Scrubs: My Long Goodbye

On the Set of Scrubs

(S06E15) All right, before we begin this week's review I have been told to present the following reminder . . . Remember when Kevin Kelly and my brother Joel visited the set of Scrubs back in February? Well, they were there when this very episode was filmed. In other words, they knew who was going to die long before any of us did. We couldn't pry the secret out of them by any means. Even suitcases full of kittens didn't budge them. So, I think we're all glad that the, ahem, cat is out of the bag. Thank you, I'll be here all week!

Scrubs: My Therapeutic Month

Scrubs -- My Theraputic Month(S06E10) Here's the thing . . .

After a fairly lackluster first half of the season it seems that Scrubs is now returning back to what made this quirky comedy so funny for many of us. So, why the heck did it take so long? It shouldn't take ten weeks to get into the swing of things for a show that's been on for six seasons. There haven't been any cast changes, so everyone knows everyone else. The producer is still the same. Plus, the season before just seemed to take off like a rocket and continued ahead at light speed. What was different this time around?

By the way, this little rant isn't just for Scrubs, but for all of those other long-running shows that seem to be taking forever to get going this season . . . Gilmore Girls, Grey's Anatomy, SVU. All of these shows shouldn't need to warm up their engines and then start the race in the middle of the year! There, I feel better know. On to this week's program.

Why Watch TV: Scrubs

Zach Brajj and Donald Faison on ScrubsStop! Don't touch the remote! Keep that finger away from the Power button! In other words, don't turn off your TV during TV Turnoff Week. If you do, you'll be missing one of the funniest comedies on television today.

I am talking about NBC's Scrubs. There hasn't been a comedy since Friends, not even Everyone Everybody Loves Raymond, that makes me laugh out loud like Scrubs does. I mean, how can you not chuckle while Chris Turk (Donald Faison) dances and lip-synchs to Bel Biv Devoe's Poison. Or snicker when Dr. Cox (John McGinley) goes on one of his 30-second rant on, for instance, why the purple Wiggle is always sleeping (for the uninitiated, the purple Wiggle is Jeff Fatt of the very popular children's television show The Wiggles). Or guffaw when J.D. (Zach Braff) has one of his surreal daydreams in the middle of a conversation.
