value and how quickly it could sell.

While Hope for Your Home sounds informative (especially for families looking to make cost-efficient changes to their properties), it sounds really boring. I find Extreme Home Makeover annoying but at least we get a bunch of quirky personalities ("quirky" is probably the most generous adjective I could think of) and we get "extreme" changes to the homes. It's interesting to see how the team does a complete overhaul on the house. This show? I'm not so sure. What do you think?

Hope for Your Home premieres on Saturday August 9th, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Vern Yip comes back for round three of Deserving Design

Designer and architect Vern Yip is back for a third season of HGTV's Deserving Design. The series will continue to focus on people with touching stories who are in need of some renovation assistance. Stories of this season include a couple who has taken in over sixty foster children (they get a much-needed new family room), a young woman diagnose with advanced breast cancer who needs some design assistance with her condo, and an eco-conscious couple who are in need of Vern's expertise.

I'm excited this show is back for a third season. I loved Vern Yip's designs when he was on Trading Spaces. He always did affordable, modern, and clean-looking updates to the participants' homes. Plus this show isn't as flashy as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. And there's no Ty Pennington screaming at you.

The new season starts tonight at 9 p.m. ET on HGTV. Will you be tuning in?

Six do-it-yourself TV hotties

Constance Ramos from HGTVAOL TV releases their next ten Sexiest Women of TV this week. I figured I would add some more of my own television hotties to the list. For my list, I decided to pay homage to some of the beautiful hosts of Do-It-Yourself television (networks like Food Network, Fine Living, and The Discovery Channel).

You may think that this list is way too obscure. But these men and women and totally hot and they teach us how to do stuff like make roasted asparagus or build rocking chairs or pick a color scheme for our homes. I think they deserve some attention.

Feel free to add your own favorite Do-It-Yourself Hottie in the comments. (By the way, my picks are in no particular order. I just couldn't choose who I liked the best.)
