Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding, better known to BBC and Adult Swim viewers as Howard Moon and Vince Noir of
The Mighty Boosh, hit New York's Bowery Ballroom Tuesday to celebrate the release of the first three seasons of the show on DVD.
The pair will be doing shows in the states until July 29, including Friday at the "Mighty Boosh Bash" at 4th and B in San Diego (they'll also be at Comic Con 2009), a guest spot on
Chelsea Lately Monday, and a MySpace Secret Show at the Roxy in L.A. on Tuesday.
The show is fairly new to Adult Swim, having debuted there in March, but judging from a couple of YouTube videos from the New York show, they seem to have developed a fanbase to fill the Bowery without much notice. We have some catching up to do Stateside, and the DVDs should help (stay tuned for my review of the three discs here). And since the Boosh was a stages show before it was a series, any of you lucky enough to be around for one of their stops will get to see a bit of the show's history.

I suppose if you want to be cynical, you could say that
Mayim Bialik is in the midst of a comeback, with several recent television roles, including guest stints on
Bones,
Secret Life of the American Teenager, and now,
Saving Grace. However, it's not as though the erstwhile star of
Blossom has spent the last fifteen years sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. After the series' end, she attended UCLA, got married, had two children, and even earned her PhD last year.
Ms. (er, Dr.) Bialik has indeed been busy, but she is now looking to make her way back into Hollywood. She's guest-starring on
Saving Grace tonight as Esther, a Hasidic Jewish mother of seven, whose own mother is found murdered in a field full of dead cows. I spoke with Mayim about
Saving Grace, the lasting legacy of
Blossom, and how she hopes people see her today.

If I go to Hell after I die, I'm quite certain that part of my eternal punishment would be sitting in a room with all the Real Housewives of New Jersey for all eternity. Therefore the following piece of news is about as close to Hell on Earth as I can get: popular rumor has it that Bravo has
renewed The Real Housewives of New Jersey for a second season.
I was born and bred in New Jersey (those of you offering condolences can shut it right now. I like New Jersey). As a result of sharing my humble abode with someone of the female persuasion, I have been subjected to this program. I can personally attest that very few people in New Jersey actually act like these "housewives". If you're planning a vacation, please don't let the behaviors of these women put you off from visiting the Garden State.
However, to give credit, the program did lead to a funny sketch on
Chelsea Lately. The video of that is after the jump.

It occurred to me recently that there are more gay and lesbian characters on TV right now than ever before. That's pretty cool.
And they run the gamut from
The L Word 's edgy Shane (pictured) to
Desperate Housewives' funny Bob to
Entourage's loyal Lloyd, who takes more verbal abuse from Ari Gold than anyone should ever be allowed to take.
See if you agree with my list of top gay characters on TV right now, and feel free to add your own in the comments. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I cover the night shift at
TV Squad, which means I edit and schedule posts in the blogging queue from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. I actually like the quiet time to work, since my household is pretty noisy during the day.
But one thing that gets me through the night is
Chelsea Lately, the late night talk show featuring comedian Chelsea Handler and her
little nugget Chuy. In my neck of the woods, her show airs at 3 and 3:30 a.m., just the exact moment I need a boost to carry me through to morning.
So I was pretty excited to read that
Chelsea's inked a shiny new deal with Comcast Entertainment Group. The agreement includes continuing to exec produce and star in her E! show,
Chelsea Lately, through 2012. She's also establishing a new company, Borderline Amazing Productions, which will have a first-look deal with Comcast's cable networks.
