(S09E03) Who knew the
Smallville zombie episode would turn out to be such a bummer? Our heroes did nothing but whine, brood, and talk about their lonely lives while the almost undead were chompin' on people's limbs.
Where were the fun
Grindhouse-style action sequences with the good guys firing sawed-off shotguns and revving up chainsaws? Where were the decapitations? And where were the jokes? You'd think a show about Superman fighting zombies would have plenty of jokes.
I understand that every piece of zombie art can't be as fun and clever as
Zombieland, or as gloriously gory as
28 Days Later, but I was hoping for something a little more off the wall here.

(S08E13) Consider that she's a recurring guest-star, a Lana-centric episode was something of a surprise. However, since she and Clark have a lot of history, it's also a necessity in order for Clark to move on.
I didn't like this episode. The writing seemed more cliché and the acting more melodramatic than usual (and that's saying a lot), and the pacing of the direction seemed off. I will give Allison Mack the benefit of the doubt because it was her first time as a director (and she's just so darned cute).
The backstory was okay. I was even a little jealous because in the beginning of the show, I always fantasized about torturing the ever-whiny Lana. Okay, maybe not actually torture her, but I still found her annoying. Even worse, Kristen Kreuk's performance in this episode sort of reminded me of early Lana.

Today's stream of
Smallville-related news continues. We reported earlier that the show's former producers, Al Gough and Miles Millar, are writing
a movie version of the
Robotech TV series. Now, it looks like their small screen predecessors are looking to the big screen for inspiration.
Actually,
Smallville has never shied away from
ripping off borrowing ideas and concepts from movies. Just last week, Chloe (Allison Mack) experienced a memory meltdown right out of Michel Gondry's
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This Thursday, the show will dip into J.J. Abrams territory with a monster attack shot in
Cloverfield POV style. That's monster's name, of course, is Doomsday.

(S08E07) "He's just a regular guy." - Chloe about ClarkIt smells like sweeps time when you get rocking episodes such as "Identity." Episodes filled with action, mythology and storyline developments. And when
Smallville is concerned, you have to add the "one step closer for Clark to become Superman" factor to really have a truly rewarding episode. For me, "Identity" displayed all four elements and almost made me forget that
Lex left the building.

In one of the rowdiest panels of the Con, the stars and writers of the CW's Smallville took to the stage on the last day of the convention. Moderated by Joseph Loeb, the panel featured Allison Mack (Chloe), Justin Hartley (Green Arrow), new stars Sam Witwer (Doomsday), Cassiday Freeman (Tess), and showrunners Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer. It was a panel full of spoilers, fan appreciation, and a good amount of name plaque requests.

Smallville fans, you can finally resume breathing. The last few weeks have been a roller coaster due to the fact
the two creators left the show, because of
the departure of Michael Rosenbaum and the announcement that two new regulars would join and because of contract negotiations for Kristin Kreuk and Allison Mack.
It was confirmed pretty early on that
Kreuk would only be a part-timer next season. However,
Mack's future with the show was up in the air. Actually, it was even talked that she would
not be returning because she couldn't reach an agreement with The CW show. The latter news was supported by the fact her name was omitted earlier this week in the
network's Upfront press release.

They've lost Lex Luthor and Lana Lang as regulars, and now it looks like Chloe Sullivan might also be swept from Season 8 of Smallville. TV Guide reports that Allison Mack, the actress who plays Chloe, is in negotiations for her contract.
This could go either way. The show is suffering from the loss of Michael Rosenbaum and Kristen Kreuk as regulars, which is likely why Mack's people are now trying to negotiate her contract. As the article mentions, without Chloe it becomes Lois and Clark: The Early Years.

Smallville actresses Allison Mack and Kristin Kreuk are teaming up with
Battlestar Galactica's Nicki Clyne and
Sarah Edmondson to launch a website for college students.
On her
official website, Allison Mack reveals that the four of them "are building something really awesome geared directly to college students" and that they are currently looking for students' feedback in order to know what the still-unnamed website will offer exactly.

Smallville premiered a little over seven years ago, a few fans were unhappy about the addition of Chloe Sullivan, a character that never appeared in any
Superman comics, movies, etc. As time went by, fans embraced this
Smallville-created character to a point that they were unhappy when rumors of her being written off the show a while back were leaked on the web. Luckily, it never happened and Chloe Sullivan not only stayed on the show, got a job at the Daily Planet but was given a power.
TV Guide reports that DC Comics'
Superman will take cue from The CW's show and include Chloe in an upcoming edition of the comic book.

