Columbia University's choice for a less controversial graduation speaker may have backfired. Lost's Matthew Fox, a Columbia alumnus, has been chosen by the university to speak at Columbia College's Class Day this May, and some of the students are unhappy about it.
An article in the university's newspaper listed many negative reactions from students; some claimed to have never heard of Fox, others were less than impressed with the actor's accomplishments. The writers of Columbia's Bwog have complained that a more distinguished member of the alumni should have been invited. Students have already been urged to protest the school's decision to invite Fox.
Fox graduated from Columbia in 1989 with a degree in economics. He also played on the university's varsity football team.
