Medium: Being Joey Carmichael - VIDEO

One Happy Family(S04E15) "All right, one more time for the slow kid." - Lee Scanlon

When I was in grade school, sixth grade to be precise, everyone brought their lunch to school in a small brown paper bag, sometimes, girls used a cute version (white bag with hearts, pink bag with kitties) but other than that, there were no exceptions. If anyone was foolish enough to bring their mid day meal to school in a lunchbox of any kind, they would pay dearly. For example, my friend Lance who quickly earned the nickname "Lunchbox Lance" all because of his love for the rock band Kiss. Thankfully, it never occurred to Lance to fight back like the young man in Allison's dream. However, now that I am an adult and I collect vintage metal lunchboxes, I would pay a hefty price for the lunchbox that young man used to bludgeon his tormentor.

Kathy Baker(S04E07) "It's kind of like Sanford & Son except with females." - Joe Dubois

I remember when the season started, many of you were disturbed by the visage of the dead child, so I'm wondering how you feel about the self-immolation of an adult.

When I heard that Joe's mom was coming to visit, it reminded me how much I enjoyed seeing Joe's dead father when he visited Alison before. I was delighted to see him again in this episode. The strength of a show like Medium is really in it's characters and relatives (be they dead or alive) are always interesting characters. Moreover, Allison finally got to see a dead person outside of one of her dreams.

Medium: Joe Day Afternoon

David Cubitt - Medium(S03E17) Ok, this was a really good episode, and Adam Goldberg was a nice bit of casting. I'll get to all that in a minute, but first up. Where the heck was Scanlon? I realize that the Medium world revolves around the DuBois clan, and the rest of the cast are merely players in the telling of their story. But this was a hostage situation. And there is nothing for "Detective" Scanlon to do there? The D.A. shows up, but we can't get our favorite detective on site? It didn't ruin the episode, but it did stand out as something that was missing.

Lack of casting aside, I thought that team Medium delivered another winner tonight. They continued the trend of getting great guest stars as well. Adam Goldberg was terrific as Bruce. I'd put him just behind Mark Sheppard as my second favorite of the season. But then, "Blood Relations" remains my favorite episode of this go round. They kicked things off on just the right note with the strange DREAD opening. That, combined with Allison's cryptic dream really set the mood for what was to come.

Medium: Second Opinion

David Cubitt(S03E13) One thing you can say about Medium, they don't fall in to the trap of being a formulaic show. These last few weeks the shows have been all over the map with the structure and format. It's one of the things that makes the show so enjoyable.

I missed the very beginning of the episode because right as the show started my cable box decided that was the perfect time to shut itself off. So I scrambled to get all my junk flipped over to straight cable and came back in the middle of the scene with grown-up Ariel and Marie. It left me a little confused until old Joe and Allison turned up. I haven't decided yet whether Allison is just going to be a really hot 50+ woman or if the makeup to age Patricia Arquette just wasn't very well done. Old Joe looked good though.
