The new season of Sesame Street is right around the corner and, while I normally wouldn't give it a second thought, I am unusually excited right now. No, this isn't a snarky rant about how I've been driven to children's TV because of the sorry state of grown-up programming. Sesame Street's 39th season, starting August 11th, looks like it has a lot of fun lined up not only for the pre-schoolers but parents as well. I already posted Feist's upcoming special take on "1 2 3 4", but I had no idea how many amazing guest appearances were coming. Just check out this star-filled highlight reel after the jump.David Beckham-related stories

Jimmy Kimmel to air primetime specials
The late night comedian will be appearing during your primetime schedule. Starting tomorrow, Jimmy Kimmel LIve will run special half-hour shows each night that ABC airs the basketball finals. Special guests include: David Beckham, Edward Norton, Charles Barkley, Liv Tyler, Adam Sandler, Eminem, Shaquille O'Neil, Magic Johnson and New Orleans Hornets guard and 2008 MVP contender Chris Paul, among others. Out of the celebrities mentioned, I'm most interested to see Eminem. I haven't seen the Real Slim Shady on TV in awhile. He's always a good interview though -- all that contrived hostility and testosterone in overdrive. Who are you looking forward to seeing? Or is Kimmel's fabulousness enough to get you to tune in?
The schedule is after the jump.

Walters is tired of celebrities (yeah, right)
Tonight at 10, the annual Barbara Walters special The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2007 aired on ABC. And on the same day, Walters says that she's tired of celebrity interviews. She says that she's "not going after the tabloid stuff" and "It's a different climate now and 20/20 and the other magazines are focused on the big celebrities. I didn't want to keep doing that, I have been doing it for years." That's why people like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton aren't part of the list.
Or could it be that on no planet at any time would these two people be considered even remotely "fascinating?"

Ty Pennington and company blow up a house - VIDEO
We get a lot of press releases and other PR goodies here at TV Squad HQ; there are so many of them, to be honest, that it takes a lot for one to grab our attention. But this one managed to do it: it's a video clip of the upcoming episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. In it, Ty and crew go to Wyoming to help the Miller family rebuild their farmhouse into a haven for not only their family, but the mistreated animals that they have rescued over the years. The reason why they have to rebuild? The house is rife with Radon, and a simple renovation will not clean it all up.So, instead of imploding the house or demolishing it using a backhoe, Ty and company decide to blow it up. You heard me; watch the video after the jump and you'll see that they blow it up "real good," like it's being attacked by aliens in Independence Day. Here's what I want to know, though: doesn't that make the clean-up, which is now spread among a much bigger area, a whole lot more of a pain in the ass?

Stupid rumor of the day: David Beckham joins Desperate Housewives
Oh, come on, do they actually expect us to believe that David Beckham and Robbie Williams will play the gay couple of ABC's Desperate Housewives this season?
As Paul mentioned recently, a new gay couple will move into Wisteria Lane this fall. And now Digital Spy says that soccer star David Beckham has chosen singer Robbie Williams to be his partner on the show if it were to ever happen. The site also says that creator Marc Cherry says that Beckham picked Williams over new friend Tom Cruise.
Yeah, OK...

Victoria Beckham returns to NBC tonight
NBC considered Monday night's broadcast of Victoria Beckham: Coming to America a success. So much so, in fact, that the network is re-airing the one-hour special tonight (10 pm) with new footage. The net also shot some new video with Beckham that has her "hosting" tonight's comedy line-up, which includes repeats of My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, The Office, and Scrubs.Continue reading Victoria Beckham returns to NBC tonight
What did you think of Victoria Beckham?
I really didn't want to like Victoria Beckham. In photos, she never smiles. She is always impeccably dressed and frighteningly skinny. She was Posh Spice, but she's more famous for marrying David Beckham. She always seemed like a bitch, quite frankly. But, I am embarrassed to say that I found her adorable after watching last night's special, Victoria Beckham: Coming to America.Continue reading What did you think of Victoria Beckham?

Today on TV Squad Daily:
- It's becoming pageant tradition. Miss New Jersey is fighting a photo blackmail battle.
- David Beckham is definitely filming his own separate reality show now, and I bet they'll be able to get more than one hour's worth of footage from him (sorry Posh.)
- Is it personal or political? The creator of The Simpsons says there's no way the new British prime minister will follow in Tony Blair's footsteps with a guest appearance on the cartoon.
Beckhams filming separate reality shows
Victoria Beckham and her soccer player husband, David, are currently filming separate reality shows about their move to Los Angeles. Posh is all over Los Angeles this week, filming her series, which will air on NBC or Bravo. She's doing things like throwing out the first pitch at a Dodgers game and "accidentally" bumping into Perez Hilton at a coffee shop. And David Beckham is making his own reality show for British network, ITV. Producers say it's not so much about his wife and three sons, but about soccer. There's a great quote in the article about the driving force of this reality show, "David's move to LA Galaxy is an historic event... Viewers will get an amazing insight into his thoughts about the story that shook the world of football."
Beckham's reality series could become a primetime special
Not too long ago, Anna told you that former Spice Girl and wife of soccer star David Beckham, Victoria Beckham, would be starring in a reality series on NBC that would follow her and her husband as they make their move to the United States.
Well, the series is still happening, except it won't be a series, it'll be a primetime special. All of this is merely speculation at this point, and NBC hasn't made any comment one way or the other. However, like Anna, I haven't quite figured out what it is about this series/special that's supposed to attract people, especially Americans. I think whatever mainstream infatuation we had with Posh Spice has long since gone away, and while David Beckham is no doubt a superstar in his own right, soccer just isn't that popular here. That's not a slight against the sport itself, I'm merely pointing out that it's unclear exactly who this series/special is trying to attract.
Of course, surprises are always nice, so maybe after this hits TV screens I'll be coming back on this blog and telling everyone how great it is.
