Bones: Girl In The Mask - open thread

Bones

Of course, this could be a discussion of the other Bones episode we saw this week, "Double Death of the Dearly Departed." FOX has aired three episodes of Bones since last Thursday, surprising even longtime fans who had no idea that there would be yet another new episode of the show last night. What night would you like to see the show on permanently? And no, fans, you can't say "put it on twice a week every week." What did you think of last night's episode?

TV Squad Ten: TV DILFs

Bruce Thomas as Stephen Trager in Kyle XYI think I'm getting old. I realized this last season while watching an episode of Kyle XY. Matt Dallas, who plays Kyle himself, and his baby blues weren't doing anything for me. Chris Olivero (Declan) and his hunky jock thing didn't excite me either. I turned to my husband, mildly horrified when it hit me: "Honey, the hottest guy on this show is the dad!"

When my husband shook off his case of the giggles, he gently reminded me that the dad was, actually, closer to my age than the teenage boys. True, but I am so not as old as that dad... but I do think he's hot.

In fact, there have been a lot of hot dads, let's call them DILFs, on TV in recent years. Gives us oldies some eye candy too, I suppose. So, in descending order (yep, you've got to wait until the end for the super-hotties):

Kevin Bacon will be shooting Abraham Lincoln

ShowtimeIt looks like more period dramas (such as The Tudors) are headed to pay cable. And this time, "Booth" will not refer to a character on the TV show Bones.

Kevin Bacon will be executive-producing The Booths, a period drama about the Booth brothers, the most infamous of which, John Wilkes Booth, went on to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln.

It sounds like an interesting project. I do like historical dramas, but I'm always disappointed at their tendency to sacrifice historical accuracy for the sake of drama. Of course, when it's good drama, nobody seems to notice.

The nicest thing about being Kevin Bacon, other than being a famous actor, must be that it takes the fewest amount of steps to be in a Kevin Bacon movie for that Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game (the total number of steps would be, I believe, zero). One can say with surefire honesty that Kevin Bacon has been in all of Kevin Bacon's movies.

Why am I not allowed to watch Bones?

Bones castOh, the disparity with the television control in my house ... I suffer through Prison Break, Lost (I am probably the only non-fan in America, who cringes at the self-indulgence of the show with the plot that goes nowhere), The Shield and Breaking Bad.

But when I want to watch Bones? The moans, the groans, the laptop and the disinterest begin. Why is Bones not allowed in Mantown?

Tell me men, why are you opposed to a show with a strong male lead character, who is well rounded, funny, good-looking, sensitive, somewhat damaged but complex and good at what he does? You surely can't be threatened by a TV character. My husband loved Angel, so why is Boreanaz not getting the love on Bones?

Ron Jaworski replaces Joe Theismann in Monday Night Football booth

Ron JaworskiIt only took ESPN 20 years to see the error of their ways. But they have finally -- finally! -- replaced Joe Theismann as their main NFL game analyst. According to TV Week, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski will join Mike Tirico and Tony Kornheiser in the Monday Night Football booth for the upcoming football season. According to a network official, they are in talks with Theismann to put him in "another high-profile football role." Let's hope that role is somewhere in the studio, laughing at yet another Chris Berman nickname.

20 Questions with TJ Thyne of Bones

T J ThyneThere is a fun interview for fans of Bones, or fans of guys that sing Shaniah Twain songs in Chevy truck commercials, over at Pop Gurl. TJ Thyne, who plays Hodgins, answers 20 questions about the show, his career, and various other topics. I found his description of the original idea for Hodgins interesting. The series version of Hodgins is much different than the early concept, and definitely for the better. He's become my favorite character on the show.

They also cover the Hodgins/Angela relationship, how he found out he got the gig, the Hodgins fortune, and how things have changed between Booth and Hodges over time. And a bit of trivia for fans of the show: The original title was Brennan. It's not the worst title ever, but Bones is so much better. The interview is pretty much spoiler free. Thyne hints at something that may be coming up, but doesn't confirm it, so you're safe.