(S06E18) Wonder Woman on
Smallville? Only in our wildest dreams. Still Lynda Carter is about as close to the real thing as we'll probably get. If you ask me, she still looks like a Wonder Woman. Hubba hubba. I kept hoping she'd spin around and then have her tights on and take Lex to town. No such luck.
So, speaking of Lynda Carter ... yes, she's Chloe's mom. Yes, she has meteor powers. Yes, she was in
Smallville during the original meteor shower. So why hasn't Chloe found out any of this stuff before? Has she been turning a blind eye where mommy dearest is concerned? Inquiring minds wanna know.

(S06E17) You know you're in for a very special
Smallville when it starts out with a WWF-style cage match, an extremely gratuitous shot of some very large boobs, and an all-out brawl between Clark and a Zoner who seems stronger than he is. It's like a Bizarro world version of the show starring everyone's favorite Kryptonian. Zowie.

Superheroes Gone Wild. Toss in Lois chomping at the bit for a story, and you've got half the makings of a regular old episode of
Lois & Clark, or is it just me? Although I don't remember Teri Hatcher donning red leather and claiming to be a wayward stripper from down the street who has a penchant for loving the ladies. Plus, did you catch the way Lois claimed she does a killer "Stars and Stripes" routine? Hello throwback to an old episode.

(S06E16) The wedding bells that have been ringing in the promos for this episode also sound like funeral bells ringing, is that a coincidence? We may never know. Anyhow, it's finally here, the Lex & Lana wedding that we've all been dreading/waiting for.
Did that scene of Lex and Lana watching the ultrasound creep anyone else out? It's scary to know what might come ripping out of that womb. I keep picturing that scene from Alien over and over in my head. I also hope that the photo Clark whipped out the window didn't end up decapitating someone in Malaysia. He really put some heat behind it.

(S06E15) Whoa,
Smallville has a bowling alley? Who knew? What other secret little getaways is this town hiding? Do they have a roller rink? An arcade? Come on, Clark playing
Defender, that's just aching for a write-in. Of course, if you had telekinesis would you be using it to score babes on the lanes? I can't think of a better place to put it to good use, except maybe cheerleading practice. Then he could reenact
Zapped all over again, sans Scott Baio.
Also, is it just me, or did the premise of this episode seem a little bit like
Heroes? You've got a guy tracking down meteor freaks, and stealing 'em away for some devious purpose. There was no Horn Rimmed Glasses dude, but someone creepily close to him. If you put a set of those spex on Dr. Bethany, I bet he'd look a lot like that dude. He does Lex's dirty work, seems to have no trouble getting in and out of the mansion, and has a good cover story as a doc to hide behind. Plus that really nifty ray-gun. Hmm.

(S06E13) Valentine's Day comes to
Smallville about two weeks before the rest of the country. Why can't these episodes come on closer to the actual date of the holiday? Okay, I'm griping too much. We've got the return of Red Kryptonite, and it's about darn time. It comes at the right time, too ... given the fact that Lois has gotten a bit itchy in her relationship with Oliver Queen, and Lana is about to go fully over to the dark side and marry Lex Luthor, not to mention have his baby. That's getting a bit too close to the whole Anakin/Padme relationship, ain't it?
The whole little Zoltar machine slash Gypsy slash matchmaker woman who just gives Lois the magical lipstick was wayyyyy to much of a plot device for me. It's like the writers were in a post-Chinese food coma and decided to just have some character waltz in and hand it over. Was it too convenient? Am I griping about the small stuff too much again? Most likely. Granted, the alternative was probably having a department of LuthorCorp working on cosmetics, and some wacky scientist decides to add meteor rocks and yadda yadda yadda. K-powered shampoo and shaving gel for the world.

(S06E12) Or as I like to call it, "The Martian Manhunter Show!" All Martians, all the time. Either that, or "One Flew Over the Clark Kent's Nest," except we didn't get a Nurse Ratchett, unfortunately. You can tell right from the beginning that this is all taking place in Clark's mind, so it has the ring of "ripoff" to me. Basically, it's like holodeck episode of
Star Trek: TNG. Although some good things came out of those (Dixon Hill, Moriarty, Minuet) so I'm not going to declare full shenanigans ... maybe only halfsies.
Someone needs to YouTube together all of the scenes of Clark working on farm equipment and make it a commercial for Clark's Tractor Repair. We must have seen him work on that thing a million times, but I don't remember him ever turning over any soil in the north forty. What gives,
Smallville? The writers need to think about dropping the whole Kent Farm charade and just have them live on the land. Martha's a senator, which must pay fairly decent wages, right?
