If you've been having trouble touching yourself recently, it may be because the Pope is in the States. Because he doesn't really have anything better to do, President
Bush picked up the Pope from the airport. More coverage has been promised for Wednesday night, so I guess anyone that was expecting some in-depth Popewatch was sorely disappointed.
"House of Pain" (the alternate was "Itty-Bitty Torture Committee", which is so much better): To further creep out the entire country, Bush admitted that six of the top members of his administration have extensively gone through what is
considered torture. No wonder CIA Director George Tenet and company have freely and happily repeated that the government does not torture. Their definition probably stops just short of killing the interrogation subject. Asf for Condoleezza Rice's chuckle-inducing evasive maneuvering from that interview clip, it really shouldn't have been so chuckle-inducing.
Ha-HA! Sadist government.

Buster the Bunny has taken a lot of crap from the religious right. Star of
Postcards from Buster, the animated rabbit was at the center of a well-publicized, anti-PBS flare-up in 2005. The controversy concerned an episode of the show entitled "Sugartime," which introduced kids to a family working in Vermont's maple sugaring industry. That family was famously helmed by two moms. The cover story for the latest issue of
Rolling Stone magazine is all about America's favorite go-to fake newsmen, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. I don't think I've ever read an interview featuring the two of them together, so this was an interesting read. The magazine's official site has two new photos and
an excerpt of the interview. My favorite bit is the part where the reporter asks Jon and Stephen whether or not they will miss the Bush administration's fodder for satire...
ROLLING STONE: But wouldn't, say, a President Obama be harder to make fun of than these guys?
STEWART: Are you kidding?
COLBERT and STEWART in unison: His dad was a goat-herder!
I normally don't buy magazines off the rack, but I'll definitely pick up this one... if only for the awesome cover photo. The issue will be out until November 12th.

March Madness is still running rampant and
Jon has been doing less than well... He lost so much money that he has been banned from watching any more college
basketball. With basketball on the mind, I thought Jon said that the interview for the episode was going to be Michael
Jordan... but it was Michael Gordon. Oh well.
