(S06E06) Well, it's finally here! The musical episode of Scrubs, that is, with songs composed by Avenue Q's Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx. A brief synopsis of the plot: a patient (Stephanie D'Abruzzo, an original cast member of Avenue Q) is admitted to Sacred Heart after a fainting spell. From that point on everyone around her is singing and dancing. There are also two additional subplots. One deals with Carla's indecision to return to nursing after being home with her baby, and the second deals with Elliot moving into her own house without J.D. as a roommie.
But, the stories don't matter. What matters here is if this musical experiment paid off. It most definitely did! I would certainly put this behind 'Once More, With Feeling' the musical episode of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and far ahead of the one that 7th Heaven aired a season or two ago. Gosh, I'd put the musical episode of The Love Boat ahead of the 7th Heaven episode.
I digress. After the jump I'll give you a recap and a review of the big numbers in this week's show.

A few months ago,
we
brought you news of the Jim Henson Company's
late night television project and partnership with TBS.
More news has come to light regarding this and two other projects in development over at Henson headquarters in Hollywood.
On November 20th, TBS will be airing a taped performance of the Henson gang performing improvised, uncensored comedy at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival. This isn't the warm and wacky Muppet comedy of yore.
Puppet Up! Uncensored! is blue comedy developed by a whole new team of writers and performers looking to bring a fresh voice and renewed primetime supremacy to the Henson name. In addition to the improv performance, TBS has ordered up 30 episodes of
Uncensored for its forthcoming broadband channel and remains in negotiations over the semi-improvised late night talk show project.

See, I'm the kind of theater-lover that skips
Phantom of the Opera for
Spamalot, so I was quite excited when I heard this news...
Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, the composers of the hilarious Broadway hit
Avenue Q, have signed on to write songs for an upcoming
musical episode of Scrubs. The plot will revolve around a patient who claims to constantly hear music (even though all her tests look okay), and Lopez and Marx will write music for the opener, the act break, and the finale. There will also be a fourth song about a stool sample. Yeah. I still haven't figured out if the guys are kidding or not because, well,
Avenue Q isn't exactly known for its sophistication.
Now, can anyone tell me why the Internet is
really, really great?

This may come as a shock to many of you, but
South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are going to make fun of a group of people. I know, it took me a few moments to adjust to this news, as well. Weren't these the guys who held a press conference and tearfully apologized for attempting to show the prophet Muhammad during one of their episodes? Oh, wait, that was actually
Bizzaro Matt and Trey. I make that mistake all the time. The
real Matt and Trey are sharpening their satirical swords for a new Broadway musical about Mormons (seriously, what is it with
these guys and
Mormons?) The currently untitled musical is being developed with Jeff Marx, a writer for the gay-themed musical
Avenue Q.
